That pump.... god
I absolutely LOVE African violets, I planted a leaf each in soil from my two original plants and got 3 plants from each leaf!! Got greedy and now I have 25 African Violet plants lol!!🤦♀️🤷♀️🥰
Suas begônias estão muito lindas parabéns pelo carinho com elas que Deus abençoe sempre suas plantinhas.
Beautiful incredible variety from one cross!!
Hola. Where the begonia’s have their seeds?
The begonias usually bloom in the winter for me. Then I make my own seed. Otherwise, I order seed from online seed companies.
@@Almax881 can i get the page please
I have Clackamas Rattler but am unable to find any others to purchase and would like to do so. Any suggestions of where to purchase?
How do I know a girl plant from a boy plant I want to try making a hybrid but don't know how. Please make a video of how to do this, it looks like GREAT fun
Hello Eva! The "girl" plant refers to the type of leaves. The leaves were named after the original plant that displayed the foliage. That plant had "girl" in its name. If the plant had been named "Eva," then we would be calling it "Eva" foliage. Haha. I have a video on hybridizing, so definitely look through my channel. There is also a facebook group called Saintpaulia hybridizing that might be helpful.
@@Almax881 thank you so much for getting back to me and the interesting nugget on the Facebook. I looked for other videos from you but I must have not seen the one you suggested. I will review Your plants and knowledge are awesome, the plants are amazing, but never toss them !
👍👍
Nothing like fresh home grown corn 🌽 Beautiful plants
Hello, how is it look like in winter, ..thank s for video, how are you taking care about it in winter..than you ..
Where do you get your seeds and rhizomes?
my mom grew achimenes when i was a kid and i was looking for info to share with my grown kids (they treasure their haworthia succulent plants that they got start from their grama). there are so many beautiful cultivars now-mom just had the usual purple ones. i’m partial to the reds and yellows. are the cultivars and variations harder to grow? thanks for a very good video!
Thank you for watching my video. I tend to like the traditional purples ones. The newer ones tend to have more compact growth habits and better blooming, but they don't produce as many rhizomes for me...at least in my conditions. They are definitely worth it though. Look out for the Serge Saliba hybrids. He has done some great work.
@@Almax881 thanks! my first rhizomes arrive today! i got “tetra himalayan orange” for my first try (from “easy to gtow bulbss”. better named easy to spend a lot of money, but i just wanted to get started). spozed to be 20 rhizomes! should make several pots. i need to find someone local to trade with! do you haave a source you like for rhizomes? be well!
my mom always had “nut orchids” achimenes and i want to get some. thanks for showing how they behave and what i can expect from them. lovely video!
МашааАллох 😍
Where do you get the pots that Pennsylvania and Hawaii 2 are in?
Hello! Those are violet leaf support rings. I think either The Violet Barn or Lyndon Lyons sells them. This video is 8 years old. Yikes. I grow them a little better these days. I saw all my newbie mistakes in that video....with the main one being those plants were receiving way too much light!!
@@Almax881 so I just got into A/V 's I have 5 plants that I built a light stand for.....they are getting light for about 14 hours a day....too much?
nice video
I can't get mine to bloom. Leaves are great but no buds. Does it have to be a certain size before it buds?
your collection is so beautify!
土大 thank you!
I have this one too! I'm in USA. Thank you so much for your great upload of it!
Deer Fern , this is great to hear! It’s neat to hear how something that I created in my little spare bedroom is making its way across the country.
@@Almax881 Wow! How did you create it?? I don't have a clue how to do something like that! Beautiful, thank you so much.
😍🇧🇷
Great hobby! Are you still growing violets?
Yes I am. I need to do some updated videos! Haha
@@Almax881 very cool I have a stand with flourescent lights etc as well, I did see a comment here somewhere it said that you're pretty sure running the lights average you around $40 a month in electricity costs...How many do you have? I don't suspect my set up costs nearly that much but it may be more than I imagined LOL. Not that the hobby isn't worth that monthly. My biggest headache with violets seems to be powdery mildew if you know of any advice for it that I may have not otherwise read online? I know have a fan that I run at least twice a day for an hour plus in the room I have my stand set up. Also know about Lysol, Neem oil...
Thank you sir!! I've always wanted to know what the difference looked like. Just got an Phalaneopsis orchid as a gift. Have ZERO ideas how to take care of it. Did quick research and saw lots of recommendation of folks having success with Better-Gro potting mixes. In your opinion, should a newbie like myself purchase the "Special" mix or the "Phalaenopsis" mix? I already drilled about 20 holes on the side (and bottom) of a planter for it since I've read that their roots prefer air/oxygen.
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. If you can get your hands on the Phalaenopsis Mix definitely get it. I've found it only at Lowes. If the Special Mix is only available, then just had some of the long fibered sphagnum moss and charcoal to the mix. You'll be good to go!
Lovely plant. Love the color a the leaves!
Fantastic video.
It was so good to see the update I love begonias
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. It's great info.
very nice
Please write the full name of the breeder.

