Port Royal Pirate regatta 2024
Onboard Soul Shine Elan 310. Great day out on the water with a good bunch of guys and a well maintained boat. Which is also for sale at the moment.
We used 2 insta 360 cameras, one mounted on the mast instrument bracket, one on extended selfie stick at rear, one gopro selfie stick at rear and one gopro with clamp but camera had dirty lens.
Good video to show how hard the bowman/owner has to work.

I came out of retirement to help crew on this race, it was a work out for sure, we had more wind than all of the forecasts predicted. On the way to the start we broke a halyard and our maxi screecher fell into the water, we recovered it without damage and able to start the race. Pity I didn't get that on video

Scott purchased a new light air spinnaker and we went out to test it and practice sailing with the new NKE auto pilot and instruments. Boat sails very well with auto pilot, a couple of errors with 2 spinnaker jybes, 1st one spinnaker sheet went under bowsprit, 2nd one, sheet got caught under bow light.

Sailboat racing in Ventura, winds were light and sea state was very rough with big swells due to very strong winds further out at sea, it took a few hours for the strong winds to arrive but the boat handled it well and got a bit of a salt water clean.

OMG that looks fantastic! I see the initiation FEE to use it is $10,000 and 270 a month on top of that! Non-resident$ are a little higher. An olympic size swimming pool right on the ocean? One just hopes it's not affected by coastal erosion in the near future. They certainly wouldn't build a pool like that in Florida or Louisiana or Texas, could they?
No hurricanes here luckily
It’s a pool
Ive been gone too long. Me and my girlfriend used to climb the cliffs down when it was just natural shoreline back in the mid seventies.
Even in 49-50 seconds, I was half expecting to see some land movement. That’s a bummer. Good to see this club there, though.
Lived on Via Almar from 1990 to 1996 when they brought the club back. Really fun watching it come together with all the new members. Sad to say, the second generation of young families were very cliquish during the party functions. It was fun surfing Hag's and paddling in and taking a nice shower there.
Pee water springs is opposite there. We would climb "agony hill" from Malaga cove, take a walk along pee water springs up to shpping center. Fun times.
@@S.StarsNBars have you seen how much water is being pumped out 24/7 from the condos and apts in Malaga Cove
I recall water coming down from those buildings across the street from the plaza. When I attended Malaga Cove. We would check out the various sea life during low tide, the various sea creatures would get stuck in the rock formations known as "tide pools'" This place is a unique area.
In the 80s, this was called "Rossler Pool." Malaga Cove Intermediate was the name of the school above to the left. Very cool getting to see this.
In the 1970s we called that "peewater springs"

Just saw video of what the beach looks like today with all the sliding and subsidence happening. Lots of change! The beach is bigger. All that shallow water you see, the ground just lifts up and becomes more beach. Meanwhile big chucks of street up the suburbs is sliding away. Water is washing out through the bentonite clay layer which is very slippery and it is very strange layer slippage.
Is that current video you mentioned on TH-cam?
@@gina000 There are a few news channel bits on the beach transformation, if you search youtube for Palos Verdes Beach changes, or P.V. landslide beach, but I saw this one by local realtor and lifetime resident, Jason Buck: "Land Movement in Palos Verdes Creates a New Coastline and Uncovers Fossils in Stretch of Shoreline"
Watching the video a second time, this beach club almost reminds me of a huge ship land locked, and now it’s a club.
@@KyleStansfeld-zi6gc yes it does look like a ship
It’s a beautiful place. I googled afterward. Quite a spot.
That’s quite the beach club! I like the piano. It’s very fitting. It’s really hard to describe the feeling I get from this place. Big and awesome, tucked away in kind of a strange location. Interesting, never the less!
@KyleStansfeld-zi6gc I think I will go film it again in the near future
@winterhawk1987 the video is great, if you feel the need to film it again, you could. I think it’s well done. I think the music is perfect! Majestic, with elegance. I think any video would be good. Where I live in Vancouver British Columbia, we have nothing like that.
Awesome, Frank
Great to see you sailing again, love mum
Retirement?
Love it!
Love it..
As of March 11, 2024 the is back to normal.

imangine foiling on an A50 at 90 kmp/h that would be awesome
yes it would, but don't think that is going to happen in my lifetime
I love those canting wheels. Just makes so much sense for boats this size.
Cool video. Sails high, Cap'n
Beautiful images. Little wind. LIKE bottom pressed. SUBSCRIBER already.
Beautiful. LIKE bottom pressed. I SUBSCRIBED.
Thanks for the sub!
Great video, now when I ride that bike path and it's covered in sand and debris, I can see how it happens
Cool, Nice video!
So many moving fingers to keep the boat in focus, and you only get one shot at it
Editing is a great skill
That is soooo crazy!!! Thank you for Sharing and Posting.
nice vid
The whole beach is gone!!!
Cool..
Wow beauty like Mathew Botsford’s story the way he tells it. A new perspective.
So great you can do this still. Hope you all doing well with this race. Might be finished by now.
Nice video, did you record this with the Insta360 X3 cam? Also, have you visited during Day of the Dead?
Yes, that was insta 360, still learning different editing styles. No haven't gone during Day of the Dead
Nice video!
What a sailing machine! Transpac in what...four and a half days? Bummer about the halyard. Must have been chafe, it is the enemy.
Great footage-- amazing video!
Great video-- love the music pairing!
Yes I had been saving that song for a video with the big trimarans
You guys are quite the sailors-- wow-- I love it!
👏👏
You can hear the carbon and lines 'screaming', crazy powers. Awesome to see the sails, just vertical wings. Thanks for sharing 👍🙏
Just amazing!! Are you only the 2 of you on this boat and racing? Love mum
What GPS is that
It's a Tripltek tablet, app is SailFree GPS
Nice video! I never thought we would make it to Anacapa on my Express 27,it was a long light air beat.
Yes it was a long upwind all the way to the west end of Anacapa but the reach back was the reward
That comes out really nice! Thanks Frank!
Nice flow, thanks for sharing. I was wondering if there any direction you can point me to learn and get in to the sport of cat racing ?
do a youtube search of Joyrider TV, he has a lot of really good catamaran sailing and teaching videos, we all started by sailing and racing small beach cats, there are not a lot of big catamarans like this one in the video who race regularly and crew need to have experience.
Damn that’s disappointing
Very cool
