Took a chance and purchased this album from Rick Allen's "Flamingo Records" 40 yrs.ago. Never heard of Mr. Davis, but it is now one of my favorites. Truly a gem!

My family grew up listening to the Soul Stirrers. My Dad has all of their albums. My brothers and sisters had a group, and we sang their songs a capella. I still enjoy listening to them.

All the tunes played on the album are popular tunes of the time and are used as jumping-off points for the improvisations. Miles Davis had done much of the same a decade before. And just as Miles's work was in transition, so was the work of many other artists.

These guys were not only great musicians but they were great to work with. Jerry was a great drummer, Richard was an incredible bass player Reggie and David were great musicians also. The shows were always great,miss those days…

Omg I’ve been looking for this record for 20 years. Lol. The US Army issued this same LP on Vinyl. But it had interviews in between each song from the Army Radio Station he did. It was my Moms. Thank you so much for posting this.
