Basic Bottle holder design
This is a very basic bottle holder design. Its the first design I started out with. I have another video showing a much better upgraded design, but its more complicated to build. With ANY bottle holder, make sure you put it up out of reach after feedings if it is in the same area as the kids. They are leg breaking hazards! I know several people that have had goat kids break legs because someone forgot to hang the bottle holder out of reach after feeding.

มุมมอง 6063 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is my nursery setup at A Better Way Farm. I've made some updates since this video and hope to make another video soon, but thought I'd get this one up to give people some great ideas as we are approaching kidding season! This was a super fun project and I have really enjoyed the results!!!! This video is from 2019 when we moved to the new farm. This year (2020), I've added some new lightin...
The goats made it to the top!

The goats have been too scared of the thick brush and woods to come all the way to the top since we moved here three months ago, but today they decided they were going to be brave!!! 👋👋👋

How old is he?
I’m saving a baby goat- no I’m not qualified but no one else will do it. I have a mini farm and I’ve given humans shots- muscular and intravenous and I need to give the baby thymine I believe. She’s so skinny what if I can’t grab her like that?? It has to be possible I suppose?
sorry for the late reply. Yes, you can still pull skin up, there just won't be a cushion of fat but thats ok.
Wow this is beautiful. I love how open everything is and how connected it all is at the same time. What are the metal pens you use? I’ve been looking for something like that.
Thanks! :) I welded together 1" square tubing to make the frames and when I priced the 16' welded wire mesh panels I wanted to use in them, I found something much cheaper (per 16') on Amazon so used those instead. They are sold as portable dog pen panels but they are not strong enough on their own for goats. They worked perfectly by welding them inset into my frames though! I DID buy those pre-pandemic and they were much cheaper, but also haven't repriced the welded wire mesh panels, so not sure which is cheaper these days. The bonus with the dog panels is that they were already painted black so I just needed to focus on painting (used spray paint) my frames and the spots I welded the inset panels. :)
I've been to her barn and seen it in the rough, she has done an extraordinary job with the construction of this barn, especially the way she has the individual rooms with in the barn. It all serves a purpose, and the milking room with stations seems very ergonomicly correct. Her workmenship is most impressive. Very clean, look.
mine just screams
Thanks for this video! Getting prepared for bottle feeding kids that are due in Oct/Nov
Thank you so much. I have been looking for videos and none give this information.
I would love to see your buck barn set up. I need ideas!!
Our baby got seems to hate the bottle. She’s only drinking 4-5 oz about 3 times per day and I have to keep at her to get that down. I thought about actually changing from powdered goat milk to regular cows milk? Thoughts?
Whole milk is good for them if it has the red cap. My baby goat takes that but she’s not taking it but our other goats were on whole milk and we’re fjnr
Thank you for sharing this. This will definitely help me with designing my goat barn
Thank you! Our babies mom died and now we have to switch them to colostrum and the girl refused to eat. Thank you sooo much!!

Yeah my baby goats mama died :( I wasn’t gonna get her from my moms friend until she got a bit bigger but I ended up getting her at 4 days old. So basically she wouldn’t take her bottle... but I can across this video and she’s getting better at drinking her bottle!! Tysm I don’t know what I Would do without this video!!! ✨💕
My goat is 4 months and refuses to drink from a bowl. any ideas?
This video has saved so many baby goats. Ty

This just saved the life of yet another little goatie jerk that won’t eat. Thank you soooo much

Thank you for posting this video. We have a little Nubian buck who was the runt of triplets and they were born on Christmas. It is the middle of winter and really cold outside so we had to bring him in because he almost died. After we did that he smelt like our dogs and his mom didn't want anything to do with him. This is our first time experiencing this and we had no clue how to start them out because he did not like any nipple we were using. Your video saved his life :)
