Charlotte Area Transit System
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 พ.ย. 2013
This is the official TH-cam channel of Charlotte Area Transit System. CATS is the largest transit system between Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC with over 70 local, express and regional bus routes, a light rail line, services for the disabled, and vanpools serving more than 23,000,000 trips each year. Managed by the Public Transit Department, a department within the City of Charlotte, CATS maintains a dual focus, managing and continually improving day-to-day operations of the region’s transit services within a six-county area while advancing planning for a regional rapid transit system integrated with land-use plans which includes light rail, commuter rail, bus rapid transit and expanded bus services.

3 and 4 should be off the table imo. We need rail to airport
Imagine the lynx red line is a light rail With two tracks on it
I'MMA JUST COPY patest this and Bug my Metropolitan org CYMPO AZ
FIRST A book For A new National Standard Cause Yall maths good soo
Wow impressive work and I love it. This is an amazing advancement for a southeast city. I'm looking to bring something similar from Greenville to Spartanburg.
I can't wait til the North Lake bus starts running every fifteen minutes, seniors at Rockwell Senior Apartments Community really desperately need it,the closest stop is seventeen minute walk 🤯
Seniors need a bus to come near our facility, the closest is seventeen minutes away, please help!
Thanks for the analysis! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
It would be better if you would have a way to give the people updates on the routes that's being changed. That's important as well.
Keep on mine, public transportation IS reliable! Alot of jobs don't trust or go based on employment catching public transportation. I am a perfect example.
I just leave my comments here in the comment box. I'm at the shelter on Statesville called Roof Above. Just wanted to say thank you for the free fare in the mornings. You don't have to do that I just wanted to say thank you while I was here. That's another reason why I'm here, is to show my appreciation. I'm currently not employed right now (Self-Employed) and font have an income. I chose to focuse on studying on my small business here in Charlotte. You can see that here online. So I'm here to show my support and get involved in SOMETHING while I'm around. Thank you for having me.❤
А, так вот для чего они там.
The lynx silver line railroad crossing With? Neg bells and US&S gate 95 maintenance
At 6th Street right crossing bell maintenance replaced
The one on south Blvd north left crossing with six lights gate need the gate to be longer like 10 red things
What about adding a station to the airport and get rid of the silver line.
I'm talking about the maintenance
I mean Siemens crossing gate
maybe then can get old amtrak california f59phi trains as locomotive suggestions and also the rail can buy ex amtrak p42dc locomotives too
I think the most likely option will be Siemens Chargers paired with Alstom Bi-Levels
HELL YEAH
Multiple unit Transet
decades overdue congratulations charlotte
At Hebron in Sweden safetran Gates one they need a led Harmon light the old lights is need be replacing
Ed Ruscha work gives hommage to the streets of Los Angeles. We think the streets of Charlotte are amazing.
On a scale of 1-5, I give both designs (Bree and Nico) a two. For perspective, check out the work of Los Angeles-based artist Ed Ruche. As a long time daily CATS bus rider I come into my range & scope from a user's point-of-view.
At the bridges farm Road need to fix the road and new crossings
Why instead of spending all this money why didn't Charlotte just buy a few Articulated buses, which are basically almost the same size of these, it's so much cheaper. If Charlotte wanted the economic development around those areas they could've just added permanent sheltered bus stops which would've been a fraction of the cost and took less time. This street car only goes like 30mph anyways. The rail installed inside the roads has made it so dangerous for drivers as it shifts your car into the other lane. I love the blue line and commuter lines but this doesn't make sense other than economic development in the area. The whole benefit of a train is that it can go faster than cars, safer and carry more people. But on this street car, it's slower than buses, slightly bigger than an articulated bus and it's massively more expensive considering roads are primarily funded in USA way over train tracks. I guess it makes the city look cooler for tourists our of the city but that's it tbh. Maybe it'll be usefull when we have the silver line, red line built but the red line is looking bleak, they don't even have a funding source and Charlotte was denied for a 1 cent sales tax inc to pay for their 2040 project. I'm all about for reducing cars, but this won't reduce cars on the road until all of those are built.
Charlotte has not been denied its funding source, they haven't sought approval for it yet.
@@DavidThomas-xe2mb charlottes entire 2040 plan was laughed at by time Moore. He blatantly said he wouldn't approve a 1 cent sales tax for public transport because he fully believes that ppl want to drive and to put more $$$ in the highway system. Charlotte has to find a new way to get funding bc it's not coming from a sales tax hike he laughed at the idea it woukd be 13+ billion for their plan
@@DavidThomas-xe2mb in order for him to approve it Charlotte needs to scrap the idea of trains and fully go into the highway system and busses which is The opposite of what Charlotte wants. Our state has the final say, and they want highways not trains. Charlotte is fully on the hook for these trains unless they can find another funder
@@DavidThomas-xe2mb just like the silver line it's gonna be promised, then 10 years later more promises and it'll never even be approved. Charlotte needs to do what their able to do and max out their busses instead of dreaming north carolina will change their minds magically overnight
@@xhalozero What's so bizarre about Tim Moore's opinions, is that zero state dollars are being requested for these projects. The audacity of people outside of Mecklenburg County to prevent Mecklenburg residents from taking their own vote on the tax is anti-democratic!
