There are 12 buildings in the Art Nouveau Style Hospital Complex. Built 1901-1930 , there are underground hallways that connect the buildings which were designed to show high level of patient care and culture. Most buildings have been restored, few remain.

Gaudí's original design calls for a total of eighteen spires, representing in ascending order of height the Twelve Apostles,[b] the four Evangelists, the Virgin Mary, and, tallest of all, Jesus Christ. Thirteen spires had been completed as of 2023, corresponding to four apostles at the Nativity façade, four apostles at the Passion façade, the four Evangelists, and the Virgin Mary.

Construction started on March 19th 1882, and has been in progress off and on since then, completion is forecasted for 2026 and statue and final details in 2034, Gaudi definitely left his mark on another masterpiece and later on the use of computers, sped things up.
