We get basic IO running on a BeagleBone Black in python. We use the Adafruit BeagleBone Python library to light up an LED from the board. We also change the brightness of the LED with the Adafruit BeagleBone library’s PWM feature. The Adafruit Beaglebone IO Python library works great for GPIO! This video is great for getting started with a BeagleBone black from BeagleBoard. It also teaches you ...

great vid however at 2:40 how does the voltage loop counterclockwise if the cathode side of the diode is blocking, also from my understanding of inductors the current flow should be clockwise when there is a current drop in this scenerio, since inductors resist change in current so a drop in current would mean it wants to keep the current moving in its original clockwise direction.

I'm not sure why we're worried about EMF. There's an optocoupler on the relay board you're using. Technically there isn't a way of damaging the controller. Unless you're worried about the power supply that drives the device.

yes you made a good video and the instructions are on point however please purchase a pair of wire strippers and learn to properly connect an AC circuit insure there are no exposed wires by using the proper size or guage of wire and when connecting a wire open (unscrew) the terminal far enough so the wire is inserted and there is no exposed copper hanging behind the terminal.

Two different things. What you have is normal for all relays and protects the Arduino from the kickback. What he added here protects the power module from the kickback. Both are needed.

    1) dont use relay to do it.. it's very big and it loses a lot of heat and it also have shorter life span. oww and it costs more. Use 'dual n-mosfet board', wiring will be exactly the same. 2) don't use wire made with small wires with screw connector.. it's fire hazard. Use single core wire or add metal things at the end (sorry i don't how they are called in english)

Thank you for posting this. I would love to see a follow up video with the Arduino controlling a relay based on input to the Arduino. In other words if I press one button the relay would be activated for one second. If I press a second button the relay would be activated for 10 seconds and if I press a third button the relay would stay activated unless a separate signal told Relay to shut off. I am trying to control an AC motor that will raise a platform to various heights.
