Doing a PP to the left and right feels a bit different. You might have to adjust where the pad of your thumb touches the thumbstick to make it easier to get the right flicking motion.

Unfortunately the timing required to perform this tech is the same as actually doing a perfect pivot. This tech just allows for a larger margin of error when pairing a perfect pivot with a tilt because you don't need to allow your control stick to return to the neutral position when you do it this way.

Any advice on thumb speed for the left stick inputs? I find my thumb to sort of lock-up at the base joint when attempting the motions.

Exactly, and if you get this tech down easily, you're almost there to doing perfect pivots naturally.

If you're having trouble with that hand muscle working with you, try to kinda let go of the controller a little with your left hand and introduce a wrist movement. I'd say keep practicing with just your thumb, though, because it'll take time to build up to where you can do perfect pivots often without cramping. Remember to stretch, too, if you're getting sore, and remember to stay hydrated. It really makes a difference.

That's what happened with me. The control stick flicks required for this are the same as regularly doing a perfect pivot, but doing it this way allowed me to integrate pp attacks without having to return my control stick to the neutral position. Once I got used to doing them this way there was just that extra little bit of practice needed to do pp's normally.

I don't play with the gamepad but if you can set the second stick to attack, it should work just fine.

John Gray the dash attack comes out when the perfect pivot timing is off from what I can tell, that might be your issue. remember you can go too fast and too slow with it so you gotta find the rhythm. maybe play in a quiet room and listen to your sticks clack, that has helped me in the past

SamuelCurtis Yeah, it goes like this: 1. do the perfect pivot input and hold the second direction. 2. input your c stick direction. seems like you're able to buffer a c stick input to come out right after the pp if you time it right. The window for error is larger than regular pp attacks so if you're not that great at using pp's for micro spacing, you can still use them while attacking relatively easy.

Should I input my c stick and second direction at the same time or try and do it one after the other?

SamuelCurtis I get the best results when I input the c stick input not at the same time as the pp input, but very soon thereafter, possibly a frame or two later. I never tested it so deep as to find the exact numbers on this.

Yea. I dont know. You mentioned somewhere in the comments that it works better if you flick faster, but sometimes I flick too fast I cant even get the dash to come out, and other times I am just too slow. Ive gotta find the inbetween. Thanks for the video btw! This is a neat trick

This tends to work better when you have the problem of doing PP's too fast. I'm not sure if you are having the problem of being too slow or not but if that's the problem then this will not work. :(
