A Festive Weekend In Oslo: Experience Norwegian Christmas Traditions With Me | Cozy Vlog
Spend a cozy and festive weekend with me as I share some of my favorite Christmas traditions here in Norway. I start with a visit to my parents’ house for a classic Norwegian Christmas dish (pinnekjøtt, or lamb), followed by a homemade tiramisu. The weekend also includes some peaceful time in nature, with clips from a hike through the Norwegian forest, Østmarka (Nøklevann). There, we stop by a café for buns and hot cocoa - a very Norwegian thing to do! I also share an update on the tumbler thing from my previous video. I hope you'll enjoy the vlog!

In Finland we also eat rutabaga during Christmas! In something called "lanttulaatikko" which is smashed rutabaga casserole. Interesting how similar incredients are used in other Nordic countries during christmas! We traditionally eat it with ham and other casseroles (carrot, potato and liver casseroles) during christmas eve meal.
Great and cozy vlog as always! I would love to see your vlogs everyday even :D
What a great company you work for!
Looks nice video
Lutefisk er best 😁
I love Pinekjøtt 😋 We eat Ribbe for Xmas but we also eat pinekjøtt before it. Enjoy your holidays. God Jul ❤🎄
Pinnekjøtt and ribbe look really delicious. I so love that you share your life with us ❤
I would LOVE to visit Norway! Such a beautiful place and your food looks so hearty and delicious! My kind of food! Thank you so much for sharing.
Enjoy your vacation ❤
Have a good vacation, Victoria! Please enjoy your time off and dont worry about uploads!! 😊❤
My Danish Grandmother made the absolute best liver pate that I eat as a child on Danish bread spread with butter and topped with pickles. I miss it so much. I haven’t found a store bought version that compares. It’s not a typical food item in the USA and I don’t live near a Danish community so I’m out of luck. 😢
I really like your vlogs 🤗 have a nice trip 🌞
Your vlogs are definitely worth the wait ❤ it's totally understandable. You're not a full-time youtuber, and there are other things you have to focus on, so never feel bad about it 😊 I really enjoyed this vlog, especially Penny ❤ She's so cute!!!!
Have a great vacation!!!! The tip with the cheese slicer is super, will try it tomorrow 😃I have the same snorkmaiden cup, it’s my favorite from the collection :) she is so gorgeous in the bathing suit 😂😂😂
a very cute video! norwegian cuisine is looking so bad though
Aloha that at was a good festival weekend on this video
Enjoy your vacation. We'll be here when you get back and post again. No worries. You deserve this. I have to try ribbe now. Tusen takk!
It's crazy how one 16 min video can take 7-10 hrs of editing. I mean the work pays out really well and we enjoy all your videos, so you're doing excellent editing work! It's also comforting and inspiring to watch, and I don't lose attention or switch out to do other activities (like I normally do with tv series where i end up watching app on my phone instead). I hope you're doing well Vic and happy to see you enjoy the x-mas festivities "early". I totally agree that x-mas decor should be enjoyed much earlier than for 1 month or 1 week only. Get that bling on, light up the house!
Penny is so sweet! I love how excited she gets. So adorable. Your dinner looked yummy.
I am team Ribbe, i don't like how Pinnekjøtt smells 😅
Thank you for your videos! Love them ❤
I just watched this vlog of yours, I hadn't seen it yet, and so great that you're a Potter fan too! Have you started your annual Potter-a-thon yet? :D It's funny I totally avoided The Cursed Child, I haven't even read it yet, but I came across a free copy of it at a book donation point at the supermarket and I picked it up just in case I ever feel inclined to read it lol (which may be never XD)
Yes, I started reading the series again on September 1st! I’m almost finished with book five now, so will probably be done a lot sooner this time around. But it’s so cozy! I think I might skip The Cursed Child again this time too. The original series will always be the best 😊 I guess it’s worth reading it just once so you can form an opinion on your own, but once is enough, haha!
I absolutely adore Oslo's Christmas Market - lots of things to do and to eat 🥰 In general love this pre-Christmas atmosphere in the city. Great vlog!
