    I thought about using ezest like this too but I realized if I don’t rinse it off after applying the spot treatment it’ll leave a “white/hazy” film spot on the coin that looks like a milk spot but more so like a chemical was used so rinsing off with water right after is a safe bet. That’s why I like using MS 70 because it’s not as harsh as ezest is and because of this it gives you a bit more space for error in use. Nice to see you got a straight grade on it!

      @@JoshuaAndersonLifeit works amazingly to retain most of the toning a coin has while still removing things like pvc and some milk spots and definitely top layer contaminates but doesn’t brighten up a coin the way MS 70 does, worth picking up if you ever get the chance!

      Actually yes, if you're trying to remove tarnish or spots I recommend eZest and I happen to have a video posting on this tomorrow morning. I'm talking most about silver in the video, but the same would apply for copper. I would always recommend doing a test coin first.

    The white is from your torch being too hot and the fine silver is coming to the surface. In jewelry making we call it reticulated silver. If you heated much longer at that temp the surface would have started to ripple. I agree with another commenter that using a low heat torch works much better for patina. I use a regular propane torch to fire paint copper dog tags. For silver I would use the liver of sulfur or a product called Black Max. And dip and rinse method works better than applying with a brush or q-tip. Dip in water and baking soda to stop the darkening process when you reach desired color.

    Quite an interesting turn for collecting, it seems like the Morgan dollars are more of a side issue with your interest being in the advertisments. Really neat path you've taken !! I know a collector of morgan/peace dollars who's interest is solely on the advertising sticker placed on the coin...typically the sticker covers the entire reverse of the dollar, though many times its torn or faded but he still wants them. I hesitate to mention ,but I have purchased Morgans in adverts such as yours..with my interest only being in the dollars I discared the packs . If I come across anymore I'll no longer do that. I don't remember the names but I believe they were all from banks / saving & loan branches. Really interesting, I'll subscribe and tag along 😀 Russ

    Older video, so you may not be answering questions anymore. But just in case, I was curious if it looked like the actual gsa case had been opened somehow ? Ifso, maybe someone switched cc's with a cleaned one. And are the "scratches" truly caused by a person or other Morgans from being in a bag. I cant see them that great from the video to have a better opinion on either. There are very deceptive people who wouldn't have to think twice about switching the coin. Have you tried having it graded again ? I've got years, 1880, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 , all in gsa holders...with multiples of 82,83,84, a few graded but most aren't. I'm going to take my time and patiently look back over the morgans AND the holders. Yours was the first I've ever heard of this..."cleaned" ?? .....Strange !

    • @JoshuaAndersonLife
      @JoshuaAndersonLife 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, good questions! No the GSA case did not look like it had been tampered with at all. I suppose it is possible that the scuff marks were due to being in a mint bag, and just as likely possible that whoever put it in the GSA case brushed it with their thumb or a gloved hand. There were one or two comments on this video of people mentioning they had also seen cleaned it designation in GSA cases, however I don't recall seeing any others myself. I have seen some toned coins with similar scuff marks on them that did get straight grades without a 'cleaned' designation. I might consider sending this into NGC at some point, if I do I will make a video on it. Thank you for the comment and inquiry!

      @JoshuaAndersonLife 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, I got this particular graphite mold from eBay. You can find various graphite molds on both eBay and Amazon these days. However for the most part I really prefer to pour in petrebond molds which can be double-sided or single-sided depending on what you want to do. You can buy silver shot which is what I use almost exclusively for all of my pieces. Silver shot can be bought online at places like apmex.com, but I purchase virtually all of my silver shot from Facebook groups and I have since found two people that are very reliable and priced a little bit better than Apmex for example.

      You'd be surprised... Rising prices create FOMO (fear of missing out) as well as bring attention to precious metals to newcomers. But you're right there's always hesitation to those already in the market when prices jump.

    I think silver will hit $40.00 an oz by the end of June, 2024 and $100.00 an oz by the end of October, 2024. The "so called" experts said silver would not hit $30.00 an oz until the end of 2024, they were wrong AGAIN! Everything has speeded up now that the economic collapse has sped up and we are all going to be amazed at what silver does over the next 6 months--in my opinion!! Thanks for the great video!!!

    hey my glazed crucible starts to crack when i stop applying flame to it,is it the air outside thats cooling it off to fast and cracks and chip off ?

    • @JoshuaAndersonLife
      @JoshuaAndersonLife 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's very normal to hear what sounds like a cracking noise, however there should not be any actual visible cracks. Your glaze or borax should also not be chipping off, If it is you may need a better quality borax. Every time you use your crucible and heat it up it will make cracking noises when you are done as it's cooling off.

    You can dissolve silver and copper in a mix of salt and vinegar, it makes a blue-green crystalline powder that can be melted. I learned this but I have no idea how to purify the silver from the copper. Is it technically an electrolytic solution?

      Thank you! Yes they are carbon filters. I've only done 3 processes of silver refining so it hasn't gotten that much use. I bought the fume hood with a new filter but the seller didn't know how long they last and at the time I didn't find much good info online either.

      Decided to try chat GPT and here's what it told me: Carbon filters in fume hoods typically need to be replaced every 1 to 3 years, depending on the type of chemicals they are filtering, the frequency of hood use, and the concentration of fumes.
