Welcome to my channel.
I have been a crafter since I was a little girl, starting with small embroideries and making my first dress at 9 years old. My Mum was great inspiration for me; sewing all our clothes, making home decor items, wonderful birthday cakes and many more projects. I discovered patchwork quilts in 1980. The geometric patterns really appealed to me. Jumping ahead to 2004, geometry became an even more significant part of my life when I switched careers from IT to teaching maths. During all this time I have quilted and sewn but art has always been a passion. Recently I have been dabbling in mixed media projects and back to my first love, hand embroidery.
As I move into retirement, I would like to share my projects, perhaps some tutorials and also a bit about life in New Zealand. I hope that you will join me as I explore the next phase of my life.

100 day project 2024
For my 2024 100 days project, I drew a stamp a day using a variety of illustration techniques but mostly zentangles.
I prepared the paper before the project by doing watercolour washes for the background. Then I made the book after the project was complete.

100 days of watercolour swatches flip through (sort of!)
มุมมอง 85ปีที่แล้ว
I swatched out my new Renesans watercolour paints every day for 100 days, adding doodles and drawings to make it more interesting. This was going to be a flip through of the book I would make of the pages but... you have to watch the video to find out what happened.
My Pink Book
มุมมอง 1262 ปีที่แล้ว
I started with a colour pallette from Design Seeds, made some collage papers using gel printing and then used them to make backgrounds. The white images are my own doodles. I didn't quite get enough teal in my collage papers so I made some teal paper for the words, done with Posca paint pen and micron pen.

Sew for the soul book

sew for the soul book, inspired by Anne Brooke. #sew4thesoulbook I realised after filming this that I was making it during the school holidays, after lockdown. So the bird page was made during the July holidays.
100 day project 2019 Part 2
มุมมอง 965 ปีที่แล้ว
My 100 day project 2019, pages 41 to 100. My project was to make a paper doodle using a gel print paper only. Gel prints are monoprints produced on a gel plate, a squishy surface that you can make impressions and texture in the paint. I have used acrylic paint and stencils, texture plates and masks to add texture and design. The backgrounds for my doodles are also gel prints. My only other tools...

I have been following Robyn McClendon's gel printing tutorials and was inspired to make this little book on index cards. The poem is a reverse poem by students from Hong Kong. You can see all Robyn's videos here. th-cam.com/play/PLrDINCf9LMaRaHkPItm_EgpO6PC-YisZ2.html
100 Days Project 2019 first 40 days
มุมมอง 2745 ปีที่แล้ว
100 Days Project 2019 first 40 days. My project is to make a paper doodle every day using gel printed paper for the background and the doodles. My only tools are a pair of scissors, glue and a bamboo skewer to apply the glue. I will use the paper I have been making to learn about gel printing. This is printed on ordinary copier paper. I will not use any other tools, pens or paint to enhance or ...

Inspiring, delightful and a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing!
Your work is so pretty ❤❤❤
I love it all! Thank you for sharing your art!
So many beautiful papers and projects! I love your idea to use magazine words on the Ricki Midbrod tags, and I was inspired to make the larger size you showed. I have learned so much in Fodder School-isn’t it fun?!?
Wow, your work is extremely original, so beautiful , you must be very pleased, as I love the whole creation.
Greetings from Margarita Island .Venezuela
👏👏👏🙏🏿🙌🏻💫😍🇦🇷
Love all your fodder and projects and colour schemes. 👍🥰
I love seeing all the postcards hung up on the wall! Thank you for sharing all your projects with us, Rona!
I love your palette! I'm a big fan of the teals and aquas also!
Thanks for sharing. Someday I hope to take the Fodder School classes. Looks like so much fun. Love all your books!❤
Hi. What lovely work. I particularly liked the scrappy book whose shape was dictated by packaging from a clothes hanger. Also like the 'zero waste' approach of using packaging labels to cover and make into tags. Wish I could afford to enrol in fodder school! Maybe next year.
Nice work and love your touches of Zentangle!
Thank you. I just got into doodling and ink illustrations during lockdown. I watched a lot of TH-cam!
I love all of your projects! I especially enjoyed how you designed your Blizzard book cards. And what a fabulous idea to cut up a file folder to make tags! I have lots of file folders that I no longer use and not one tag😅❤
Thank you. I have a box of 100 folders! I'm never going to use them all for their intended purpose. 😅
Yours was my favorite HOP flip-through, Rona!❤
Wow! Thank you
Beautiful!
Thank you.
Fabulous!❤
Thank you.
Your art is beautiful! Yours sincerely, A New Subscriber
Thank you for subscribing. I don't really push it because I wasn't bothered but now I've discovered that I can make chapters in my videos when I get to 1000. I've got a long way to go!
Love your tour, I am doing Fodder School 3, my 1st time! It is very inspiring to see what others have made, each person opens my mind further. I am off to a slow start due to other commitments so I am glad it is an open schedule, go at your own pace! Thanks for sharing your results!💕🇨🇦
The TH-cam hop for Fodder School 2 part 1 was what got my attention. I so wanted to play along. As for slow start, I've only just cut my paper for my coptic stitch book! Life has a tendency to get in the way, doesn't it.
OMG, what a beautiful work you did.
Thank you. It brings me a lot of pleasure so I'm so glad you like it.
Love the colours you uses Rona 💙💜🩵
Thank you. Is that the blues and teals? As I said, they are my favourites. I'm going to be trying out a limited palette going into Fodder School 3 so of course, teal will be featured!
I love your fodder books, they are really lovely. You mentioned a workshop, was that here in NZ?
Thank you. I had to rewatch my video to find out where I referred to a workshop. Yes, it was a workshop in Ngaruawahia.
This is just lovely!
Simply beautiful! Just lovely. Thank you for sharing.
You are very talented and creative. Enjoyed watching your designs.
I really enjoyed your book. You're creative and imaginative. Your use of materials that had had other functions peeked my imagination. Thank you for sharing.
Your book is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
👍👍❤️❤️🌹
love your book; very unique!
Which part of Scotland are you from originally? I'm from Aberdeenshire. Just found your lovely channel.
Oh my goodness, I just found your comment. Sorry about that. I must have never clicked on this section in TH-cam Studio. I say I'm from Edinburgh because that's where I've lived the longest but born in Dunfermline and then went overseas, back for school and then emigrated to NZ almost 30 years ago. The accent gets a bit muddled!
Que bonito!
gracias
Beautiful!
Thank you!
