This is a failure of management. There should never be conflicting claims of court priority. There should be a court use schedule posted a month in advance. Both in writing at the venue and online.

I do both sports, if I’m playing pb on tennis court and a tennis group comes I will give up the court,…but if attitude is bad I will take out my tennis racket and say I will be done in 45 mins. Maybe that’s what we need, all courts available with 45 min blocks.

I was one of the organizers. We purposely went when the six tennis courts were empty. The kids camp was a couple of hundred yards away on other tennis courts. They were not disturbed. Their camp finished and they came over to watch the police sort things out. We were there to show the tennis club operating a for-profit business against what they purported, did not have a permit, that the courts were empty most of the time every day of the week, and sharing space is worthy of a serious discussion with the City. Unfortunately the tennis lobby appears to have undue influence of our Mayor so that sit down, that serious discussion looking at court logs and facts has unfortunately never occurred. Most tennis players play pb and were cool with us using unused courts. But a few tennis leaders riled up their friends and made a big issue of this. It felt like an entitlement attitude but based on bad info. Ultimately it is up to the City to be fair minded and figure out the best way forward. That has not happened…yet!

Luckily in Dallas tennis players have first priority. All our courts say for tennis use only but we allow pickle ballers on them because who cares.
