To be quite honest, things don't seem very different from 10 years ago, games like Wolfenstein, GTA V, Far Cry 4. They don't seem that different from today.

It's even more Songs changed: knuckles theme, mini Boss, carnival night, ice cap, launch base and credits. So It's six tracks. 😊

This is why we always see the phrase "vote with your wallet". Because only you know what good value is. As a paying customer it's your responsibility to decide which games you want to buy. Whether you pay full price or wait for a discount. Buy a physical copy or a digital copy. The industry needs to maintain that flexibility of choice.

I'd rather pay 50 dollars for a DSlite which i already did.

All i remember of 2014 was Trap Team and Shovel Knight.

I remember getting a Wii U back in 2013, when I turned 7. This console introduced me to E3, online communities for games, and the idea of learning about upcoming releases and getting excited. Mario 3D World, Mario Maker, and Mario Kart 8 are probably the first games I ever first learned of from Nintendo's showcases and got excited about, even when their release was nearly or over a year away.

Wonder what gaming will look like in 10 years if it still exists....

1:19 Bean's name is supposed to be a nod to Dynamite Dux, the game that inspired his character. It still sounds weird, but there is a reason to it. If I recall correctly, the bit about him being a woodpecker comes from the Archie comics adaptation, so it's another scenario where he's either a duck or woodpecker depending on who you ask. Just like how Fang is either a weasel or gerboa.

One of the dumbest changes in my opinion, are the latest 2 Mario & Luigi games. In North America, they’re called Mario & Luigi Dream Team and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam. But in PAL regions, they added “Bros.” at the end of the title for some reason. Was it not clear enough that they were brothers or something? The Japanese versions just call them Mario & Luigi RPG *whatever number game it is.* I do like Partners in Time’s Japanese name, Mario & Luigi RPG 2x2. It obviously references the fact that it’s the second game, but also that there’s 2 Mario’s and Luigi’s. Also, if I recall correctly, the second 2 is smaller in the logo because it represents Baby Mario and Luigi.

Nah if you think the golden age of video games already ended your being ignorant. There are so many incredible studios putting out amazing work. We need to stop gate keeping.

Another way you could look at how gaming has changed is going year by year, comparing most popular releases, tho I am not sure if 10 year is long enough time span of that.

I'm just hoping that cloud gaming and the "all-digital" future would be a fad and not become the standard.

The biggest difference for me is that back in the 90s when I was born, when you bought a game, you had the complete experience: you didn’t have worry about grinding and missing the deadline for certain items and thus, had more time for your social life; unlike now where you don’t have time for anything else outside of gaming because otherwise you’ll miss your chance to complete a BP or limited time event.

Now with the high rise of digital downloads, I see consoles allowing refunds of digital games. When Cyberpunk 2077 first released with tones of glitches and being unplayable, people who bought the physical copy returned the game and got a refund. Sony took down Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store and because of that they allowed people who bought the digital version to be able to get a refund on the game.

for the first time in gaming history almost nothing changed in the last 10 years even things like cloud gaming and microtransactions were a thing in 2014. the only changes are cultural like minor changes in art style and game design and other minor trends . going from 2004 to 2014 was a huge change and 1994 to 2004 was mind blowing

Biggest "change" and not for the better is absolutely everything nowadays having microtransactions, battepasses, content locked behind paywall etc. Some of those things were just pioneered and first tested around 2014 but now they are mainstream. Add lootboxes to that aswell. Also skill based matchmaking in every multiplayer. Gameplay wise not that much has taken a big leap forward, visually everything is prettier but thats an obvious one

Yeah yeah. Every failed console is somehow akshually a masterpiece. If the Wii U isn't a POS, then tell me how many Nintendo consoles or handhelds you'd take it over, I'll wait.

ANd then we have the opposite of FOMO -> RTP (Refusal to Play). I considered getting into Fortnite many time, mainly when they added Lara Croft and Naruto, but knowing that they are now unavailable due to being so called season exclusives, whatever little desire I had to maybe play is gone now. Why the hell not make me able to outright buy those characters?? In an age where you buy instead of unlock via gameplay, having adults with disposable income pay for the skins is a potential goldmine!
