Thanks for taking the time to explain the resolution. I still have a few queries. Shouldn't it blow the starter fuse? I am also getting the similar display turn off issue. Occassionally, it would produce a nasty sound and just shut down! Later the RPMs would come up very slowly and the bike would run. They once replaced the woodruff key, but I don't know what exactly happened. Is it possible that the engine could backfire under some circumstance, and cause this extra load on the starter components?
Thanks for sharing the difficulties.
No problem. Reason for the channel name!
Good video Tim, enjoyed Muchly:)
Thank you my good man...
Hi Tim Priest. Can tell you’re missing us all. See you soon x
Another great upload Tim! Can’t wait for the next one. Always great to see you as a happy chap😜😘🙌
Nice one Tim hope to meet up again......H
Totally. Loved the Glen Coe scene with the lady saying good morning to you!
Nice one Tim .. Brings back good memories.. Take care bud 👍
Cheers, man. Glad you liked watching.
Nice video Tim, A long time coming but worth waiting for. Great edit and happy memories :)
Cheers, Sandy. I had to stop editing for about 6 months because I got so bored with it. Glad you liked...
@@TimPriestChannel I know the feeling Tim!
you need to add a map with your route on it
Great idea. Probably too late for this as I can't edit the video now it's up. This video was mostly just the ride out to Ardnamurchan from Glen Coe and back but the long way round without the ferry because it was broken. There aren't many options to that route.
Another great video.
Cheers, Stan.
Always great to see your smiley face Tim. I'm looking forward to getting back to Scotland myself maybe next year. I haven't road a bike in Scotland since I was 18. Some 16 years ago. Beautiful place, 😍
Me and thee... if you want
Brilliant video. Brilliant grammar. Thank you.
Thanks, Centurion... nvr ad a cmnt loike that b4!
That big step is a challenge going up it
That was the challenge last summer. This time was easier. You tried it up? What bike?
Yes I did it the other way on a crf300 rally
@@darrenwindle3592 Might have to try it on one of them.
That was blooming brilliant Tim.. Loved it.. A little more straightforward than last time 😉..What a beautiful area.. One question though .. Does Chris weld the scoot back together after each outing ? How does that thing stay in one piece? Anyway, much respect to you Tim and take care 🙂👍
He bolted a self-fabricated sump guard. I think it was 2mm 6082 AL, not sure. Needs bending straight from time to time.
Love it Tim. Always a blast, giggle and adventure when I go out with you 😂
Might not have been if I had been 4 inches left!
@@TimPriestChannel everyone wants a few extra inch. But not in this instance 🤣
YESS, PRIESTY BOY, loving the videos big man, keep it up -Adi
Cheers Adi. I was just watching Callum's video of you yesterday, talking about climbing and having lost your finger!
I removed all starter motor cables and tested solenoid, cleaned all cable connections. Also opened starter and cleaned copper commutator. ALSO found a multi pin connector with too much conductive grease, Cleaned thoroughly and now my 2018 Carburettor Himalayan starts with a short press of starter button. Also I placed a DC Amp clamp on Starter cable. Starter draws 60 Amps on startup. (Peak draw) I can send you a photo it you PM me.
Wow... well done.
Hi Tim, I have watched a number of your videos now and I have thoroughly enjoy all of them, especially the work/repairs & Mods on your bikes. What are the black covers you have fitted over your Hand Guards/ Bark Busters on your Himalayan. Thank you
Great question. Barkbuster Blizzards or BBZ. They are semi rigid and fit perfectly over Barkbuster guards so I have the impact resistance and weather resistance. I'm a big fan of layers!
Only Tim can film and do what Tim does, I like your Abstract photo's very arty farty:)
Cheers mate. I should do that stuff a bit more often as I totally love it.
My favourite is the paw prints in the sand.
Made me laugh jumping in that water 😂
I wasn't laughing...

Nice one Tim.. Brings it all back.. Beautiful scenery and good company.. 👍
I know. Editing it had the same effect. Hopefully pt 3 before long but my laptop is broken.
It would be great to get back up there again Dickie. What a lovely camp site that was:)
After removing all starter cables, plus starter soilenoid, and cleaning all cable connectors, battery cable connectors and stripped starter motor, cleaned commutator, and oiled starter end bearing, also cleaned one multi pin cable connector. Cleaned all earth cable connectors. My Himalayan ( 2018 Carburettor model) starts with one short press of starter switch. I also places a DC Amp clamp on Starter positive cable and noted it draws 60 Amps peak DC on start up. (The multi pin connector was full of factory grease, I think cleaning if fixed my poor starting problems)
That should be good for another 10K miles atleast now Tim. I still have the original pads on my Himi at almost 18K
Hope so, although I did film this a year ago!
Can't get any more stupid than this.
Also my R-E starter motor said 0.7Kw 12Volt. So that's 700 watt. 700/12 = 58 amps. Does that sound correct? Has anyone put a DC amp clamp on there starter motor cable to measure starting Amps?
I'm really sorry but I don't know the power output although that sounds a reasonable ball park.
Great video Tim!
Thanks Tameem. Glad you're still enjoying the channel.
Thanks Dickie. That's absolutely where I was told about the Bahco. Mostly I only use that and a hand full of open ended.
Nice one Tim.. Those little Bacho tool kits are great..Recomended to us whilst at Nathan’s weekender at Sweetlamb if I remember rightly..Take care bud 👍
Thanks for great info. I going to pull my starter now and check it. From RE manual, Starter motor bolts, Torque value is 10-12 Nm or 1.0-1.2 Kg.M. that's for the mounting bolts...... I removed my starter. Mine is Perfect inside. I recorded the Starter Motor label info.12 Volt 0.7KW, SM-6870A, 53 100 00000, R.E Part No.:574039/C Varroc Engineering Pvt Ltd, Pune India (mine starter manufacture date15/01/2018).
Glad you solved it and glad the video was helpful.
Thanks anyway for your answer.
No problem.
I love watching your home grown trips, tech stuff, servicing, you have the gift mate!
So kind of you to say. Thanks.

Great video Tim, and thanks for the extra little push out of the mud at the end 😁 pleasure to meet you and will see you next year 😁

Apart from breaking down on way it was a fantastic weekend loved the vlog
Thanks, Howard. \it certainly was.
Did you get the bike fixed?
Very entertaining Tim. 😂 Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed. Any feedback, good or bad, always welcome.
Hi, my name is Eduardo. Nice video. It seems to be problem I have now. In my case I was riding the bike and suddenly it stopped, and then every time I try to start it the starter does not work and all the electrical circuit shuts off. Was the same what happened to you? Were you riding the bike when problem appeared? Thanks.
Unfortunately, no. Mine just stopped starting (if that makes sense). Maybe your coils in the starter are shorting or something else is? Sorry not to be more helpful!
Bru that was tough …hats off to you man …well done
Cheers Ryan. Next time no luggage I reckon!
Imma be home 5 you better be oli up
Excellent video Tim!

MTB knee pads and an armoured jacket but I've decided to invest in armour for this summer!
Was wondering how well a Himmi would fare on Bastard Lane but was really impressed by the scooter going down it.........
Amazing, although he did fit a homemade bashguard. I reckon the himmis would have done better with more experienced riders.
Can u please share the part no. Of one way bearing of electric starter assembly of himalayan
Sorry, mate, I don't know it. You can download drawings if you hunt the internet. What problem do you have? Good luck.
Cool. Nice to see some Himalayans down it. 😊👍
