[ANOTHER] 200 Years & Counting
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 ต.ค. 2019
This channel documents the planning, preparation, unfortunate demolition and eventual reconstruction of a classic two-hundred year old federalist style brick-end New England farmhouse. The homeowners welcome you along for the roller coaster ride of a lifetime as they tackle this project start to finish (or so we hope).

Air Sealing Electrical Boxes with 3M Putty Pads
How did you butt-up the rockwool to the existing brick? We're looking to do something similar. Cheers
Have never heard of a window buck. Thank you for sharing this video. The Blue Skin looks really good.
As long as it does not damage anything, there is no such thing as overkill with insulation.
Great work!! Every detail helps.
Spooge into it!
'Incredible overkill' 3:23 seems to be an understatement. I am impressed by your quality standard, but at the same time can't help thinking you may need therapy.... Outside or wet environment boxes... OK, but conditioned air interiors ??? I am now very curious what percentage of plastic receptacle boxes are sealed with putty. I would be amazed if it was more than 10%.
So when did they send out the crew of pick up carpenters, hopefully before you issued Payment. Lol.
How did you get the window sills to be flesh the exterior insulation?
Hope they flash over the insulation onto those bucks which I would also waterproof as this is a really critical detail.
Belt, suspenders, and elastic
What tape/flashing detail did you do on between the foundation and sheathing? How far does it run up on the sheathing?
There's 3 videos on his channel that shows this
Ugly
These framers are terrible hope you don’t hire them again
I'm speechless.
Yea no thought in this box should always be a min 16 on center not 24 .also way too many windows no where to put bed dumb design considering it's a box not rocket science .
Looking good that’s how to mock it up get a feel for 👍
I heard you just spent your 1st night in the house. Congratulations. I'm so happy for your family. The last 3 videos I just watched show lots of detail. I'm happy to see original doors and other items in the house.
Once screws and or nails penetrate thru. it’s air and moisture performance is compromised not self sealing
VP 100 is self sealing, self gasketing, so no vapor/air/water can penetrate.
@@tcranston NOT self sealing. It’s a thin permeable piece of plastic with an adhesive backing Sample a piece …poke a nail thru it leave the nail then drape it over a Pail 🪣. Add water 💦.
Never heard of fentrim before. Looks like useful stuff.
My bad just saw the foam sorry
Where is the foam sill seal & termite shield 🛡️
Nice install of that Comfortboard!
Looking good did you cavity rock behind the brick veneer also. Going back 10 years or so Hammer & Hand pioneered strapping on top of Rockwool with adjusting screws to get it flat
Is there a reason why you are doing two layers of fenrtim?
[ANOTHER] 200 Years & Counting Pretty neat! Where is this house?
All of this wonderful insulation but then there’s a massive hole in the form of a fireplace?! Why?
Fire throws ridiculous btu’s
With a house that is sealed as tight as that one they will have a hard time getting a fireplace to draft. The fireplace might be sealed up and just ornamental.
So awesome, Ia loving the plan and the original floors. Underground wires are also such a great plan and will add to the look of the time when the house was built.
Love how the floors are coming along...it's coming along 🙂
Ia loving it all and the addition of the original doors and window is so wonderful. Thank you for the update.
Yay! Looking good...love the doors and trim 😊
🙂
🙂
It's great to see how nicely they cleaned up the brick and maintained the original pattern
Coming along nicely
Love the colors...
My vote is the color on the right in the living room and the left in the dining room, but it’s hard to tell over video. And Ollie remains adorable…
Love the doors!
I prefer the lighter yellow and the lighter grey...but that's my 2 cents
A general comment. The colors in place when you purchased the original house were circa 1950-60. I remember the house prior to that time as being much lighter. Mostly wallpaper, I believe, in a nondescript cloudlike pattern. Woodwork was a very subtle grey. You probably never came across the original woodwork, as Aunt Millicent and Bro spent countless hours, over many years, scraping the original paint off prior to applying their paint selection.
Both choices in living room appear very dark. Prefer the yellow on the left. Colors are HIGHLY personal, however.
I think we found 4 colors that we can cross off the list. Maybe I'll change my mind in the light of day, but I doubt it!
Congrats on the completed siding, so nice!
Nice tutorial feel to this one, appreciate your dedication to maximizing the original materials
Too bad the initial frieze solution didn't work out - glad you noticed so quickly and came up with a new solution
I would be out of breath from all the steps. Keep it up. looking good.
Good morning Dusty. Thanks for sharing the updates. It looks like it is coming along nicely. I know you have had to deal with setbacks and shortage and pricing and yet you and your family are closing in on the finish line. It is also nice to see some of the original items back on the house. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for showing how you are restoring the woodwork and combining it with the new wood to maintain the historic design. I love how the old and new come together
Well said, Jenn!
It looks beautiful with the old woodwork back up...can't wait to see it all up.
Sorry for the poor audio quality! Didn't realize it until I posted...
It was great to see the drywall up...things are progressing again 🙂
Love seeing the journey back to life, and what an amazing bonus with the basement
