It's more than 50 years since Tiny Tim created a career out of this song. But Annette Hanshaw (1901-1985) made an iconic record of it 40 years before him. One of our favorite Jazz Age singers with some nice guitar work (for the era) on this 95 year old disc. Transfer 2024 Doctor Potchke

What a treat to hear Irving Fields in high fidelity! Thanks for recording and for uploading.
Super rare on 45 rpm
You couldn’t get rhythm and pace like this on a 45 in ‘53.
I guess it depended on the record company the 45 came out in 49 probably on Columbia and RCA
Sorry. You surely could get some of this music on 45, including this record. My comment was meant about sound quality. 45 were not so dynamic, kinda dull until around ‘56.
@obert10019 born in 51. Older sister with 78s I didn't start buying record till 57 45s you may have a point . To young to know the difference. I miss the old tube. Hi FIs. Had more balls than this crap

Similar sign-off script to KMGH-TV. You know, if someone in the Denver area watching ch.7 was asleep late at night, that tympani roll would really get them awake! By the way in late 1970, Time-Life would sell KLZ to McGraw Hill. In June 1972, KLZ-TV became what is now KMGH. There are two KMGH signoffs on YT. One of them is from 1980 and features religious segment "The Pastoral Call" and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's SSB film.
Good lord, thank you for this video! In 1980 I was 6 and I truly appreciate the shots of my all-time favorite, The Enterprise. The shot of that steel crown at the top of the roller coaster also brought back a flood of memory.
Beautiful audio of sign off from KLZ-TV. Any more sign offs aside from WRUR?
What wonderful clean sound. Great Voice! Rock solid band. Thank you for posting.
Very good sounds. I would like to listen to more Shirley and Lee if possible. Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼
😺 Yeah!.

This this so g is hot😊😊😊😊
I built the Consolette model in the 1970s. Living in NYC I was able to visit the Schober showroom in midtown and met the wonderful Jim Ramsey. All models had such a clean, vibrant sound that I fell in love. Quite outstanding for an analogue instrument. And by the way, the whomping pedal tones did make it through all the compression!
That must have been a Shlit ton of soldering.
@@doctorpotchke Oh yes! Even the cabinet was a kit in the sense that all wooden parts were precut and sanded. I have absolutely no experience in woodworking but the instructions were very clear and the parts fit together perfectly.
First of all thank you for sharing, since it means caring. Second of all please load the second part it seems unbalanced without it!
Felt like I was sitting in the discussion as well 😂
I am the one that experiences
This discussion seems even more relevant today, than when it was recorded, like what, over 50 years ago I believe.
This is fantastic! Please do upload part two. A true gem! ✌ ❤
These are always really interesting to hear when Alan does the group discourse. It's cool to see the ideas and collective consciousness at work. Thank you for sharing this! ❤
Beautiful sound, strong and vibrant!
Some great footage here. The antenna was constructed and trucked in from New Jersey by RCA in cooperation with the Port Authority. The rooftops of either tower were constructed with a hat truss in order to accommodate a massive antenna such as the one seen here. It was even modernized in 2000 to support HDTV signal transmission. Truly a beautiful piece engineering almost completely destroyed on September 11th, 2001. Did you shoot this footage?
Thanks for the comment. I did.
@@doctorpotchke I actually run an instagram dedicated to documenting photographs and footage of the original WTC complex. I was wondering if you would be okay with me posting this footage on there?

Communism is not socialism. And there are no actual communist countries, just dictatorships. Its crazy
Terry Preston was a stage name Ferlin Huskey invented before changing his name back and dropping the “e” out of our family name. He was one of the most talented performers of his era.
I don't see the bridle path??
Classical mid twenties doo wacky doo! 🎉
I appreciate you sharing this very much! I have his 45’s but not his 78. Bill Cason was my grandfather.
I grew up there in the U.S. 40s to the 50s.Where is the bridle path?
Terry Preston took his Hank Williams lessons seriously! 👏👌🏻👍
The songwriter (Horton) and Hank Williams were both married to the same woman.

Anyone know who wrote this? Great! It sounds a lot like the “novelty” tunes the Coasters would soon do. I know that some of them became the Coasters.
