1735th Rescription: Happy Birthday
Discover the unexpected wisdom that comes from examining our failures and how they can shape our understanding of relationships and personal growth. We celebrate Monique's 45th birthday with vibrant experiences in Detroit, indulging in the unique flavors of Mexican and Korean fusion cuisine and savoring the breathtaking city views from our hotel. Amidst the festivities, we take a moment to question the reliability of advice from those who've stumbled in relationships and how witnessing flawed partnerships influences our perceptions of marriage. By learning from past mistakes, we pave the way for more informed decisions, both personally and professionally.
Join us as we tackle the challenge of communicating with the younger generation, where effective dialogue goes beyond mere instructions. We reflect on how sharing the reasoning behind our advice bridges the generational divide, acknowledging that adolescents often feel invincible. By engaging them with respect and promoting critical thinking, we foster meaningful exchanges that support their growth. We also explore the importance of refining our communication skills as we age, suggesting small changes that could break negative cycles. With a focus on empowerment and motivation, we encourage living intentionally and making today better than yesterday.

      @2womuchme Of course this is about you! That's your culture! Your people are the only people who reverted BACK to hunter/gatherers after such great achievements as the pyramids, mathematics, and astronomy!! Now look at you!! America is sending the first black man to the moon before a black nation can. No black nation even has a space program! You can't even put on a clean, pressed shirt with a sports coat. Assimilate. Or you'll soon be just a memory.

    • @2womuchme
      @2womuchme 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      African American culture, as we know it today, only began taking shape after the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Before that, my ancestors were stripped of their language, traditions, and spiritual beliefs due to slavery and systemic oppression. We had to rebuild from nothing while navigating a society that only recently acknowledged our basic rights. Even after slavery, our communities faced constant attacks-whether it was the infiltration of crack cocaine into our neighborhoods, only for us to be criminalized and incarcerated instead of treated for addiction, or the deliberate use of mass incarceration as a modern form of forced labor. The prison system didn’t just happen; it was designed to keep Black people in a cycle of oppression while others profited off our struggles. And yet, in just a few generations, you're comparing us to nations that have had centuries of unbroken progress? The fact that you’re on my page offering your unsolicited perspective speaks volumes. Clearly, we’re doing something significant. My message comes from a place of growth and understanding, yet you presume to educate me about my own people. The irony is, if I had the kind of head start others were given, perhaps I’d be too “mature” to engage with this level of ignorance.
