Judging by how quick they revealed this, I suspect that this series is only going to get one anime season. So they are moving through the plot faster.

It's not so bad if your convictions are strong enough to shape your magic into protecting yourself against the charm. This only shows Gill still has more growing to do before reaching his goals.

I wonder what makes Duke or Alicia and Gill intrinsically that different, don't you have an idea ? :p Anyway, as annoying as she can be ( and IRL, I personally would pay just to slap that kind of person in the face :p ), she's but the product of her experience in life.

But the magic of Duke and Alicia, mixed with the admiration he has for those two, stave her influence off of him. Alicia is different, probably because she comes from the real world. And Duke is a complete and utter simp for Alicia, so he can't look to anyone else like he looks at her.

In Alicia's case, I think it's simply because she's from the real world, so a video game character trying to control her, is like trying to control a God. As for Duke, he's a complete simp for Alicia. He's almost obessessed with her. She blinds him to everyone else, and his magic shaped around that feeling.

strong magic probably since a lot of people like the 5 novels or the king doesn't fall for her. Fun fact: the king Luke treasures Alicia atleast 10x more than the saint

But Liz has the literal power to EFFORTLESSLY bend other people to her views, and since the king is strong willed enough to resist her, she makes a great propaganda tool. I'm surprised a ruler is benefiting hard work, rather than easy power. I guess that's what gives him the willpower to resist her in the first place, but still...

To be fair, I think that is the point of her character. Although she’s a self-professed villain, her actions prove her noble and kind and even inspiring, which is what the other characters notice.

She has standards. Those girls aren't even worthy of being minions.

Less "counter measure" and more just shake Gill until he snapped out of it. Sadly, little bro doesn't even remember what happened. Like a person waking up after a seizure, they have zero awareness of what happened! 😕 What sucks is, Liz herself probably isn't aware of what's happening. Don't be deceived by the title, she wanted to get closer to Gill to learn more about Roana village. At the most ulterior motive, maybe get closer to Alicia and specially Duke, the two people whom she wanted to approach the most in the past (one as a not-yesswoman friend, the other as a love interest), but who both always pushed her away and refused to befriend her. _But then, when she starts talking to Gill, her goddamn "Saint aura" or whatever starts brainwashing him. And Liz doesn't notice it, because she's literally used to this pattern ever since she was born!_ 😫 This whole situation just SUCKS! I hope there's a Season 2 to flesh out how this whole conundrum is gonna be resolved!

@@MrDibara I hope so too, or they don't try to wrap it up too quickly. According to wiki, there are a total of thirteen episodes planned for this 'season'. I don't think two episodes (which have not aired yet) is enough to end the series, let alone points like: how to disengage from Liz's saintly influence and the aftermath, Roanoa village no longer an isolated village for criminals, the 'war' between Liz and Alicia, political conflict with Laval, etc

@@MrDibara You're pretty much spot on, except Alicia isn't her friend and she doesn't consider her that despite what she believes, she's just unable to understand what she truly feels despite the fact Alicia already pointed it out for her ;). As for a season 2... well, I hope so too, because with their pacing if they didn't change the following events ( which if they do will likely confirm they didn't intend for a season 2 no matter what :p ) it would be plain cruel to just stop there for those who don't want to start the LN/aren't japanese readers and don't want to wait for years ( the first english translated volume isn't published yet... ).

It's not that simple and grounded. In fact, it's very complicated, sinister and tragic. She herself doesn't realize this, but Liz has some kind of "Saint aura" that activelly *brainwashes* anyone speaking to her into becoming her faithful follower. This,however, turns these people into fanatical and irrational yesmen, who put Liz on a pedestal, believe she can never do no wrong and that anyone who disagrees with her is evil and must be punished. *Even when Liz herself does not agree with those thoughts!* (she was glad when Alicia pointed out her flaws and how she should reflect, but Liz's "followers" were seething with anger and revenge) Sounds bad enough? *BUT, WAIT! THERE'S MORE!* 😈 By what the latest episodes have shown, it seems that everytime Liz is feeling some kind of emotional turmoil, her "Saint aura" *expells that negativity from her and INTO one of the brainwashed followers!* We don't know yet why this happens. Maybe some godly rule of "the Saint must never have negative emotions" or some similar bullshit, I dunno. But whatever the reason, *this resilts in the affected person becoming rabid and acting out on their darkest thoughts and worst impulses.* _Even when they normally never would've._ The result is what you see here: Jane (the brown-haired girl) got overwhelmed by Liz's negativity and then lashed out irrationally at Carol and Alicia, and in such an extreme way that NOBODY approved of her actions,not even Liz's most fervent followers. And now, she's probably wondering _why_ she acted out like that to begin with, all while being bullied by her former friends for the crime of "tarnishing Liz's reputation". *And AGAIN, Liz has NO IDEA she causes that kind of influence on people!* I'm telling you, by the time this whole thing gets revealed and explained, Liz is gonna have a fucking breakdown, mark my fucking words!

I feel like the saint will eventually become the villain once her jealousy gets the best of her here we see she's glowing like a saint but still manipulative but when her jealousy shows she glows a darker aura.

That's why, even though Gil agrees with her a little, he can never bring himself to fully allign with her. Not only he looks up to Alicia more, he can also see Liz puts these stereotypes on people that undermine what he has been through. And he resents her for it.

@@Dazaiburger the fact is that yes, she is truly ''good'', but full of ingenuity and naivety: until Alicia, she just had to desire something to make it true. Mostrly because her charisma as a saintess makes the people do whatever she want (and with her aura, being unconsciously manipulative. She doesn't seem to be aware of that power). From her logic and perspective she don't need to think on HOW to save Roana's village, she just need to want it. She is just used to get along with everyone, because she is genuinely kind, so even if someone is capable to resist her charisma, even without it nobody would really hold a grudge against her, if he won't go too deep within her personality at the point to find that something is actually wrong with her. Thanks to alicia she learned that not everything follow her will, some things are out of her control, but especially: she can be disliked like everyone else. She grew thanks to that, and she has shown improvements. The other side of the medal is that it seem she likes Duke, and she is jealous of Alice, thus she still probably don't understand the emotion called jealousy. The lack of knowledge and control of her emotions, with the lack of knowledge of the manipulative ability of her charisma makes her really dangerous at the moment, but not evil.

Liz's emotions are the trigger. - Liz gets hurt because Duke looked at her like scum. - She gets emotionally anguished, but tries to hide that internally. - Her "Saint aura" or whatever it is *expells out* all that negativity from Liz and right into one of the people influenced by her (or more precisely, her aura) - Said person gets affected by that overwhelming ammount of negativity and start acting on their darkest thoughts and worse impulses, when they normally would not. The tragic part is, Liz herself probably doesn't realize this happens! She knows "things always work out" when she talks to people, but since that always happened since her childhood, she has no reference to know that is suspicious and unatural. Worse yet, she probably has MO IDEA that so many people among her "group" suddenly going crazy and hostile and even violent *are a direct result of HER presence!* Like AH Brandon said in his review of the latest episode: Imagine you exist, you are living your life, you had a bad day and just your mere presence makes your emotions affect someone else. With you having no idea about that. Liz Carther is gonna have the mother of all breakdowns when she learns about that eventually. Girl's entire world was a lie, a manipulation, caused by *her* of all people.
