How do you fix electric circuit fault.2016

** GREAT ** step by step video, VERY useful, I have NOT done this yet, but it is looking like I will very soon, so: Do the electrics need any special treatment after the reconnections with new battery are finished, i.e. will the car just work/start as normal, or do you have to wait a given time, etc. Also, will it cause a problem if I leave the car without any battery for a period, hours, days weeks??? Thank You

How much of a nightmare is it to replace the entire boot lid? Would the boot lock also need replaced for my original remote key being able to open the replacement? Regards, John

so my button works makes a noise tries to move the lock mechanism but the boot is jammed shut i tried a screwdriver in the manual open and nothing feels glued shut.

Great help thanks. I have a 2012 Picasso and have just done the second change. First one was finger in the wind. Biggest problem is manoeuvring the cable block that covers the battery, and then the weight of the battery.

Supposedly it's the spring in the actuator that wears/stretches which can be replaced for pennies. From what I've read you can't get a corsa one but a volvo one us the same . Will be attempting this soon and will update. Not sure fitting a second hand one is that good as they all go after a while ?

Wow. I will really need to get into this. My Citroen dealer wants £430 for rear handle and the inner plastic brace that fell to pieces. Clearly a design fault, so they should give these out for free

thank you very helpful. i am doing my vauxhall combo as i write. I will try to put some photos up to help others. the metal plate was the problem, but thank to you should be ok. My problem I could only get in the van by the rear doors then unwind the window, the inside locks would still not work untill i switch the ignition on. But it will lock but not unlock

Great Video! Had a look at mine and the trim was loose so managed to wiggle the button assembly out and disconnect it all. Took it in the house and the little black ‘joystick’ looking bit had broken and as I pressed it, it snapped/fell out. My button has been dodgy anyway because the plastic resistance arm inside had snapped too. Anyway, left the button assembly off and reconnected the micro switch without the little black joystick part. I used an iPhone sim card removal pin to press into the tiny micro switch hole and it opened the boot!!! Then, I have somehow managed to poke it so that the micro switch thinks it’s constantly in the open position. So, when I unlock the car with the fob…the boot mechanism automatically opens without me having to press or poke anything. I’ve accidentally made my car better! It still shuts and locks like usual. Just got to remember that it opens every time you unlock the car, therefore, the fob wont lock the car unless you pull up the boot and slam it back down. But it’s definitely better than having to poke a SIM card remover into the micro switch in the rain! I might not even bother ordering a new switch and button. It’s like having a posh car now😂

Thanks for this. But on mine the switch was working fine, even when in the assembly. I tested with multimeter and it works as expected, yet, the boot won't open. According to the manual there is no fuse for the boot so maybe the whole locking mechanism is broken? Anyone know what it may be?

Thanks so much for this video - saved me a heap in labour costs! One thing I found which may help people with a 2008 Grand Picasso is that instead of having to remove the air intake pipe I just unscrewed the air filter cover and tied it off to the side with a bungy cord. Seemed much easier. Also removing the plastic battery cover was a bit of an effort. Gave it a yank up and out with a mini crowbar in the end and it came free. Hope this helps someone.

So i went on TH-cam and spotted your video. Rang the local junkyard and collected the switch today. 1hr later... Problem solved! He is happy i fixed it for him and am happy you uploaded the video. My son's got a 2004 Corsa C and his driver's door always locks on him when he tries to get in or out of the car, fobs don't work so he uses key, not a problem unless you leaves keys in car then you're in the doo doo. Annoying more than anything, may well try tinkering with it. Thanks for the vid.

hey, i've got a corsa as well but my door doesn't open from the inside either so i'm unable to get the plate off because you have a screw all the way down and you can't get there without opening the door. do you have a way to get to it? or should i just forcefully pull the plate off?

Well, I did it. Only required a couple bloodied knuckles. I didn't bother removing the air intake. I did have to remove the wiring harness cover and that was a pain to put back in. There was one wire that kept finding it's way to being a pain in the butt. The fuse box cable you unbolt. It kept snaking it's way back and making it hard to take the fuses off or it'd just be under so it'd be hard to put the fuses back on. Oh and I got hopeful as I just put the new battery in and bolted on the negative clamp then proceeded to put the plastic cover on. So happy was I. Continued to put the fuse box back and harness the cables before realizing I forgot to plug the negative terminal in! It wouldn't be half as bad but the fuse box snap at the bottom was stubborn as all get out. Knuckled got rapped when I was trying to unbolt the negative terminal. That was fun because of how cold it is. Not sure how the pinky got cut up. I do know quite a few swedes got to hear how bad Americans can cuss.

I will never buy french again, ridiculous cars, the megane was just as bad.

Thanks for this, the trim on my daughter-in-law's 61 reg Gran Picasso C4 came off and I've been concerned that even if it is replaced the same thing can happen again....I have experience of less than robust plastic trim design.
