Detective Pan - Brayden Thompson Senior Recital
Detective Pan (2023)
For those who know me, they will know I spent two years in island breeze (steel band) at Missouri State University. These were some of the most memorable and fun performances I had in college and I am very proud of be apart of it. During my last semester in island breeze I decided to write a pan tune in my favorite Latin groove, the samba. Detective pan never was performed under island breeze so I put together a small ensemble of former and current pan players to have it performed on my senior recital. Detective Pan is a fusion of inspiration from Hollywood spy music of the 1960s combined with traditional Trinidad and Tobago calypso music.
