FarmAllis
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ก.พ. 2023
I hit on the name for this because I have Farmalls and Allis Chalmers tractors and related equipment. I grew up mostly on the Orange ones, riding around on the toolbox of a 52 WD with Grandpa. Still have that old girl and it still runs. I consider myself to be a give credit where it's due kind of guy, that's where my interest in the Red ones got started. Meadow Green, Oliver tractors and equipment interest me too. Currently have 3 plows but that's it. Would like to have something from a super 55 up to a 2255, should be able to find something. An uncle has a super 55 I've offered to adopt... Time is on my side.
I have a small farm in central Ia. where I try to keep these things working. Moldboard plowing is one of my biggest interests, currently have 18 and always seem to be hunting the next one. This channel will focus on the tractors and equipment, daily maintenance and such. Also enjoy hunting and fishing so some of that may get sprinkled in.

Yep, that's how I remember it too, lol. When I was a kid, just for fun we would try different ways to get on from in front of the rear tires, just to make it challenging. Of course I am far removed from that kid stage now and quite content to get on from the back as you demonstrated.
Thanks Ken!
I'm not much help as to what the lift links should be. My model 63 is the same as your 63's, solid link on one side and adjustable link on the other. I had a model 52 plow a few years ago, and it did have adjustable links on both sides. But I can't remember if one side was physically longer or just adjusted longer. I have a spare 1"-14 tap, somebody cut it off to try to make a bottoming tap out of it. I'll send it to you if you want it. I feel your pain about the radio, we have similar problems here. Hope you have a good one, Mike!
Thanks Evan. I'll double check the pitch tomorrow. Don't want you to send a tap and I measured wrong.
Howdy, Mike! I've never thought they were hard to get on and off of. My grandpa could still get on and off of his in his 80's. He did have a flip up seat on his. I won't say I think they are the most comfortable to ride though, the clutch pedal position is a little weird to me but I still love the tractor. Your 856 sure sounds sweet 🎶🎶 Thanks for sharing, Mike!
Yeah, that 8 has a sweet sound! I moved it out of the shop and was getting ready to put it away when I thought a little video would be fun.
That’s actually a 64 not 74.
G day from Ont When we bought used WD {45} dealer came up to adjust plow I don't remember but it took him quite awhile r they that hard to adjust Ths
I’m like you, I never thought it was difficult to get on a WD series tractor, but I have heard it over and over that certain people would never buy one for the sole reason of it’s too hard to get on and off. When getting on a more modern tractor you still have to swing the right leg a long way over to get into the seat. Not much difference to me. Thanks for the video.
Yep. I hope this helps some people. Thanks for tuning in!
G day I shpuld buy to see. THs
I am a Farmall & Allis guy. 1951 Super C fast hitch NF - 1954 WD45 gas WF
Very nice! I wouldn't mind having a Super C around here, or a 200 maybe? I've got a line on a fast hitch plow for one.
Howdy, Mike! TH-cam seems to be having issues, I can't see what I'm typing right now. Tried to comment on your other videos today but having the same problem. Nice looking tractors there! Thanks for sharing, Mike!
I'm just glad you're watching Evan!
That CA really sounds sweet! I think a C or a CA would make an awesome mower but I've got way too much crap to mow around and too many low trees to get under. That fuel tank cleaned up nice! Good idea on the heat gun, I'll have to try to remember that! That 3 bottom slat plow really looks nice, it must not have plowed a whole lot. The 4 bottom would look really cool behind a D17 but I bet it would be a load for one. The guy who bought my WD45 new pulled 4 14's with it, I think it would struggle with that load here. 3 14's seems like a better match for it, and I don't want to hurt it for no reason. I had a 3 16" plow for a couple years that was really nice but it was a larger frame model 80 plow so it didn't fit real well and it was so heavy I couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground unless I left the loader on. I know what you mean about videos taking a while to do. I have no idea how some people can crank them out like they do. Thanks for sharing, Mike! I hope you have a good one!
Most people with as much grass as I have to mow would just get a zero-turn with a 60" or so deck but I'm a tractor guy and like to run tractors that leave one hand free.... I'm going to work on the 73 plow today some and maybe shoot a drill press video. Thanks for checking in!
You weren't kidding, that's a crap load of tires! I'm not looking forward to putting new tires on my 45, they have ok tread on them but they are getting a lot of cracks. Hopefully they will last a few more years. Thanks for adding them all up, Mike!
