It's a 6 speed, but it has a quick shifter on the left handle bar control. As far as I can tell, the difference being, a DCT like on the Gold Wing, is basically a fully automatic transmission for a bike. The BMW has either 1 or 2 toggles that you blip up or down and the bike will instantly ship up a gear or down a gear. I just watched an autobahn speed run on a K1600gt earlier today, and you can see the rider never engaged the clutch, just used the quick shifter toggle, and the shifts Rev matched at full throttle perfectly. Probably faster than any human could, including a motoGP rider. It seems like a very well engineered system. You can shift on your own with the clutch and gear shift, or when you want a perfect rocket launch run, you can use the toggle at red line each gear and get absolute perfection on the bike acceleration capabilities.
