      So with that lift gate you have to open it every time or can you just let the load push IT open like for spread dumping?? I drove years back and dumped load like clay and jerked it ahead so it would slam a few times to get the left overs out

    • @dirtdiggerohio3873
      @dirtdiggerohio3873 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lift gate doesn't have to lift. You can dump it with the gate down. I know want you mean for letting the gate slam to get the rest of sticky material. Lifting just keeps from dragging the top of the pile. If we are dumping on the edge of the road we usually lift to so it don't drag some onto the road

    Was this your 1st experience with digging and preparing a gravel foundation for a precast wall system? You mentioned it was a filled terrain, and did you eventually find virgin soil bed or not? Did you have to have a soils engineering firm come and perform a soils density test on the base and or on the gravel installed?

      The screen allows quarter inch and smaller through. I'm not sure how many yards per hour it would do but I know if you're material is dry you can do a fair amount. I would think close to a hundred yards an hour or more.

    Some thing like 5 years ago in a video you titled "field drains" there is a gravel screen a box screen in the video. Is that an Econo-Screen 4 x 10 screen. I noticed it does not have a gas motor or screen deck on it. A while back i was looking a ordering one and wonder if you would communicate with me about it, what your experience is with it. either here or in private.

    • @dirtdiggerohio3873
      @dirtdiggerohio3873 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what brand it is. We bought it at an auction. The motor that was on it was bad so I had taken it off to put a new one on. It is a 4x10 screen deck. It actually works very well and very inexpensive to operate. We screen topsoil with it and the topsoil doesn't have to be 100% and dry to go through it. But the dryer it is the faster it goes.

    • @dirtdiggerohio3873

      You would compact it some. This soil was pretty dry so it didn't pack much. Before the yard was planted we ran a rock hound over it and that loosens the top inch or two of soil for seed.

    How do you like this machine for digging basements. I’m considering a SK170 but im also going to be doing all my backfills with it and i would like to do some grading work with the machine combined with my skid steer. I’m mainly going to be doing residential basements and wondering if the kobelco 145 would be a mistake for basement work

      It does good. It will get the job done but sometimes it takes a little longer. It is nice having the short radius for a lot of our work. If your digging a lot of basements I would say the 170 would be the way to go. We are digging more basements than we use to so we are looking at getting a 210 at the end of the year.