It's amazing, when I tallied them all up, over 70! The 14.9x38's that came off the 400 left yesterday afternoon. I found a marking on that 16.9, it had been ground off. Was probably sold as a 'blem'. Thanks for watching!
Put new 18.4x38 firestone radial 23s on my 1086 and the duals in 2021. My 1456 has the firestone field and road 20.8s and I'm not looking forward to changing those out.
@@harvestingharrolds1086 I didn't mind mounting the 20.8's, paying for them, not so much fun.
Nice tool box! With that big of a shop it will be nice to bring your tool box over to where you are working so you don't spend all your time walking across the building to get tools. I guess that's the lot of a loader tractor, it doesn't seem to mind. I hate going out on black friday too, I think I've only done it once, and unless I need something really bad I don't care if I ever do it again! Thanks for sharing, Mike!
Yeah, it was a circus, I didn't even leave the house until 10:30.
Enjoyed the video thank you
Thanks!
Howdy Mike! Been in Michigan at the in-laws for a couple days, working in the shop tonight having a few barley pops and catching up on videos. Bummer about the tube, sounds like it had seen better days anyway. I like using time warp too, keeps things moving. I like your hood prop. My dad used to keep a piece of broom handle in his car for the same reason. Thanks for sharing, Mike! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving
Thanks, sounds like you had a good Thanksgiving. I did as well and even did a little shopping yesterday. Have a video I'm working on about that. Have a great rest of the weekend!
Gd day from Ontario. Watching with ploughs , horse & buggy neighbours , they were takin moldboards off & outting on horse plows had a meter to tell how much they were pulling, found allis to be very easy pulling. But the price of shares were crazy for them. Ths
Interesting. Allis plow parts are crazy high if you can even find them. Ontario is my favorite place to fish. When I get retired in '26 I intend to spend at least a couple weeks a year there.
I too have an 856 with an M&W turbo on it. My favorite here. Also have 20.8x38's on it. I put an Iron Bull ROPS on it. Makes it nicer to run mowing hay. Had a friend rebuild the pump on it and let's just say it isn't stock anymore. Really don't need all that extra power but it is nice to have on the discbine in our hills. It still runs cool yet. I have all red now but when we had the dairy I had a 170 Allis. Was quite the workhorse for its size. Beautiful shop.
Thanks! The shop is really nice, especially this time of year. Dad had a 175 Allis when I was growing up, I really liked it. Would love to have it back but that won't ever happen. It went away in 1984 and I don't know the serial number.
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh I know the feeling on trying to find previous tractors. Not easy
@@JeffMilitello It's never easy and when no records were kept and it was traded 40 years ago it's nye on impossible.
Like your hood prop for the Buick, guaranteed not to fail, LOL.
A tool of many uses! I eventually got those struts changed. Clocked a deer with it a couple weeks ago and the Buick's future is in doubt now. Found another one to drive but may "fix" this one enough to keep it going down the road for awhile yet. So many deer between here and work.
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh That's too bad, the deer are thick here in Wisconsin too, and I drive it at night. Hit one with my truck, gonna get one of those bumper/grill guards and make a tank out of it, lol.
@@KenStewart-kt8ol Ken, I work nights so I run the gauntlet 5 days a week. Sad thing is, the one I hit was at 3:15. afternoon. Rut was in full swing, gravel road with a narrow ditch and standing corn. Happened really fast. I dated a girl from NE Wisconsin (Phelps) for a couple years, kind of miss her. Long distance is tough.
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh Long distance works out sometimes, been married 32 yrs and started out with 4 hr drives. Funny thing is she did more of the driving and never hit a deer. Now I hit the deer within a few miles from home, lol.
Hope you're having a great Turkey Day!
Thanks, kind of quiet here, heading to a friends house soon.
Was a good video 👍
Thanks!
All start with the valve stem at the bottom less chance taring it off
Yeah, you're right, just got ahead of myself or something. Don't have any to change on the horizon but you never know what may show up around here.
Nice looking Olivers your right about the 1600
Yeah, I probably should have bought that 1600.Brainfart I guess. Thanks for looking in.
I've never seen that many mounted corn pickers in one place, very cool old iron.
It is something to see. I have a buddy in Mechanicsville that has a picker day every fall that usually has about a dozen rigs. Hopefully get some video there next year. Thanks for watching.
