Drone Video of Fatlips Castle
มุมมอง 4846 ปีที่แล้ว
Fatlips Castle is a pele tower in the Scottish Borders. Situated above the River Teviot, it was built in the 16th century by the Turnbulls of Barnhills - a family of notorious Border reivers. The castle is said to have obtained its unusual name from the habit of the members of the house to greet guests with less discretion than was considered decent at the time. One of the pleasures of a visit ...

If you ever get a chance to go back... it'd be cool to see a winter flight as well!
Will be visiting there on a daytrip this Saturday thanks for the pictures we went an another daytrip to the hidden gem of Cove Harbour. It was like sitting in a live picture amazing
Excellent 😎👍 love the eildons. Cool footage
I grew up along the road from that kirk. My grandpaw and grandmaw, school friend, and possibly my aunt and uncle are in the cemetery there and my father ashes were spread onto the burn close by.
Pleased you found the video and it brought back some memories for you
I cannot thank you enough!! Through studying genealogy over the years, I've found this is where my family was baptized before later moving to Ireland and to the States. This isn't the same building but seeing the same landscape my family saw a couple/three hundred years ago, is amazing!! As the "family historian" of our Stephenson (Stevenson, Steenson, Stinson) family reunion, I'll be showing this at our next get-together in September 2022. So from Lawrence County, Alabama where many Stephensons still reside 200 years after moving here, thank you!! This is amazing!!! 💕
Thanks Ginger. Happy you found it of interest.
Nice video but you've spelt it wrong ! It's Catcleugh
Thanks for pointing this out
Climbed to the top when I was a boy ( 74 now) still remember the awesome view..
Very nice video. Thankyou Mr. Melrose. I believe the 'Home' and 'MacDuff' clans formed to become the Hume clan.
My 13 x Grandfather was knighted here at Cessford by the Earl of Northumberland in 1482 after the English drove the Scots from Berwick,His name was Sir Ralph Harbottle and he married the Earls daughter Lady Margaret Percy,They had one son Sir Guischard Harbottle who was slain in hand to hand combat with James iv of Scotland at the battle of Flodden in 1513.
Very interesting information Paul. Thanks for this.
I would love to see this in person ONE DAY 🙏
I was up there today. Bit windy. If you reduce the yaw response curve in the controller it makes it easier to keep the subject centred in frame during an orbit and is smoother starting turns, easier on the middle ear! Also easier on your fingers, trying to do precise manoeuvres with tiny tiny control inputs gets tedious after a while. You were a bit "rough on the pedals" ( Helicopter parlance) in that turn before the climb up the tower then late on the pedals during that yawing left orbit and late stopping the left yaw too. Otherwise pretty damn good. Or pay a tenner and get a Ground Station Pro POI license to do it for you machine smooth without even touching the controls! It's a wonder to behold.
Hi Gordon. Great footage. Really enjoyed it. Would you mind if I used a wee bit of it in a forthcoming music video of mine? Happy to give you a credit. Here's a link to a song we released earlier this year. Several drone operators were happy for me to use footage and receive a credit at end. Cheers J. m.th-cam.com/video/2YXwDw3Z0wI/w-d-xo.html
Wow! !Psychedelic colours. Its doesnt even look like Peniel Heugh.
My mother was Landell, a sept of the Home/Hume clan. Hundreds of years ago, my ancestors walked these grounds. It's overwhelming to see thus, thank you so much!!
Thankyou. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and it brought some of your family history to light

Thanks for your comment. Yes, Foulshiels is just across the Yarrow Water from this castle
Gorgeous, perfect lighting too. Trivia: Somewhere around there, in a place called Fowlshiels, was once the cottage of Mungo Park, the 18th Century Scottish explorer of Africa.
Love it

Ohh this looks awesome. Great quality. How did you record, in 1080/50p???? Even your turns were smooth....Thumbs up, mate. LuBi
Thanks LuBi. Yes - 1080/50fps I find this give the smoothest result, although I have also tried filming in 50fps but rendering down to 25fps which also works well.
