my time with schneider trucking.
Where’d you go?
@@chase4est1 been super busy over the holidays and home time. I’ll be posting a recap soon!
@ understandable, glad you didn’t dip. I did refer and dry van before switching to flat bed in August and enjoying the similarities in your videos. My first load was a tarp load and it took me like 6 hours, lol.
@ it be like that man. My first tarp was in Canada 🤣 8 hours or something ridiculous. I’m getting faster though
Cool video Mr McLovin 😂, thank you and very entertaining plus your videos are always good for beginners, I’m not a trucker but I might become one. Keep the good work Mr McLovin 🍀
@@LuisCarvajal-t1e if I had a dollar for every time I been called that 🤣 I’d be a millionaire
What about Intermodal? Ever done that and what do you think about it?
Do they do urine or hair analysts before starting?
Yes I’m in my second week. They did it my first week.
@ they do just urine ? Or both
Why can't you just get to the point? Too much BS!
I went from flatbed to dry van. Where in Fremont? Im from fremont area. Newark.
You are just out of shape. I had the same thing happen with my lumber tarps in the summer. Like you said, its like a hard intense wotkout. Ince you get used to tarps and securing loads you will never feel that way again
You always tell them you jeed to be home 2 days before you actually have to be home
What's up w that creepy mannequin next to you?
You’re a good content creator: Well spoken, clearly understood and sticking to the subject.
Worked for Schneider bulk from 2018 to 2020 as my first company. My experience was similar to the OP’s. I agree with mostly everything expect the comment that a driver can’t make a million or more from a trucking job. Maybe OP meant it can’t be done at Schneider, which I agree with. But it totally doable to earn anywhere from 80k -125k per year as a W-2 employee driving trucks. I’m doing it. It’ll be tough to earn those wages the first 2 or 3 years as driver, but after that those jobs exist. Just need to find via word of mouth the good companies and apply for them. Also being willing to relocate will be helpful.
@@abctrucker8601 yeah I meant with Schneider
Thank you for your perspective
Eat of the Mississippi is a hard no for me. Virgin River gorge is usually moving pretty good. You should have gone down to 40 to avoid wind anyway and mountains.
@@mikezunker had to hit those fuel solutions 🤣 everything was on the 80
@@Ode2squatchyy oh holy hell. When I was with England, I was number 2 on my fleet for fuel stop violations. Since then of the 4 companies the most I was told was "please try to not buy fuel in a third world communist shit hole" 10 4, Arizona and Nevada it is
How is doing mountain driving in the winter? I’m a rookie driver that hasn’t been through a winter yet but can’t imagine doing those long steep grades without jakes.
@@AC-pg9ws it’s not bad. I have chained up twice. Once over Donner and once in Washington. I was light both times which helped. Just really slow it down before the drop, especially when heavy. The worst is I80 through Donner and in Wyoming.. I assume Schneiders policy is still, if you have to chain you DONT have to go if you don’t feel comfortable.
You complain a lot
Barely 2 months into being a flatbedder and now talking smack about dry vans...😂😂😂
@@nyausyaoc7207 I think you are allowed to after you do your first tarp 🤣
@Ode2squatchyy I'll give you that💪🏾
New sub, also that's crazy you can't wear headsets that's ridiculous
@@dukedaman9705 it was a big don’t ask don’t tell policy. Almost all driver had them that I had seen
@@Ode2squatchyy ok thanks so I won't ever mention that again
Hm are the bonuses
how far back did DOT look at your logs?
@@CarryMePlz2239 8 days
any more relays with Melton? I had one the other day that took me 5 hours to complete (all local, only a few miles). How is Melton about the fitness thing? I think the recruiter told us the company pays for your gym membership. If drivers are able to take advantage of gyms, they are lucky!
@@CarryMePlz2239 literally just got a relay today🥲 I have been lucky not getting many. But it’s close to the holidays so I get it. Relays for flatbed are 1000x worse than dry van relays imo. But I get to take there load and it’s going to PA so that’s cool
If im flown out abd finish the course how will my living situation work im new to trucking
Like say I finish up their entire course and I get a job wherever I end up will they provide a spot to kick it until I can get my own apt
Great content driver. Keep it up. And keep it positive. The drivers that don't make it dont have the patience to do their time. The money will come worh experience. First week at the Pumpkin co..all is going okay so far. Just the usual new job learning curve.
are you regular OTR or dedicated?
@@nyausyaoc7207 good luck man you’ll do good. Just pay attention and don’t hit anything and you’ll be good!
@@CarryMePlz2239 OTR
@CarryMePlz2239 need to wait 3 months then apply for Dedicated.
Did you get any RELAYS?? 🤣I had to ask for a day off this week to get some paperwork done. I sure hope that doesn't mean nonstop relays for me. I've been hearing a few complaints around here about OTR, people not getting miles. Glad I switched to dedicated
@@CarryMePlz2239 NO RELAYS! 🥹
I always take 130 to go around Austin. Kinda sucks to go 30 miles EAST of San Antonio to get it but better than sitting hours in road construction
@@CarryMePlz2239 I swear my trailer was inches from those concrete barriers on the shoulder 🤣 I was sweating. It was wild 35 was pretty busy all the way to to Fort Worth. I thought it would die down after Austin, but nope still 3-4 lane highways all through Waco
@@Ode2squatchyy Yep! 130 is relaxing because of few cars and trucks, but once it merges into 35, the relaxing is over 🤣
Nice brother , good to see new truckers on the road 💪🏻🔥
Yeah it’s a great starter company. I stayed 18 months my first year OTR out of Charlotte OC after my first year I went dedicated 68 cpm + 2 extra cents. It was for Joann’s NE DMV I actually enjoyed doing dedicated. It’s good to get that yr under your belt then you can move to another account. Dedicated really help perfect my parking which is very important!