That was a job, man that rim is in nice shape! I need to get a bead breaker so I can do tires with the wheels on the tractor. The rims on the Oliver aren't very good, but new ones are 750 bucks each, so I'll probably try to patch them if I can. Good work Mike!
The rims sealed the deal on buying that tractor! I patched one 28" spin-out rim that is now on my NFE 45. The rails make it tricky.
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh I had a similar experience when I bought my WD45, they had already replaced one rim and they had the other one there but hadn't changed it yet and it came with the tractor. My eyes got wide when I priced how much new spin out rims cost! Yikes!
Looks like a good time! That 4 bottom is really neat, the 1750 sure knew it was back there! I'm looking forward to working on my 4340 plow, probably won't be this winter, but I'm hoping I can at least get some tires on it so it's mobile and not just sitting in the way. The 770 is going to need some more weight on the rear to pull it anyway. Your slat plow was sure doing a nice job! Thanks for sharing, Mike! Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Evan! I'll be looking forward to seeing the 770 out plowing, and happy Thanksgiviing!
Would of liked to saw some footage of the case corn picker in action on the 730 or 830 case. I have a 730 case corn picker special
A friend of mine, Mike Kalsem, shot several picking videos that day. Not sure if he got footage og=f the Case or not but check out his channel. I know he had at least 4 picking videos.
Good work, it's fun to see a sampling of the tractors I grew up with. We had a 400 in the 70's, it was our loader tractor, and originally the big horse on the farm. In the mid 80's Dad got an AC 6060, I was a teenager at the time and had a lot of fun with it. Saw a WD through the door opening on the right of the picture, I grew up with one of those too. Ours was a 53 that my Grandpa bought new, I learned to drive on it and spent many hours on it. We still have it today, 3rd generation.
Thanks Ken. If you watch the equipment tour videos, there are two WD's and Two 45's around here as well as several other Orange things.
Luckily your tank is sort of squarish to work well that way. I have a Farmall Cub that has the tank as part of the hood, would be a little bit trickier to pull that off, lol.
You're right, the shape made it easier to work with. When I did the one off the 756 it was bigger and harder to manage.
Nice way to clean a tank and get some work done in the process. The tank on my Oliver is rustier than I'd like. I put an in tank screen on the inlet for my sediment bowl and haven't had any trouble more trouble from rust. That's a nice 185, those are good sounding tractors. Thanks for sharing, Mike! I hope you have a good one!
Thanks. I hope it got clean! time will tell I guess. Yeah, the 301 Allis is a sweet engine, I'm a big fan. Hope life is treating you well Evan.
I have a CA tank you can do next. lol. My son’s puller build has some nasty old gas and a little not a lot of surface rust.
It's really not too bad to do. My one CA tank had damage, pinholes. Tried to braze them up but never got them to seal, finally coated it with por 15. Like to have a better tank for it but CA tanks are hard to come by.
@ they are. This one has a dent but not really worth fixing due to going on a puller. I never tried that sealer.
@@justinblain928 The por 15v worked good, just follow the instructions to the letter. I don't coat unless really necessary. My tank could be fixed with body putty but I would prefer a nicer one, someday.
@ I’ll check it out
Hey Mike! My grandpa had one of those garden seeders. He had trouble pushing his so he tied a rope on the front and he would use a grandkid for pulling power. I don’t remember seeing it after he passed away, I don’t know what ever became of it. Really handy little planters. Thanks for sharing, Mike, that brought back some good memories. Hope you have a good one!
Glad you enjoyed it Evan. I'm getting caught up on the video I shot last spring now so things will slow down soon.
That little Cub runs like a sewing machine! It looks like you have a lot more fun using that tiller than I do with my old Troy Bilt. Thanks for sharing, Mike!
Thanks, that thing makes gardening so much easier it's hard to describe. I don't mind a little work but not going back to a walk-behind! If you remember from the equipment tour, have another No. 2. It will probably go on a 782 eventually. Have Dad's monkey wards in the shed, needs some work yet. Probably try to fix, then sell it! Man, looking forward to retirement, will attack the project list with a vengeance, when I'm not fishing!
Thanks for bringing us along, Mike! It's good to see a variety of tractors working together. Looks like quite a few pickers showed up, that's really cool! Thanks for bringing us along, Mike!
My pleasure Evan. Always a great turn-out for this event. I've got some ideas how to make the videos better going forward, hope they work out.