First thing, if you have 15+ minutes of dead time at the beginning of your TH-cam, crop that off.
What speed will the street car operate at. Will be a faster speed then the current ones.
I doubt it will go faster it's running with traffic, it has to obey the speed limit
they'd have to put in concrete barriers and make the street car run on it's own lane not shared with traffic, which how it's built, that would be so expensive as the entire road needs to be redesigned
Not to be that guy but... LET'S GOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🚄💨💨🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
At Cottonwood st they need new railroads crossing 😊
Between trailer dr and Jeff Adams dr they need all new railroad crossing signals they all need some new crossing
On 4th Street design the railroad crossing the safetran gate
Do you use the white light on an item to go on the railroad
Several thanks 😊 to everyone at #CATS

why not to downtown mooresville? seems like a missed opportunity
think the rail in downtown mooresville has issues…there’s some rail ties stuck into the rail bed to block trains heading south to mt mourne or north to town about halfway between lowes corporate and downtown
Yes please! Let's make North Mecklenburg passenger rail a reality! We've been asking for this, no, begging for this for years now! But come on now, 30-60 minute headways for commuter rail, or any kind of rail or transit for that matter, is PALTRY.
I want at least 15 minute frequency during peak hours, and maximum 30 minutes during off hours. I want 24 hour service. Also, electrifying the route with overhead wires is a must.
Agree, but 24 hour service isn't feasible. It should have at worst 30 minute headways and run 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., roughly, IMHO
@@andrewdiamond2697 If we want to take drunk drivers off the road, we need later service. Even if not 24hrs, at least until 3am.
@@spydula1 t would probably be cheaper, taxpayer dollar-wise, to run door-to-door van service than run this train late at night.
It's a bit misinforming to not say a commuter rail service can also run on overhead electric lines.
I agree, the majority of the world uses overhead lines for intercity service, the point they are making is nonsense unless they are pushing the idea that only diesel engines are viable to match the existing freight engines
Where exactly would the Derita station be ?
Looks like somewhere near Gibbon Road off Derita Avenue
you'll be electrifiying it right right
ha. hahahaha
Electrify the route. Extend it to the airport (NCDOT owns the tracks from CLT to gateway station) And 30-60 minutes frequently is too long. With waiting that long I'll just drive
From the airport to Charlotte Gateway Station, Norfolk Southern owns those tracks, not NCDOT
That would be pretty cool. If this could interline with the Silver Line somehow to create a one-seat ride and have a higher frequency between Uptown-Gateway Station and the Airport, that would be a big bonus.
I have absolutely no clue what CATS is and I live in another continent lmao but this was in my recommend so I had to watch it.
Cats is the charlotte area transportation system in charlotte nc. Crazy it recommended this tho haha
Do you live in Asia? 🐈🍽 😂😂😂😂
Having doubts this is even going to be completed. They've been designing this since 1998 and had the perfect opportunities in the early 2000's. Many businesses settled in Charlotte, NC because of the red line and the overall transit plan they had and it was abandoned. They haven't even locked in a funding source for this project yet so it's all a design phase still, so really barely anything has changed in my mind. They're building a passenger rail facility near uptown at least and that's set to be completed by 2028. This project looks like it has a 10+ year outlook at this point tbh.
Since it's a commuter rail, I'm guessing it's only gonna be available during business hours?
Not so, CATS is planning on establishing all-day service for the red line. That's including weekends and nights.
I just know it their gonna only have this train run during business hours just like so many cities and just abandon people after those hours with no option to get anywhere. If they want more people to take the train rather than driving they need it operating on a 24 hour period so people build reliance and have a sense of reliability with the train.
sadly since USA doesn't invest $$$ in their trains that's most likely gonna be the case though sadly. It would be nice to see the city become less car dependent, but this would just be a bandaid so highway traffic is less and that's it...
Commuter rail can also be powered by electric overhead wires! That requires more initial capital investment but pays off in economic and environmental benefits in the long run. Also the framing of this as a "commuter rail" rather than a "reginal rail" may be problematic, especially considering post-COVID work-from-home commute patterns. Commuter rail implies a focus on weekday rush-hour service rather than frequent all-day service that can serve ridership demand beyond just 9-5 commuters
regional rail service would look something more like Amtrak, connecting many different major cities to one another. although this will link up small townships, they are mostly contained within the same county and are sort-of exurban towns within the greater Charlotte region. the word "commuter" isn't exclusive to job commutes, it could refer to students traveling to school, someone heading downtown for the weekend, or any other type of "commute" trip
I am sure you have done the environmental impact statements to determine the passengers per hour in the catchment area for each station.
The one at Tremont Road at least it's a little bit dead but it needs to put a bell
Turn on the street at night and watch it be alive
Hello I'm a daily transit rider. I'm just very concerned of why none of these transit projects seem to be a priority to get developed. Other cities are so far ahead when it comes to transit. Gateway Station. Ctc redevelopment, are all these projects going to under construction at the same time. Everything seems to keep getting pushed back year after year.
FrFr ... us folks from DC or NYC are like where do we scan this thing. LOL