Are you still with shneider
Schneider pays 68cpm now? It was .42 when I was there.
@@WalkingDead2024prolly depends on what state your in
Where in California do you live? I live in ca and do local work.
ventura county
Does Schnieder let you take part of your pay as per diem to save on taxes?
@@grimmtruth I don’t think they have that when I was there. Melton does though
Yes they do, unless you do local or California drivers
Wait til you have around 5 people , all trying to give you directions at the same time!
@@tomlennie8538 waiting on it 🤣🤣
I start with Schneider Monday morning. Any tips? I plan on getting the training and starting with them for my first three months just to get that experience under my belt then bracing l branch off.
*then branching
@@kydveli I’d try to stick with them for at least 6 months, it doesn’t look good to company hop (unless your planning on working for a family friend, or have a for sure gig) pays gonna suck at first, but you gotta push through it. Just pay attention and ask your trainer as many questions as you can think of. The in house course was good, but once you go out on the trainers truck for week, you’ll learn way more. Go slow, don’t hit shit and you’ll be good. Schneider is very forgiving as long as you don’t hit shit. Good rule of thumb is try and shut down when you have only 2 hours left on your clock, especially if you’re in CA. They usually give you plenty of time for appointment times, and even if you miss it they’ll understand your new. The first six months you’re just trying survive hahaha. Best of luck, you got this
Do they have regional?
@@DearhRATTLE yes !
Schneider invited me to training then after having my info for a month before hand and being in training for 2 weeks, they sent me home saying they had a problem with my background check. And have been trying to collect the cost of training. I told them I’m happy to come and finish training and work . I’m waiting to see how seriously they try to collect. They seem to be bringing in people and not finishing the training but trying to make money off of them. I wouldn’t trust them. I promise for those thinking I did something wrong and not saying so . I did not do anything wrong. The Charolette trainers liked me and I was very far ahead of others Schneider has issues
You had felonies or something?
sounds like you were "well" paid by Schneider. On OTR, I get .41 + $10/hour. Yeah, I'd rather shut down instead of dealing with big city traffic and potentially blowing through my 14 hour clock because of a $12 relay
@@CarryMePlz2239 those relays were the worst, I’d get at least 1-2 a week. We will see how often that happens here at Melton. I don’t mind relays as long as they are shit miles lol
@@Ode2squatchyy yeah, that's why I hate "going home". That's when they usually give me relays. Once I had nothing but days of several local runs that felt like relays. I've been working the Coke contract but they worked me way too hard the first week and start of this week so I already requested to go back to OTR. What I means by "worked too hard" is that they'd just give me too much and I barely had time to take a shower before having to sleep (of course, some relays in there too!!)
@ I’m pretty happy with my relay I had with melton. It was 790 miles so it was cool. Yeah even when I didn’t come home I still got some relays lol. But melton called me today asking if I can do a relay load when I get back lol.
better safe than sorry. Just a day or two ago, I saw a guy's load that shifted and a part of it was partly loose and about to fall off
Thanks man for this video! I have 6 months of experience with my uncle and i turn 21 here in December. Gonna do some local dedicated work with them soon!
How's it been at Melton? Has the pay been the same, more, less than Schneider? Melton probably doesn't have the "on duty" pay, do they?
just posted a video talking about it!
Hey Driver, try looking up tarping videos.. There's a bunch out there that'll give you tips and tricks. Just keep at it and you'll figure it out soon
@@nyausyaoc7207 appreciate you, I definitely have been after this one
yep, my roommate from CDL school started with Melton. I sent him a message a month ago asking him if he's still there, and he said "Yes, and they gave him a brand new truck"
First here😂....congrats on the new career. I found your Schneider video very helpful. Headed to their Orientation in about a week. All the best.
@@nyausyaoc7207 good luck brother. Despite what people say, Schneider is a great place to start!!
@Ode2squatchyy absolutely.
so how's the new job?
@@CarryMePlz2239 just finished training! Literally get my truck tomorrow. Video coming soon
I hope you like Flatbedding! Some guys from my CDL class went to flatbed companies. I know they liked that tarp pay. I've followed a few YOutubers that started out in Dry "Can" and moved onto to flatbed. Who knows.. maybe I'll do that. I'm only a little worried about lugging around the 90 pound tarps
rookie Southwest OTR driver here. PA must be the California of the East. It's 55 on so many roads, and mountains everywhere! Oh, and truck stops are so small compared to Texas!
thanks for watching! Yes, i am a little nervous about flatbed. going to driving split axels which will be new, and learning how to tarp/strap. I was in great shape pre OTR, not so much anymore. i will be uploading videos as soon as I complete training, let you know if its worth it!
