A year of riding the Yamaha YDX-MORO 07 eBike - Review
An honest take from an average rider and subpar mechanic on my experience riding the Yamaha Moro 07 ebike for a year. I tested the range, made some modifications, trialled it as a mullet and had a blast putting this bike through its paces.
This video includes self-shot footage of riding the bike on my home & local trails in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.

Foster Beach Trail Tour Update - Fall 2023 | 🎥 GoPro12 Max Lens Mod 2.0
มุมมอง 15511 หลายเดือนก่อน
This year, I made a big push to extend the distance on my backyard trail. With a newborn on the way it was essential to have a convenient space to knock out some laps. A new flowy downhill line was added, running parallel to Fred Pinner and looping around the pond at the bottom of the yard. The original loop in the woods was revived, providing a warm-up line and climb trail that intersects the ...
Building the Burgher Hill mountain bike jump & flow trail in Kentville, Nova Scotia

One of the biggest jump/flow trails in the Maritimes is located in downtown Kentville, Nova Scotia and minutes from a network of 40 km of singletrack. It's truly a destination for all types of mountain bikers of any skill level. A dirtlove.ca masterpiece by Devon White. The line is designed with options for rolling or jumping every feature so you can learn and progress at your own pace safely. ...
Yarduro 2023 Stage 1 - Testing the GoPro12 in Max HyperView

A quick lap of the first stage of the 2023 Yarduro loop on my backyard trail. Starting at the top of the flow line, heading down the ridge, going counter-clockwise on the lollipop at the end, and back down, taking the fire escape over the stream gap and returning to the yard around the pond. I was eager to test out GoPro's latest release, the 12 Black, paired with the improved Lens Mod 2. I had...

GoPro track preview of the 2022 Yarduro race. Each lap will be around 1.5kms down the flow line, out to the ridge, back down the jump line, to the road climb and finishing off with a rip down Fred Pinner and through the tree bridge.
Late fall yard laps
มุมมอง 652 ปีที่แล้ว
Some yard laps with Tyler hitting most sections of the trail. I didn't get around to doing a tour so tagged in some trail names throughout the video. There's a couple of new features that were added right at the end of the season you'll see a preview of. The tree bridge and the Fred Pinner drop. More work to do on dialling the landing of the drop in, but it will need to wait until things dry up...
Fall Mountain Biking in the Wentworth Valley, Nova Scotia
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We had a big crew and hit most of the singletrack throughout the Wentworth Valley. Lots of leaves down, but you gotta get it while it's good! Starting at the ski hill with their 3 new runs, before making our way across the valley to the hostel side and then 'Yarmouth' to hit F-Bomb. Great crew, tons of laughs, so many comebacks. Please respect land owners, it's a privilege to ride these trails....

I wanted to fit one last tour in before the leaves came down. It has been a while since I measured it, so with the new addition, we’re around 2.5km riding with minimal overlap or a 10-minute ride. The next addition will change this place.

The latest Moro 7 is a 27.5+ which is the same diameter as a 29 but with fatter tire capability. No reason to mullet or even go 170mm on a fork. It was designed to perform as is.

How would you say this bike is compared to the 2023 turbo levo comp would it be worth the change to this bike?
Tough for me to say without ever riding the Turbo Levo, but that's a great rig. I wouldn't be making the switch.
Did the mullet setup work well? You briefly mentioned you tried it.
Not great to be honest, the bars were just way to high
good review
Thank you!
Excellent review. Especially admitting using power assist to overcome the weight of the bike.
Thank you! It's something that's rarely mentioned
Hopefully, money for re-construction will be gathered and this project will be successful!

Great review man! I’ve got mine few months ago as my first e-mtb and absolutely happy with it. Can you tell little bit more about how mullet feels compare to standard 27.5 wheel. What fork is it ? And I’ve noticed different bar, it seems higher.
It didn't work great with this bike, was only an experiment but I recently switched to Norco Fluid VLT which is a mullet and wow! What a fun setup. i think the mullet is the ultimate ebike setup if you want something that is going to be nimble and just pure fun to ride.

