I wonder how many people used a home movie camera to record Wide World of Sports long before consumers bought their first videotape recorder. Most home movies were 8mm and they aim the camera to the TV screen.

I remember watching The Big Go with my Father back in 84 & Pop, who absolutely loved Big Daddy was so happy when Big won 😁 Whilst I admired Garlits tremendously, I was actually rooting for Conrad, because Big had already won Indy 5 times & CK had yet to win, but looking back, since Conrad would finally win it ( bout 10yrs later ) I'm very happy Big Won this one 💪 RIP POP 🙏

I was born two weeks after that race

Back in this time I was running around in my old used car, 1969 Rambler SC/Hurst and taking people from downtown Portland after circling 6th and then Broadway out to 205 or the interchange for a quick $5. everyone thought I built it but it was one of 1512 special promotion vehicle built by AMC and Hurst. Functional ram air and radio delete. Like driving a drug, 8.1 power to weight like 454 Nova but small block 390. The 390 was suspicially similar to the Buick 401, huh?

Everyone who ever lined up next to The Snake tripped over their own throttle pedal at one time or another, he had a way of making his opponent very nervous on the starting line 😰 LOL! If ya dont believe me, just ask Force about facing the Legendary "SNAKE" & just how nervous he was in doing so. Of course Big John went on to do amazing things in Funny car, but only after Snake & Bernstein left for Top Fuel. I'm here in October of 2024 & wishing Big John a full recovery 🙏 Thanks for another great posting Calvin! 👍
