This was the end of a very long project. It was the final testing of the ECU Re-Flash for the Second Generation Yamaha Star V-Max. I needed proof the product would function properly, so who else better to call than the Legendary Jay Gleason. The bikes setup was simple. Gurued Gear is great. I felt big gains in mine as it removes the restrictions and tunes for the small exhaust and air box mods.
Thanks for posting. I also modified the airbox and put a KN filter. Going to send out the ECU to Tim Nash. Have you had any codes come up or is everything running smoothly? Also, was it hard to connect the ECU back to the bike as far as the procedure and did you connect back the hose that goes to the air box thanks hope you’re enjoying your Max.
@@pacelect I have a modded air box, cat delete, exup removed, double clutch plate and tuned ecu. Run perfect every time with zero issues. It’s easy to remove and install the new ecu. It’s been a few years, but I think the hose to the air box was reattached. I don’t remember removing anything like that.

Top end is really restricted, as well. Throttle butterfly shut way down past 8000 rpm in 5th. Moore Mafia flash got me from 146 to 166 Mph in the desert and I may have shut down a bit early. Redline raised from 9500 to 10,000 rpm . I short shifted the lower gears. 166 mph run: th-cam.com/video/ct4Y_Cr15ak/w-d-xo.html
I am interested. I have removed the cat. Got a slip on 4 into 2. It has baffles to meet noise restrictions in the uk, but the baffles are removable and are still installed. When they are in, a flash is not required. So, my question is, If I have the ecu flashed, for the baffles out, then re-install them, will the flash make me foul spark plugs? Foul them with the baffles installed? Thanks

is there any information or website for the heads? i am thinking about doing a twin turbo on my bike and cant find any aftermarket parts for it any help would be awesome!
That's true Andrew. Huge HP increases are not the biggest advantage of the ECU re-flashing on the VMAX. It comes from the factory with some hard limits on the throttle opening rates down low. They prevent the bike from launching hard without bogging badly. The re-flash removes the restriction and allows for much improved 60' times. It does a bunch of other good stuff as well, but removing the bog is what really helped the 1/4 mile times in the video.
Correct. I'm a car guy, also LOVE the Max but yes, tuning isn't always about peak numbers, it's about basically having a throttle cable, when opened, it's opened among other things

Very cool, but why does the VMAX sound so anemic when rev'ed sitting still?
I'd be interested to see the MPH differences, that should be the ultimate tell on any horsepower increase.
