SUGA Magazine brings you snippets of the first Miss World Samoa 2013 press conference held at TV3 Apia, May 29th 2013, Samoa. Samoa enters the Miss World pageant after 23 years! Finalists from L-R Penina Maree Paeu, Crystal Tikeri,Te'eva Matafai,(Director), Barbara Auva'a, Rose Taateo. The Inaugural Miss World Samoa pageant will be held from June 1st - 8th. CORRECTION: Lenita Schwalger competed as Miss Western Samoa in the Miss Universe 1981 Pageant, not Miss World. The same for Ivy Warner in 1982. Julianna Curry was Western Samoa's representative to Miss World in 1981 or 1982, I can't remember. Noanoa Hill was the last representative for Western Samoa at Miss World until 2013 Penina Paeu who competed as Miss Samoa since 'Western' was no longer used in the country's name. Most girls who competed in Miss Samoa World and Miss Samoa Universe pagents were afakasi, true. This was mainly because many full-Samoan girls were to shy or not allowed by their parents to participate because of the swimsuit category. The current Miss Samoa pageant does not have this category, and has a strong focus on Samoan culture, hence more full-Samoan girls participating.

todays selection of girls for this even are very unfortunate because the organisation who are involved in a search for real deal contestant are incompetent or unsuitable for what they believed is more eloquently and purposely .To be honest i have never seen any of today's beauty compare to of those at the past.

Hi Jay no there is no undermining..In order for a Miss World rep to represent Samoa at the miss world, a Miss World local competition needs to be held in that country to find its rep..Miss Samoa cannot automatically go....Local comps have to be held under the miss world franchise to choose the rep..they have it everywhere miss world nz, miss world OZ and so forth.Miss World organisation rules NOT miss world samoa committee rules. The new miss world comp received the prime ministers blessing
