In 1984 when the Apple Macintosh computer was first released, Apple entered into a partnership with nine Australian universities to form the Apple University Consortium (Australasia). At the heart of the relationship was the ability for departments, staff and students of the universities to obtain Apple technology at reduced prices and to enable development of innovative solutions using the Macintosh. The concept of sharing information and experiences, and the ability to foster educational development activities were the major motivating factors. The model operated with only incremental changes for 28 years, until 2012.
Today the AUC is an association that accepts both individual and institutional members, and has no formal relationship with Apple. Our goals remain essentially the same - to foster the sharing of information and experiences through a collaborative community of engaged members.

I Do Declare...
Presenter: Marcus Ransom
At WWDC in 2022, Apple told us that the focus of future protocol features will be declarative device management. In 2023 we learned that the focus on new protocol features IS declarative device management. So what does this mean beyond the beautifully curated slides of a WWDC presentation? In this session we are going to look at what declarations do, how they work, why they are different to MDM commands and configuration profiles, and some of the opportunities they bring to Apple device management. We’ll look at some real-world implementation examples to better understand our current reality now that we live in this exciting new world!

Nice! Thanks! 😊
Extremely insightful Thomas! I thoroughly enjoyed this overview. Can't wait to explore the applications this has in more resilient localized communications relating to events like information sharing after natural disasters or potential catastrophes like a Chinese initiated Kessler syndrome during their "Thousand Sails" Long March 6A rocket launches.
th-cam.com/video/gQXkHzayaFk/w-d-xo.html man screencapture's bug report says "Better documentation is needed for this utility." It's been over 20 years!
Great summary, thanks!
I wish Scratch implemented backgrounds like HyperCard. That would have been really useful.
Thank you!!
Great presentation Stuart! Thanks for sharing the niceties of Swift Playgrounds. It’s truly is an amazing app, and it can become even more amazing yet. We are crossing our fingers to see more about it this next WWDC! 🤞
this is cool
Great talk. I really enjoyed the creativity that came out of GlobalTalk!
Great talk. Would love to read the blog as well when it's posted
Good one!

HyperCard Rocked!
This sounds very interesting !
I sincerely thank you for uploading this valuable information, however some viewers like me want to know about the the math that goes into to developing a SpriteKit project. It’s similar to getting past the macOS GUI and working with the terminal. This knowledge makes for a well rounded developer
Thank you for the very clear explanation!
Thanks Jon. Some really great ideas (and leads) for implementing and managing ASD8 compliance on MacOS.
Could you re-upload the page of the coffee machine? I wanted to try it but it is no longer available.
Actually a great Tool, and a pitty, that Apple abandonned it. But there ist a successor, called Livecode
So many incredible breakthroughs were developed and then unfortunately abandoned by Apple including... QuickTime VR, WYSIWYG, Object Oriented programming innovations which also includes stuff they ported to the the Next computer platform. One can mention Claris applications which flawlessly integrated word processing, spreadsheet, graphics in a way Word / Excel and Office never could (and remains unstable/buggy to this day). Apple which was the one time leader in the computer industry when it came to desktop publishing and graphic art creation tool sadly never found a successor, which also saw the decline of talent and artists in the computing field. Nowadays the browser and Javascript environment is the really the only ideal choice as programming environment goes... that's about all.
@@almarshall1452 Agreed completely. I recently read of my old books I picked up as a kid that the creator of JS Brendan Eich mentioned in the foreword that he was inspired by hypercards handling of events etc and recommended a book I just picked up last week (Hypercard handbook). Although I didn't notice that part until I picked up the handbook!
Nice explanation. Thank you
Thanks
Very insightful! Thank you!
The DoD wanted a language to replace ALL of the languages they were using, not just embedded. I started SDLAda with the intention of being able to build ultra-portable games/apps from desktop to mobile, when AdaCore came out with GNAT-LLVM, we thought that would enable us to develop to ios, but we didn't consider the GPL's IR clause which kicks in with that toolchain. If I'd have known this when I started SDLAda, I either wouldn't have bothered or looked into starting my own Ada compiler. You could embed SDLAda inside this app as a subwindow (don't ask me how - actually, I think I do know), use the very minimal (currently) texture API to access the texture's as pixels and work on that directly. There are also bindings to SDL-TTF, so you could use that. That would speed up the graphics side.
This rocks! thank you!
Great... you could extract a photo of Dan Winkler from The Computer Chronicles (HyperCard (1987)) or just squiggle some extra curly hair on Bill Atkinson.
Great talk!
Thank you. Great intro to RC app.
Thanx :D
