So true. Music and art breathe improvisation.
Cool improv
Know the pain man
we've all been there
i got a set of these as a present. if I'd bought them myself i would have smashed them to pieces. obviously when my gorgeous girl bought them she didn't say "I'd like to buy a set of drums that sounds like a set of drums" 55 preset kits and not one of them sounds like a complete set of acoustic drums. i cannot describe the level of difficulty thats involved to make them sound like the oldest and simplest instrument ever invented. roland are fucking rip off artists they've made them sound like shit and then tell you how they've invented all this shit to make them sound like"normal fucking drums". dont buy these shit things, you will get way better for half the price.
@@terryjeffreys4428 sorry to hear. I've played with seasoned road players and they can't get over how real they do sound. Try them plugged into a PA or a good Amp or decent headphones. But as I mention, it takes some time and it helps if you understand programming.
you shouldn't have to be a programmer to get simple drum sounds out of "A SET OF DRUMS" I've had cheaper sets that are far easier and better quality.
@@terryjeffreys4428 I agree, it's complicated and in a language drummers don't understand. Taking some time and learning how the sub menus work is life changing.
life changing, you mean "life wasting "😢
@@terryjeffreys4428 don't give up dude. It's about what the sound goes thru. The best guitar will sound shit thru a crap amp.
G O N G
LOL.
I was an 80s kid and I agree. Late 60s-70s was my favorite, so timeless.
Junk. Wouldn't have that crap. Nor would any self respecting drummer
Obviously a normal kit is way better than this, but it all depends on taste and what you're using it for mate. Not everyone has the room to chuck a massive pearl kit in there, and also they're a lot quieter. You can fold them away and quickly move them if ya need to, and are also a lot cheaper than a half decent acoustic.
Too much new wave music. Too many keyboards and electronic drums. Woulda been better if there was less of it.
I can't stop watching the ending 😂 So good, man!
Well none of you lived through the 80s if you did it wasn't great. Bands back then play their own instruments. Sounded the same live as they did on an album. I could be a great singer today with all the sound machines and effects and tweaking. There was some not-so-great music but you have that in every generation plus every generation is going to think their generation was the best
I'm 60. I was 16 in 1980. Sorry. Try another musician. Spandex and big hair...on guys. Ya. 80s rocked alright. LOL
Great video man! Thank you
Weezer?
Damn that stick control is rough
I think this is the best Go Keys demo of what this board has to offer. No just comparing Grand Piano patch
THANK YOU!
This is what boomers get for killing disco.
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful tips. I play on a VAD-306 at my church and really enjoy it. I took and tweaked the EQ pad setting on 6 kits I use on a regular basis by following the tutorial suggestions I found on The eDrum workshop. I also found some good HH tutorials and got my HH working exceptionally well and even have a nice "chick" sound for playing jazz and accents. Once you have it set up the way you like it then I highly recommend you do a backup!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Amazing! Keep playing.
I bought an used TD17 KL and it is great to be able to update and load the extra drumkits. But also i realise that not everybody has the knowledge to setup the drums. The manual should be much easier to read. The sounds of the snare is something why i sold my first TD17, any tips to get more variation like on the TD9?
Sorry. I'm only familiar with TD17. I agree. The manual and the.people behind writing the software weren't musicians or drummers.
Can I delete a kit I have installed and install it later, without resetting module?
If you have a copy of the file, yes. You can always install a kit without resetting.
One of my cymbals died. $180 for a new one.
I'm sorry. That's shit. Not bad price tho. Remember...it's 100s of cymbals. Real ones break too, I lost at least 3.
Did you actually say you don't know what cross stick is???????????? If so, you need to sit with a drummer.
Misheard. I cannot use/understand the cross stick function with the pads. Common complaint apparently. The one thing I miss...playing the offbeat cross to a slow blues or growling rock...
@@MusicAsWeMakeIt The cross stick function will enable you to adjust the volume of the rim on the snare
@@LeadingEdgeFitness1 I've tried. It doesn't cut it but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I'll keep trying. LOL
@MusicAsWeMakeIt There's a youtube channel, td-17 hacks I believe, that has a good video on getting the cross stick setup right.
