Fantastic!!! Thank you.
Love the alliteration!
Your teaching is brilliant!! Your tips are so useful and well explained and makes a big difference for me. It really works!🎉😊

Thank you, this exercise was really helpful!
Thank you,sir.
Comecei os estudos hj!! Muito obrigado pelos vídeos , ajudam muito mesmo! Grande abraço!!!
World class sound. Beautiful!
Thank you!
Nice 🎺🎺
Thanks ✌️
nice tks
Good question! These exercises are meant to be played without using the valves. In this situation, those top-space Fs naturally sit very sharp: approximately halfway between F and F-sharp. The great Edward Tarr promoted just relaxing and allowing those “out-of tune” notes to go where they naturally go, thus allowing the player to play with the greatest efficiency, place notes right in their center, and play with an ideal tone quality. I hope this makes sense and helps!
Why are you playing F# when it is F natural in the key signature?
My chops are fried after this one! 👍🏼
And again today..I love this exercise
@@MikeM91320 same, not using it as a warmup tho. At least at this point
Nice intro with sax but a trumpet would have been better 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi. You do realize that that was Maynard Ferguson's Band!!!
I just discovered your channel . What a great site. ! Thanks .
Thank you! I hope it’s useful!
I played Nice and Easy a million years ago lol ! recognized it in 3 notes : )
Got it
This is great Peter. Kinda shocking people need the music for it.
Thanks so much for this, Peter, I am a senior (61) returning to my instrument after 30+ years away. It's a challenging journey of patience, but these exercises are very helpful.
Wonderful!
Really gonna need these tips. First year doing All State
I love how you explain this "floating" concept. That imagery alone reduces tension, stress when ascending from the starting note. It brings a concept of levity which allows for easier transitions without adding unnecessary tension in the chops, throat, shoulders, etc., especially as the intervals get wider. Well done.
Can’t wait for your Allstate videos this year!! Last year really helped a lot. Thanks for all the time you put into making these videos.
Thank you!
Violonistrs and brass band players should have to pay to do vibrato. Vibrato is ment to be a rare and tasteful embellishment. Imagine if you played a grace note before every note you played. Wouldn't it sound awful? Just like the vibrato you are playing here. So vibrato. should be delicate and sparing. Many performances could do without vibrato at all. Vibrato is so often employed to cover up a poor sound or to appeal to the brutish, popular notions.
Thank you for your comment. The scope of this video is intended only to be a lesson in how I teach the mechanics of doing lip vibrato. It does not go into the issue of musical style. Especially with regard to international and genre-specific norms, vibrato is a very complex and multifaceted topic. While I disagree that vibrato should be rare, you are correct that it should be employed tastefully and thoughtfully. The wide, jarring vibrato that you hear on much of this video is meant for illustrative purposes only - for learning the correct muscle motions - and I did my best to clarify that it should be done in a more subtle manner (see 4:16 and 5:08) when actually performing. One should seek beauty of sound at all times. I often say, "Vibrato for shimmer." Vibrato is not an end unto itself; it is an often subtle means to the end of finding "shimmer" in the sound. Incidentally, some of my favorite players whose sounds serve as a model for me are Tine Thing Helseth, Phil Smith, Tony Plog, Markus Stockhausen, Ole Edvard Antonsen, among many others. I hope that helps - cheers!
What makes the lips vibrate is the resistance❤
Yes!❤
Great stuff, Peter! I'm excited to explore your channel!
Doing the excercise is making me realize that I do a lot of playing, but not really a lot of practicing.
Wow! this is the private lesson I needed.
Very cool!
Thanks, Gabe!
Hearing this lesson again years later was a breath of fresh air. I think I’ll go practice now.
Where can I find the sheet music for this drill?
Feel free to send me an email, and I will send you a copy. pwood at South Alabama dot edu
very cool.
What size hose did you use?
1/2”-5/8” inner diameter; 3/4” outer diameter; 5.5’-6’ long
I have been having good results with 1/2 inch Sharkbite Pex. I’m still experimenting. Pex is very stiff, but you can roll it up to about 10 inch diameter. It’s at all the home stores for around 35 cents a foot. It is kind of like a spring loaded bear trap, but I used a lot of zip ties. I also use a small piece of 1/2 inch outer diameter rubber tube as a gasket for the mouthpiece. Pex is stiff enough to play straight into as the lead pipe. Small pieces of 1/2 outter diameter rubber tube also work well as a gasket interfacing the tuning slide holes to the 1/2 inner diameter Pex (different configurations possible)
Good job
oh my god bro i love this so much me and my friend are trying to do this but the piano is just so hard, do you think you could send me the sheet music for it? both trumpet and piano please
