Welcome to Guitarlele Grampa! I'm Jim Henkel, bringing you a channel that celebrates Jesus in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Guitarlele Grampa features a variety of videos including song covers, chord demos, old time hymn sing favorites, guitarlele and ukulele instrument and gear reviews, and Guitarlele Grampa's Cigar Box Adventure. If you are new to or not acquainted with the guitarlele, check out my "What Is That Thing?" video. In short, a guitarlele is an instrument in its own right. It is like a guitar because it has six strings, a wide fretboard, and a large headstock. It is like a ukulele in body size and tuning: A-D-G-C-E-A (G-C-E-A is standard tuning for the ukulele, the guitarlele adds a low A and low D string - the G is also low). I started this channel in order to teach some basic chords to my grandchildren after giving them each a ukulele for Christmas 2020. I've branched out from there. Enjoy!

Tip of the Day! Use a capo!

What more can your Guitarlele Grampa say? Use a capo! A capo barrs across a particular fret and raises the tuning a half step at each fret. A capo at the fourth fret raises the tuning two steps. A song in the key of C is now in the key of E.

I just received one. Seems to be made of good quality components and hopefully won't wear on the uke finish. My 4SB didn't come with a lower strap button and I really didn't want to go drilling into it. I got a black one to match the color of the uke. I think Sammy would be pleased. It looks good!

Have you considered turning the lid over so the legible printing and design work is on the outside of the bottom? Just a thought.

Nice factual review. As a guitarist with small hands, I love small instruments--three-quarter guitars, guitaleles, etc. I like the GL6 but find the fretboard very wide and flat (no radius), like a jet runway. Still, it sounds good and has an amazing 16 frets to the body.