Howdy, Mike. If that 1600 was in decent shape, that was a steal of a price. I would have liked to see the mounted picker with the sheller. At least you found a couple treasures to bring home. Hope you have a good one!
Evan that 1600 was not a bad machine by any stretch. I have 19 tractors now, kind of picky what no. 20 is. I'd really like to have a 770 or 880 or something from the 50 or 55 series. The floor jack, (5 ton) will be a great asset around here! I have a still picture of the picker I could send you, e-mail is in my profile. I left you a second reply to the other video, don't know if you saw it? The Gleaner "Z" engine in that one is a 226 like what would have came in a 170, I think. Pretty sure they were 8 to 1 compression. Made pretty good HP,m not sure what rpm they were governed at? As always, thanks for watching! Kind of hard to believe how this is progressing.
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh I did see the other reply, I guess I forgot to respond to it. My cousin has a WD45 with a Gleaner engine in it that he pulls. I was just curious if it was the same engine or a different one. I still think it's funny that I ended up with a 770, I wanted a Super 77 or Super 88 but I got this one cheap. For a long time I didn't like the looks of the 3 digit tractors. They grew on me, I guess. I'm glad your channel is growing well! That's pretty cool! Hope you have a good week, Mike!
@@evanaustin2636 Thanks! over 100 subscribers already, would have never guessed that would happen this fast. I'm going to work on a video of changiing the wheel center and mounting the tires on the 400 pretty soon. Starting to learn how to do a little editing with the iPad.
We are doing plow day today for the club. I’ll be posting some shorts later today of our Allis stuff and a couple other tractors
Cool! Where are you located? We were supposed to plow here this weekend but just too wet. More rain in the forecast and low temps aren't helping. May get to shine some moldboards yet this year but not looking good now.
Here in Mexico we grow corn and wheat in rows 30 inches apart. wheat in four-row furrows. Greetings from Yaqui Valley Mexico.
Thanks for watching and greetings from Iowa!
You have good agricultural machinery, greetings from Mexico.
I like how this is the "last" installment, until the next auction LOL! You've got a nice selection of plows. That Gleaner engine, is it the Gleaner version of a 226? I know the tractor pullers like those. You've got plenty of stuff to keep you busy in the new shop this winter! Hope you have a good weekend Mike!
Thanks! There was an auction yesterday I went to yesterday only bought a floor jack and a set of transfer punches. Bid on an 88 Oliver, gave up at $1750, it sold for $3100.
I missed the part about the Gleaner engine. Yes they are a 226 like a 45 has with some minor differences. Crank snout is one and the journals are the same as a D-17 has, pretty sure. Many have been put in WD's and 45's.
👍👍
Thanks!
Love the cub cadets !
Thanks, they are fun to tinker with. Get a lot of work out of some of them too.
That must have been some really hard ground. The plow was doing a really nice job! It gave the 856 a good workout too! I wonder sometimes why people were still buying shear pin plows by then. I'm sure they were cheaper but what a headache. I remember in Mike Kalsem's video, the plow behind the 2150 kept tripping bottoms, I wondered if that was why he was going so slow was to try and keep them in the ground.
Thanks for tuning in Evan. No idea why that plow was speced the way it was? That dirt really plows pretty nice, was running in low 4 direct at pto speed, probably 5.5 mph. I am really impressed with the job it does , very nice. The 2150 in Mike's video leaves me scratching my head. Someone else was running it earlier in the day and going faster. In dry conditions, auto reset bottoms will trip on the toughest dirt. Seen that on the Skunk river bottom several times. 720 IH plows, big ones behind Big Bud tractors. Hopefully get some footage of that someday.
Howdy, Mike! You definitely like your Cub Cadets! My uncle is a cub man, he has a 129 and I can't remember what his other one is, 102 maybe? I'll be looking forward to more of the story on the stuck 756. You've got a pretty impressive collection, Mike. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks. I did some work on the 7 today. Decided to change the oil, had gas in it. When I dropped the plug, first thing I saw was green. Ughh, Don't even want to think about that! Guess we'll see where that goes. Have a good one!
77g rake
Thanks.
I've got shop envy...that's really nice space! Your 1066 looks mean with the duals on. I'm with you on switching to 30 inch rows, I'm on 36 also because of the picker. People want a fortune for narrow row pickers and if I bought a different combine I'd probably have to sell the picker and the All Crop, and I really don't want to sell the All Crop. I'm glad you found a head for the 450, those are really nice tractors. Thanks for sharing, Mike!