@@Almax881 Alcie, thank you for your work, great variety. I already have in the collection.
@@AndreyVaganov , Oh wow, it has reached overseas? That's awesome.
You did a fine job of growing the seed begonias, they look great! About ten years ago, I grew 'Illumination Golden Picotee', these turned out excellent and being the first time I had grown tuberous begonias from seed. Now, I'm growing several kinds including some of the new 'Sun Dancer' series of hanging begonias, all are coming along nicely.
TR_NW , thank you. I’ll try to find some new ones to grow this season as well.
Hi do you sell plants
No, I'm sorry I don't. Look to places like Lyndon Lyons or The Violet Barn for some plants.
Love your collection. The white African violet is gorgeous... do you sell the seeds or plants? I would love to have the white one 😍😍😍😍 I live in Vancouver WA
That white one is Owlsee Spooky. That should help you in finding it. :-D
What's that noise at 1 minute Al M.?
Espectacular👌

I just found your channel and subbed. Nice plants!! :) What violet did you use for your thumbnail picture? That flower is gorgeous!!
Fancypants Papercreations , hello! It’s Rebel’s Splatter Kake.
Great job! I've been looking for some of these here in Mexico.
Oh wow she is so so beautiful💖💖💖💖
Sell the petite plants. They're rare and what's great is they dont take up space. Perfect for an office or desk plant. I love the orange stems of the hybrids.
Hi Al, I enjoy your blogs, your African violets and your clivias. I wonder where you get your different varieties of clivia? Thank you.
Thank you. I got seed from Ebay, CliviaUSA, and SilverHill seeds in South Africa. Monrovia.com has full size plants that you can order as well.
Just found your video. Love these violets. I’m a disaster with violets. I can grow anything else and even have a nice greenhouse. What am I doing wrong? Going to try to find these. Will kill them I’m sure. 🤭🤪
Look for them at SelectiveGardener.com. They should be listed as Everfloris violets. And, I've been known to kill quite a few too!
Those look beautiful! I'm jealous! Try again using a deeper container. I'll bet you have more success. What ever you did this time worked so don't give up.😊
Thanks! And, I was just thinking that I'll give these another shot this year.
Don’t trash them, let me have them lol I’ll trade with you
Almost two years later, those plants are goners. Haha
Do a video on how you propagate your next cuttings
Will do.
Hi Dave. Can you send me Smithiantha rhizomes? szakszonlaszlo@gmail.com
I don't have any unfortunately. Try getting some seed through the Seed Fund of The Gesneriad Society.
Fascinating thank you. What a fabulous video. One question ... what medium was used in the sandwich container that the single leaves were placed into for propagation?
Looks like it was half perlite and half vermiculite.
@@Almax881 Awesome thank you so much 😆
Love your optimara violets, do you know the name of them ? I have a 4 or 5 of opt. violets I started from leaves I ordered. Love them. I noticed your leaves are curling inward on some of the plants. They are receiving too much light , I think. Are some of your centers tight? I have to watch mine too. Try cutting your hours of light down a day by 2 and it might help.or raising your lights. I actually have mine at 20 inches now and they are doing better. You probably know all this but just thought I could share my experience with you.
Thank you June for your response. Yep, you are correct. I'm having problems with them receiving too much light. That's what I get for playing with the new LEDs. I'm playing with cutting the amount of time the lights are on and rising the lights. I've also gone back to fluorescents for a few of them. I know the names to some of the Optimaras. There is a group on Facebook that helps you identify their plants. It's called African Violet ID (Optimara and More).
yep, I have been on the FB page a lot. Just thought you might know, it's good talking to you. I love my violets too. Good Luck with the lights. I actually have my fluorescents at 20 inches above the violets. My violet friends are shocked they have to be so high but it works for me. Don't be afraid to go that high if you have to. It made a huge difference for me.
so did they revive? this just happened to me I realized it today! not sure what to do.
Yes, at least one of them recovered. If the center/crown of the plant is still firm, you have a chance of bringing them back. Remove all the dead foliage. Apply a fungicide. Let it dry out for a few days. Then place it in a small pot with lightly moistened soil. Enclose the pot with a Ziplock bag or something. Give it good lighting (or a grow light), and you should start to see growth in a 2 to 3 months.
I was on here looking up vegetables that grow in tree like plants. I Came Upon your Corn looks like the corn has a lot of ants on it but I heard it's better. because the GMO corn animals don't like it. I am not sure I got stuck on your page with all of your flowers wow never seen so much different amazing flowers. their beautiful good-looking I thought it was only a women thing but man can get into it too.looks like it's hard work you got a lot plants. must be hard work to grow plants from Africa in the building Wherever You Are keep up the good work.🌱🌱🌱☀️💧
I am so totally jealous! They are all so beautiful! I just lost about 6 of my violets to some kind of white mold. It was horrible. I have my fingers crossed that no more catch it. Thanks so much for sharing your blossoms with me since I have none !! 😀
christina P. , thank you. For your mold problem, try to use a fungicide like Spectricide Immunox. You could have had powdery mildew or botrytis.
