Hello my friend! My name is Vitaliy. Welcome to my channel!
I’m a blacksmith from the Ural Mountains. For the past 10 years, I’ve been hammering, grinding, quenching, and hardening, turning cold-rolled steel into cool pieces of craftsmanship.I make axes, blades, and all sorts of blacksmithing tools. Blacksmithing Tools: Forging a flatter
In this video I forge flatters of very simple shapes, which are more suitable for machine tools, and are designed for heavier loads than the more classic shape. And I made the classic shape just as a small souvenir in its mini version, all this fueled by dynamics with music. What do you think of this video?

Forging a Broad hewing axe
Recently, I came across a broad hewing axe with a very wide blade and an asymmetric design. The left cheek and side of the blade form a single flat plane, making it perfect for crafting a smooth, even surface on logs. The edge is sharpened on one side only. This particular axe is designed for hewing from the right, so its left side is completely flat. I decided to replicate this axe, but with a...
Forging a small pocket axe
Forged a small axe that you can put in your pocket or hang on your belt. And the use of this axe everyone will find himself: cut bread, carve wooden spoons, cut meat, planing wood, or just show off to friends, because it looks very attractive. Enjoy watching it. Inatagram: / owl.axe
Forged a replica of the billnas axe
Billnas are the most beautiful and reliable on the market, they are already considered vintage. Now almost no one makes them, mostly old samples are restored. Therefore, I decided to forge a similar one, but did it work out? Write in the comments. Subscribe to my telegram channel where I will talk about production and axes and about my life : t.me/forgingchannel I rarely sit on Instagram, but i...
Forged Splitting Axe with Handle Guard
One of the ways to make the axe handle live longer is to protect it with additional reinforcement. At the same time, to make it a beautiful part of the axe, as a result, it turned out to forge such an axe for chopping firewood. The weight of the head was: 1.5kg The length of the handle: 550mm My telegram channel: t.me/forgingchannel

The Yakut axe! Or rethinking the Yakut knife
Thank you
That is a beast of a flatter for the old power hammer! I like it!
Thanks
Good day to you and Fanck you for great video!!! May I ask what metall your eye drift are made of, especially the one you used to create the hammer on the back of your axe? Is this a grade of some kind of rapid steel?
Thank you It's mostly stamping steel, I can't tell you the exact brand
Rather seen the actual process than a 2 minute flashy video
Experiments 🙌
Very dynamic. Awesome!
Thanks
Your videos are super high quality! I think you deserve more views!
Thank you for your support
Great videos! Can't wait to see the next one! It would be awesome to see the handle making and hafting of the axe.
Thanks, I think it will be in future videos
Great work dude 👏👏
Thanks
The head shape somewhat reminds me of a bardiche, maybe this is if a bardiche had a little baby
Thank you. That may be true😱
@@Owl_axe Thank you for the reply. I hope you’ll continue making forge videos like these, but I also hope we’ll see some light testing/usage of the works produced at the end too. Excited to see where your channel goes!
Thank you for your kind words
Thru the whole process the pice was touched only twice on the anvil and hammer and it is a beautiful piece no doubt but it wasn’t hand made
Thanks. The press and hammer are just tools in the hands of a craftsman, like the anvil and hammer
looks good, will you test it, when it's ready?
Thanks but it's ready, tests are not interesting to do, I am only a craftsman who makes tools for people
Is it for sale?
I'm sorry, but no
I love how pocket sized your videos are, but as another commenter said, I'd love to see more of the fit and finish work. Otherwise, very well done, and keep it up.
Thanks, I think all of this will show up in my future videos
Wow beautiful axe it would be an honor for it to execute me
🤣🤣🤣 Thank you
What’s your take on the replica? Does it look like it’s up to par with the original?
Very close to the original. Nice job. Next video, you should put a handle on it. Can't wait for your channel to blow up.
Thank you so much
It looks better than the original. What's the finish you out on it?
@@mattcyphers4993 Thanks, I used a sandblaster and dipped it in oil.
Looks kinda cool, but why? Wouldn't this this help it possibly get snagged?
I just like the look, doesn't affect performance in any way
How many tons is that hydraulic press?
40 tons
it's good tools for kitchen.. 👍👍👍 stil looking forward for me to have my own..
Thank you
okay. nice shape but realistically what Ax things can you do with it?
Thanks, you can do anything you can do with a knife, it doesn't have a specific purpose.
Kindling. That would make a great kindling ax, maybe keep it in the house or woodshed. It could also be a carving ax. Bushcrafters need small, lightweight axes, so there's yet another purpose it could serve.
Wishing you show more details of the build, awesome looking axe but more we get see you making it better, like, you didnt show making the handle, putting your maker's mark on blade and just the whole fit & finish, also how black color on blade
Hi, thank you for your comment, as I'm just starting out, sometimes I don't get everything I want to shoot or get bad shots. For now I want to see if this kind of content is in demand and whether to continue further
I enjoyed the making of the Yakut Axe. I appears to b extremely useful.
Thank you
Magnifique travail bravo 👍
Thanks
I never thought the overstrike protector would be integral to the axe head. That is clever
Thanks
Great work!
Thanks
Great video! i would love to know what power hamer are you using, mind sharing that? I,m looking for one myself but have no idea how much power i need to make stuff like this.
Thanks, I have a 160,80,40kg hammer at my disposal. Take something in the middle, it's always more versatile. But the best purchase would be a hydraulic press)
Thank @@Owl_axe for your reply. I will research the hydrologic press before I make any decisions, good tip. In the mean time I keep watching you video's 👊
👏👏👏... thats very very looks good.. really like that.. thats very useful. for me
Thanks
i realy want axe lile that.. but that just my dream.. 😁
That is a good looking splitting maul. Nice work on making it. Great idea for the guard.
Thank you.
That was a great video, new subscriber, can't wait for more of them
Thank you for your support
Thank you
Fixing a hundreds of year old invention! ❤

@@m.j.k5928 I'm sorry, but I'm not making anything to order yet.
@Owl_axe When you do... Might I suggest tapping into the local Renaissance festival? The individuals that attended such an event do look for real and useful steel, too... But more than the attendees, the participants in particular, would be interested in your fantastic skills. If you were able to perform your smithing in a guild yard, you'd draw quite the crowd.
@@deemushroomguy Thanks for the offer, but so far I've decided to focus only on youtube
@@Owl_axe it was more of a suggestion than an offer... But whatever ✌️ Have a great day, dude! Good luck with your TH-cam channel!
Ooooo what an axe the billnas
Something similar to number 1 and number 3 from the catalog
Beautiful work demonstrating real finesse when using the press. Really appreciate the handle guard, although I imagined the axe was going to be bigger (not a criticism, just my thoughts), but it looks like it works very well. Thanks for sharing this.
thank you, it’s very nice to read such comments
thats some awesome content brother!
thank you, it’s very nice to read such comments
How much does it cost