Thanks Evan! The shop has been a long time coming. Feels kind of strange to have concrete, and warmth. Probably do some shop updates as we go along. I ahve a really nice work bench in another building that will be going in, not till next year though. Going to purchase a decent toolbox and storage cabinet possibly. Have a better drill press to get moved in... Really lookiing forward to getting back to work on the 450!
Slat plow was a 70 series. Grain drill is 11x7. Ca disc is a model 20
Thanks, had to dig out Norm's bible to figure out the difference between 70 series and 80 series. The semi- mount is an 84 as it has the cushion trip bottoms.
Lot's of cool old equipment there! Wish I could get my hands on some of it!
Thanks! Took quite awhile to accumulate all this treasure.
Another good video, glad I found ya. Good lookin tractors. I love my D 15 ser 2 with factory 3 pt. I put new tires on it and it goes to the wood lot in winter and hay in summer.
Thanks again! With a little luck and weather permitting, the 15 is going to a local plow-day next Saturday, along with the 856.
Good video, Im also IH and AC. Picked up D17 ser 1 this summer and I wish I had those tires.
I like those D Series Allis Chalmers. My dad had two D19's. A gas and a diesel. One was his loader tractor. Had an F11 Farmhand loader on it. In the winter he would put a comfort cab on it, and rear tire chains. It was amazing how much diffetence that comfort cab made when it was cold as hell out. Like below zero. The way the operator is positioned on those tractors, it got really nice and warm down in there. It was a little bit of a pain getting on and off, cuz you had to crawl up over the back of the seat, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world That thing fed a lot if cattle over the years. They were good tractors. Trouble free and very dependable. And I like the way they looked too. They just had a really nice look to them. I spent a lot of time on one dragging a four bottom plow around with one if them. And they were good haying tractors too.
Is the tachometer drive on that 6080 come off the back of the alternator?
I don't think so, it's different than 100 series tractors but can't remember how it drives for sure. The tach still works just the hour meter that is on strike.
Glad you finally got this one to load! Videos used to take a long time to load for me, now they are loading pretty quick but I don't know what is different. I'd be interested in that subsoiler, we may have to figure something out! I love that All Crop drill. I've never seen one in person. I found one on Craigslist a few years ago, they wanted a FORTUNE for it. I think it's awesome that you have your Grandpa's WD. My Grandpa had a WD45 he bought new as his first tractor, my uncle has it now. Not much of it is original, it had a pretty hard life. Thanks for sharing, Mike! I hope you have a good one!
Thanks! Well, the sub-soiler isn't going anywhere, we'll figure out something. I'm going to buy a laptop or I-pad or something to help with this stuff. Went to Wisconsin on my annual beer run today, good times! Help coming tomorrow to move the 450, maybe shoot part 4 then? Thanks for watching!
@@MikeJensen-wo7oh Got to get stocked up before winter hits, LOL. If you buy a laptop, I would not recommend a chromebook. That's what I use, they are cheaper, but there is almost no software that is compatible with them. And it won't talk to my phone anymore so getting videos off the phone is a major pain in the ass. I'd like to try something different, but I'm cheap...unless we're talking tools or tractor stuff...
@@evanaustin2636 Well, I'm an Apple guy so something from them for sure. I'll get there, in time. Really happy this got on there, finally! Hopefully it's dry enough to plow next Saturday and I get plenty of video, and can get it loaded!

Howdy, Mike! I got confused when the title said "part 3," I thought I missed one LOL. Hopefully part 2 will get loaded ok. Some videos load easier than others for some reason. I like your Kinze, you don't see many small ones. I've seen one near here that is a 4 row with the split row units on the front, that's the only row splitter I've ever seen that small. Looks like you've got a good collection of Cub Cadet stuff too! Thanks for sharing, Mike!
Still working on part two. It's about twice as long as this one, lots of random stuff. Then, down to two buildings and some misc. stuff. You may see part four before two! I may re-shoot two with the go-pro and try again. I missed one Cub Cadet and probably some more things. I like that Kinze but am looking to go to 30" rows at some point. Of course, then one needs a different corn-head too. My cousin used to have a 4/7 Kinze before he went to 30" rows, it was a really nice planter. Thanks for looking in!