100% correct.
I was 16 in 1980, and it literally went down hill from then. Hair bands in spandex. Saw a band in Toronto in 1986. We chose the wrong ones. These clowns played the usual radio crap. Down the road, Alice in Chains was playing Gasworks...This bar was about 50 feet wide and 200 feet long. The stage took up 15 of the 50 feet. Literally, to go pee you had to walk in front of the stage.
What about cross stick functionality/accuracy from the PDX-12 snare pad that comes w the TD-17KVX? I find it a bit lacking and the fact that the trigger sensor is mounted near the bottom edge of the pad seems to hinder performance and there doesn't seem to be dual zone capabilities w this snare pad, correct?
Agree. I have yet to make cross stick work like intended. L
Ive got one,, great fun and got some nice sounds on it.
Sounds like those guys I see on Instagram!
Thanks. A few are definitely an influence.
Need a singer dude! 😅
Really great video dude. ❤
Good video. A lot of options
Heisenberg
You’re entirely right man. 80’s music fucking blows
Hi, what type of keyboard is that in the corner? do you like it? thx
It's awesome. I did a video about it. th-cam.com/video/aGFBm6C_SuM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-m2ByYPAjQv_gvsC
Nah. You're right
Cool
Still hard to manage pad sounds to kits tho.. If you like the snare sound for Kit 51 how can you move it to Kit 75?
I suggest noting the settings in kit 51 and setting up the snare in kit 75 as it is in 51.
@@MusicAsWeMakeIt So manually one by one per pad? Damn, Roland should have easily made a software for that at least put the copy pad settings within the module.
@@trevorbelmont4633 ya. I agree. If one can copy a kit, copying a pad can't be much different. I was thinking more about this. Isolate a kit, copy 75 to say 76. Then mess with the settings in 76.
Ive had a td-17 for about a month now. Some of the best kit sounds are ones that I DL'ed from roland cloud or paid for online. Hihat is still not where I would like it to be but everything else is great. I recommend some in-ear monitors instead of over-ear headphones because they do a good job of blocking out any pad sounds, and make it feel more like playing acoustic drums.
Thanks for watching. The high hat is a pain. Trial and error, it's all about the black round bolt on top of the pad. Don't treat that like a regular high hat, loosening the top cymbal. It's a fine tuner for balancing. Maybe you know this but if not, try. It made my experience better.
The digital hats in the td27 and td50 eliminate most playability issues
@@MusicAsWeMakeItThread locking the hi-hat rod will stop the hats from turning as well.
Great video. Wonder if you can help lol. Downloaded the kits from Roland Cloud Mgr to my MacBook. We’re I’m having a problem is we’re I drag my downloaded kits to my SD card shows the card and it just says TD 17 it doesn’t show a sub folder ??? I dragged the he downloads to the SD card (without a sub folder or a folder that says kits ) then ejected it. When I put it into the module the kits don’t show up on my card. Wonder if I did something wrong. Cause it’s not showing me a sub folder like it does on windows. Every tutorial is from people who have windows not Macs. Hoping you might know. Any help’s appreciated
Hi Rob. You definitely have to go through the file extraction process. I had the same issue as you at first. I'm assuming you formatted the SD card on the TD-17 module.
I just reread you last sentence. I was going to say Apple sometimes has issues with these sort of downloads. In my former business life, customers had to use a Windows computer to finalize any process on the government program database. They could do everything but submit the final documents. Very frustrating.
Sound so large, like you're in a large hall. Very cool!
Funny blooper at end. Nice add. 😅
Thanks for watching to the end! LOL
Grew up in Toronto!
I love the raw sound! ❤
Love Toronto. I grew up in Oakville.

Good video
Nice. 😎👍 Seems your story closely matched my own. Right on.
Thank you. I discovered Artists Kits thru the Roland App. Kits designed by pros FOR TD-17 module. They are much better than preprogrammed kit. I was in the middle of doing a vid about this and how to when my hard drive crashed.
