Recommended seller: banzaihobby.com/?referrer=CNWR_292261568725038 The most used radio this days from Kyosho is the KT-531P with the FHSS protocol. If you want to update an older AWD to the new protocol, this is the video for you. Realistically speaking, the update is useful only if you plan to buy a Flysky Noble NB4 otherwise KT-19 is perfectly still adequate. Enjoy and please subscribe!

    Sad they won't change a thing.. Kyosho is over priced period, as a long time racer there not worth what they want for there kits. The mini z idea was a great one but it ends there. I had the 4runner about 2 months ago, hop it up as much as I could without doing a electrics swap & it still sucked with the weak 4 wire servo that you cant swap without doing a total electrics swap. I sold it within 2 months, they look great but that's where the satisfaction ends. I have to agree for 200 + you should get hex hardware & dampened shocks..

    Found your channel and left an abo. I just started Mini-Z and want that it last longer than your chassis. Hopefully with the new VR Mario Kart, Kyosho will earn some money.

    Why do we buy them. I'm watching for the 2nd time 😂

    I had a chassis crack along the battery compartment on an awd mini z. Although the build quility was ok, some of the servo wires were not ideally positioned and inadvertently snapped as I was moving to the new chassis. I have a love/ hate relationship with the mini z platform. I ended up refitting the whole chassis separate reciever/ servo /esc combo.

    i received mine and during the first drive the motor wires came loose, i had to resolder them. Ive since parked mine and have gone with the Atomic and GLA cars for this size, they are both much better quality and are both Carbon Fibre and aluminum. Kyosho should be ashamed of themselves

    good suggestions! I also found when I turn the front wheel all the way to one side, there is strong WAGGLING/Vibration on the wheels, I don't know if this related to the reason you indicated in this video. By the way, could you show me where to buy the 3X4X0.5mm metal rings? I can't find it anywhere on line.....Thank you

      @z-collector7518 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, finding the shims is problematic. I found them among the parts from a T-rex 250 helicopter kit that I built a while ago. It's not a complex part yet... it is hard to find.

  • @herj1085

    I looked at mine and don't see how tightening the wheel would crush them together and cause any sort of resistance binding. I tested the swing shaft with one bearing and then with two and do not notice a difference. There seems to already be a lip inside the knuckle that prevents them from touching each other. Also, the outer bearing in the video I think is placed backwards as the ball bearings are visible. I believe from the factory the non-shielded-looking side was inwards as to not get so much dirt and grime in it. Does the washer sit tight in there? I would think that if it wasn't and it could move around that it would cause issues. The bearing could even be rubbing on the washer itself... it looks like from the video that the inner ring would be touching the washer... I don't think this is necessary as the knuckle already has the lip inside.

    • @z-collector7518
      @z-collector7518 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not crushing them together because of that little lip you noticed. It is pushing the center cylinders of the ball bearings towards each other and that is not optimal. The little lip keeps only the outer cylinders of the ball bearings apart and the washer that I propose does the same for the centers. If you study the design of bigger RC cars you will notice a pin on a hex nut that prevents lateral forces on the ball bearings.

    Your frustrations are understandable. In Kyosho's defense, they where bought out by an investment firm some time ago. Not sure what the name of the firm is, my apologies. After this buyout and subsequent reorganization, production of the Mini-Z line shifted to China. All of the latest Mini-Z models, released in the last year or so including the RWD models, have a different, see CHEAP, shiny plastic all about them. That is not to say that the MA series of chassis have not had issues. The brushless AWD MA chassis all have stress crack issues. The Brushed models have a horrible tendency to overheat, melting the upper chassis the PCB screws to. Fortunately for me, mine has not seen this as I'm more a fan of the MR-03 and don't drive it often. MR-03 is just a better drivers car. Its good to see someone bring light to this. I doubt it, but maybe Kyosho will catch word of this video and rectify the issue. Thanks for another great video Z.

      This chassis was bought before Kyosho changed hands. They should take a hard long look at the plastics used by LEGO. That stuff is indestructible. If you ever stepped bear footed on a LEGO piece you know what i mean. I am a little worried about their future and I hope we will be able to enjoy their products for a long time to come. Moving to China if quality checks are made correctly shouldn't necessary be a problem. Lots of very good quality stuff is made there. I just hope they won't become a money making machine with disregard to their long time customers. I hope they preserve their DAN. First I was thinking to buy an Atomic BZ chassis and call it a day but - I like Kyosho. I guess I want my money to go to them and support their business in the hope they will survive and improve. There is no other brand on the market with something similar to their ASC bodies. That deserves some recognition and maybe also some indulgence. I am glad you like my videos and thank you for spending the time watching them. Cheers!

    • @TinyTiresRC
      @TinyTiresRC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Understandable. I just found it questionable, and quality issues have been brought to my attention by fellow Mini-Z aficionados. It may just be a fluke for all we know. If Kyosho ever used the same plastic as LEGO... They'd be considered weapons.. lol. I too hope to enjoy their products for a long time to come. As far as the Atomic cars, I'm under the impression they can accept certain ASC bodies, I know the GL-R from GL racing does.

    Should have gone with atomic bz or atomic sz. Carbon fiber chassis, and high quality parts. Faster around the track too. The bz is probably faster than sz, but I went with shaft drive because the gears are covered and should be more reliable when playing outside. You could even get a rtr bz for the same price. Just need the battery. One lipo is the same price or even less than the aaa competition batteries for mini z.

    I got one of these 2 years ago and after 2 weeks i had 3 cracks and reverse stopped working. I really just lost interest because it was hard to use with all the damage from maybe 3 small hits agaisnt wood.

    Everyone I know has complained of a brittle chassis.

  • @herj1085
    @herj1085 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was all done from maintenance? So, taking it apart and putting it back together did all that?

    • @z-collector7518
      @z-collector7518 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. All this was discovered by me when I first disassembled it for maintenance. All the cracks appeared by themselves (this car was NOT crashed) or because of incorrect assembly by Kyosho. All the parts that are caked are deep inside the body and perfectly protected in an eventual crash. So it is just very brittle plastics.

    Best greetings from Germany, thats an honest Video 👍🏻 and it's make me sad, Because it looks like the Quality from X-Mods. I also wanted to get one, but not in this quality and for that price! 🤔

    • @z-collector7518
      @z-collector7518 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sad indeed... I love the bodies that they release and now I don't know on what to use them anymore. I am trying to find a simple and affordable solution in CAD and maybe fabricate some parts but that should have been Kyosho's job.

    • @JLeitnes
      @JLeitnes 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be cool and I hope that you find someone. Think of the marketing so that we have all of it 😉😁👍🏻 And @Kyosho I hope that the video kyosho brings to thinking and they will improve something, also if only for the next chassis 🤔😉

    I bought a drift model with the M-020 chassis , it didn't work properly it turn out it was broken in a similar manner to yours , I got in touch with kyosho Japan and now it's in Europe hopefully being repaired or replaced , good luck sir !