I don't like the top tube has welds on the middle of it. Why would they do that?
I couldn't tell yah 🤷🏻♂ is it similar to what the moto split looks like?
How is the Moto and battery holding up?
@@totalglitch the bike’s battery is great!
They just dropped the price to 2600 and I really want to get one vs 8500 for a heckler I hate to say since I'm a fanboy of Santa Cruz. Since this has a 37mm offset did you use the same offset for the fork or did you go 44mm? That is the only thing I didn't like since I'm use to 65 64 degree angle. Thank you again. I am 240lbs and carry 3L of water Arkansas riding. Any help on the fork swap would be great. Thank you again
@@totalglitch oh man, I'm a Santa Cruzer as well. Bang for your buck this bike is it, but I also just went to Norco Fluid VLT. If you want a lighter weight, the Heckler is amazing. To answer your question, I didn't change anything. Used it as it came
Hey buddy, what’s your range in low power assist guy? Thanks friend.
To be honest I’ve barely ridden it in low power but will to reserve battery on flatter terrain. I would guess you could squeeze upwards of 50kms out of a charge if you kept it in low power
Great video! 👍 Weather there is similar to where I leave in Sweden. Liked very much
Thanks! It definitely is, I hope to make it over there some day! Cheers
How do you decide if this bike could be preferable over Trek Rail or Specialized Levo? I only get one. Is there sufficient dealer support?
There's no right answer, it all comes down to what kind of local support you have for those brands. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but the Yamaha is one of the best bang for your buck ebikes
Really great review. I did 3 seasons (here in Vermont) on my YDX Moro Pro and as an old guy suddenly finding myself in my 6th decade not wanting to give up it's been a god-send. It's sobering when your doc says "You don't want to be spiking your heart-rate to tachycardia anymore...not good for you" and your knee doc is all, "Well, that arthritis is just gonna get worse". The eMtn bike allows me to keep riding the trails I've been on (and helped develop/build) for the last 40 or so years. I saw the 30th anniversary Yam 07 all silver bike with the new PX3 motor and just had to have it. It is absolutely amazing. As you say, the bike really turns and handles the rough rooty-rocky VT trails easily. The new motor is a significant upgrade from the PX2 and I get considerably more range out of the same battery just because of the gains in efficiency. My only bitch is the electronic indicator. I kinda miss the info the YDX provided. Time, speed, odometer, estimated range remaining. The new one is just on/off, battery level and assist level. That's my only gripe with the new bike. And oh my gosh, the reasonable price...! The 'real' bike companies want you to think an eMtn bike has to cost 10-15k (I'm staring at you Pivot & Specialized) What a rip-off...! The 2024 30th anniversary 07 with the extra battery promotion Yamaha is running is a cool $6400. That's a lot of fun for that kind of dough. And as you attest, you do get excellent exercise on these bikes. I can stay out longer without being wiped out and knees swelling like grapefruits. And dear analog bikers...I'm not damaging the trails. Young dudes standing mashing the pedals on climbs are far more destructive and don't get me going on all those that are afraid of their front brakes and skid the rear wheel on descents. That's destructive. Ok, thanks for the vid. Got me excited to go ride tomorrow again.
Well said! Enjoy your ride today 🤘
Question for you please. What kind of range are you getting on your pro and how much more significant increase does the have? I just ordered the pro for the exact reason that you had mentioned the information on the display. I know the fork is not quite as good, and the 11 speed is not quite as good as the 12 speed 1051 on the seven. I had also researched and found that the P3 motor was lighter and smaller, but I did not see much about the efficiency and how it would affect the range. I could probably when I pick it up, pick up at seven as I believe the dealer will have some sevens in stock at that time. Just curious. Thank you very much. BTW, they are on even a deeper sale now.
Sick review. Where in cape breton ( Canada ) did you ride ?
I was in Ben Eoin
Awesome haha. How was the battery on climbs ?
@@remoc11 great! I’m sure you burn through them a little faster in top gear going up but that’s the fun way right!?
I’m thinking on buying one but concerned about the battery. How did you it last? Can you get multiple runs in ?
@@remoc11 absolutely. I think you can easily get a 30-40km range no matter what kind of elevation you're riding
Nice video ! Do you have any thoughts or details on the wheel set? It seems odd that they’re using 2.6 inch tires on 40mm internal diameter rims. Typically you’d run a 2.8 to 3 inch tire on a 40 ID rim.
Agreed. I'm not sure what the thinking on that one was, but I don't think it hurts to have the capacity to go up in tire size (if there's clearance), especially if you're riding in the snow sometimes. 2.6's seem huge in comparison to my acoustic bike tires, but you need it to support the weight on these more powerful ebikes.
40mm supports a fatter tire properly. This is a 27.5+ so it’s the same Siamese as a 29 with wider fatter tires capability. You can go up to a a 2.8 if you want to swap. 2.6 is a big tire with plenty of volume.
You still use the mullet on this bike?
Nope - it was only a quick experiment for a couple of days. I don't think the geometry of this bike fit the 29er fork very well
@@fosterbeach Thanks
Just bought 2 of these and loving them so far! What are you using for fenders? Thx! 😊
Awesome - congrats! I’m using the RockShox direct mount fender on the fork
Is there a place for a water bottle ?
Nope 😞
Have the same bike and absolutely love it (coming from motorcycle riding) I'm really impressed by the way you made this video and the footage used. Well done sir. Keep on rocking 🙌🏻 Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
Thanks, Thomas! It was a bit of a beast to edit, but a fun one. Happy riding! 🤘
Great review and break down on the bike. I just became a dealer here in Vermont few months ago and I love it!! So fun all around with handling and jumping. I even just ride mine on second level up on power "standard" and it climbs everything! ALong with great wheelies! LOL As for the display and not showing how far. You can get a Garmin and plug it in.
That's awesome, congrats! They're a super fun ride. I track all my rides on Strava so it's easy to get duration & distance in real-time. What I was referring to is the lack of detail in the display. 4 lights (or quarters) doesn't tell me much, even a % or estimated distance remaining based on the gear you're in would be signiciantly more valuable in gauging what kind of range you have left.
Awesome video! I’ve recently ordered a Moro 07 and tempted to mullet. What fork did you use and how much did it change the bike? Thanks
Thanks, Paul! It was a RockShox 35. The Lyrik that comes on it is a much better fork. Just had another one on hand at the time to try it
Good review, seriously like the Moro 7 & very high on my list 👌
Thanks, Colin! It's a fun ride!
As a fellow MTB content creator I just wanted to say this is a really great production. Great visuals and very informative. Oh just one more thing. I love the RaceFace Kash Money stem looks with the OneUp Carbon bar. I recently got the Oneup carbon bar and was looking at get the exact stem, but I was in two minds about it. Now that I've seen it I'm convinced 🙌🏽🙂
Thanks! Really appreciate the kind words. That stem/bar combo is a thing of beauty, go for it!
How do you not have more subs? Lovely production values my dude!

Dude what mic are you using outdoors?! Sounds like you're in a studio!
😊 not bad for a snow storm eh? Haha I’m using the DJI lav mic and a little post love
Yamaha should make something like the Suron. I feel like they would crush it.
Absolutely! I’m sure it’s just a matter of time
@@fosterbeach to be honest I was a hater until I got an emo-ped cargo. I commute, do trail maintenance and run errands on it. It’s a Kbo Ranger and now I’m thinking emo-mtb.
