I loved the Mr Belvedere movies and Clifton Webb. People forget that Clifton Webb had a successful Broadway career as a song and dance man on Broadway before coming to Hollywood. That s why seeing him teaching the coeds in the sorority girls to dance is funny.
It would've been fun, if Clifton Webb and Alan Rickman had lived in the same generation, to see which one could out-sneer the other...they were both so perfect at playing supercilious characters!
I developed a farm and painted all the barns grew fruit trees, all sorts of different types of flowers and vegetables. I did it in six months. I beat my record and I came away 3000 fruit trees and 20,000 plants this year. I saved all my seeds so I could develop more farms in the future. That’s how I go to college.
At 39:02 and 48:50 it is considered to have different connotations to the word "dink" in this movie , still its amazing that these scenes passed the censors .
Mr Belvedere displays a characteristic of much of mankind, arrogance, putting himself on a pedestal and looking down on others, telling everyone else what to do, lacking humility. At Matthew 18, when Jesus disciples asked who the greatest is in the Kingdom of the heavens, Jesus said: "Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become as young children (very teachable, willing to listen), you will by no means enter into the Kingdom of the heavens." "Therefore, whoever will humble himself like this young child is the one who is the greatest in the Kingdom of the heavens; and whoever receives one such young child on the basis of my name receives me also." "But whoever stumbles one of these little ones who have faith in me (due to being arrogant, thinking they are always right, demanding), it would be better for him to have hung around his neck a millstone that is turned by a donkey and to be sunk in the open sea."(Matt 18:1-6) At Matthew 23:8-10, Jesus makes plain that having religious titles, such as "Rabbi" meaning "Teacher", or "Father", is being arrogant, haughty, saying: "Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One (Jehovah, see Ex 6:3, KJV)." "Neither be called leaders, for your Leader is one, the Christ. But the greatest one among you must be your minister. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled (and eventually be everlastingly destroyed), and whoever humbles himself will be exalted (to life everlasting, by their "exercising faith" in Jesus, John 3:16)."(Matt 23:9-12) At Luke 18, a Pharisees piously or arrogantly demeans a tax collector, saying: "He (Jesus) also told this illustration to some who trusted in their own righteousness and who considered others as NOTHING: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and began to pray these things to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like everyone else-extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers-or even like this tax collector." On the other hand, the tax collector humbled himself, who "was not willing even to raise his eyes heavenward but kept beating his chest, saying, ‘O God, be gracious to me, a sinner.’ I (Jesus) tell you, this man went down to his home and was proved more righteous than that Pharisee." I was about 12 years old seeing this in the 70's with my uncle who was my father figure. It was a Sunday afternoon feature. Boy, did I have fun and laughter seeing this movie wwih him and our family around. us. They have all gone now,; yet their laughter and memories remain with me to this day at 65 years of age.