Thank you!
Your vlogs are such a cosy treat! Those mini items are soooo cute - I also love that kind of thing, always have since childhood and now I'm 37! You had an impressive collection. Fortunately I didn't know about those particular ones or I'd have loads haha. And speaking of mini, the mini Dutch pancakes are called Poffertjes and they're lekker (yummy) :)
Haha yes, I've always loved tiny cute things! But I think it was the right decision to get rid of it. I've now managed to sell almost everything, and it was a lot... Aha, that's what it's called! They look really yummy!
@@VictoriaSagely Yes definitely good to let things go if you feel it's time - I just did that prior to my recent move and it is quite liberating and makes it much easier to move house when you need to!
that's so true!
Yum yum the gyros you made looked so good! You've inspired me to do that. And I wish we could get the potato lomper here in Holland, they look great the way you prepare them! I really like your backpack at 11:13! May I ask where it's from?
Thanks! I bought it on Zalando, it's by Even&Odd ☺
@@VictoriaSagely Thank you so much! I found it and it's even got a discount right now, very tempted to get it!
the problem here in Norway there is nothing to do, No activity , No social life so you sating alone all daylong so its very easy to feel lost of frustrated. I am from Spain working and living in Norway and i can conform there is No social live at all and it very easy to get depressed because of it, so best thing you can do is to travel outside Norway at lest 2 times a year.
It depends on what you want to do, but there are many things you can do in Oslo. It probably feels very different if you don't know anyone here. I have my family and most of my friends here, so it's not lonely for me.
Do you own the apartment?
Yes!
Thanks for the valuable knowledge I'm just wondering how to open account in bank as foreigner in Norway have a beautiful wonderful day
Sorry, this is not something I can answer :)
@VictoriaSagely if you can recommend a bank cause I want visa card for shopping 😅 tusen takk .. natta
I totally understand the stitching issue, it looks shoddy. However, you look very nice in it and it is something you could potentially have lined up if you went to a tailor. The risk now is whether you want to spend more on the dress to make it as you want.
Yes, it's a shame, and after getting two dresses like that, I didn't want to spend more time or money on it, so just returned both of them :)
Which translation app do you use?
I mostly just use Google or ask ChatGPT 😁
❤❤❤hello.....Someone who broke into your house to steal... already knew that you have a job and work outside the home. The best thing is a loud siren.... Even a CCTV camera is useless. Because thieves cover their faces...... your videos are attractive ... Good luck.❤❤❤
Your vlog makes me start to notice/appreciate more of the little things in our day to day to life ❤ thank you for the vlog🌻
That’s so nice! Thanks for watching 😊
Wow I like you
Beautiful video
Thanks!
@VictoriaSagely welcome
Great day
Maby it would be nice to show what kind of ornaments usualy Norwegians use for xmas?? For ex ur parents and you?? It would be fun to see :). Nice video today :).
That vary a lot! I think we are very influenced by american culture and ornaments, especially over the last few years. I think my parents have a bit different style/more old fashioned. I can certainly show both here and at my parent's, when we start decorating ☺ Thanks!
Hey V!❤Wow...what a busy week with the floor redo! I know...its sucks so bad to live with a reno..even if its small😂We had to do our kitchen earlier this year...the whole week..the whole kitchen was everywhere in the house😢Hope you had a good week so far! I really liked that Christmas ornament you had in your hand in the shop...the light pink one😁👌🏽❤🎉So happy to see another video! Looking forward to the next one! ❤Omw..wow...that tumbler is...so BIG😮😮! Definitely agree with checking customer service for a possible mistake or error in advertising!❤
Haha wow, I can imagine the mess with the kitchen! But hopefully it turned out nice ☺ Thanks for watching ❤
@VictoriaSagely Luckily it did!🤭🤭
Why do you say partner? Really don’t understand 😂
Why not?
@ Maybe, but does partner mean boyfriend or roommate?
In my case it's boyfriend. In Norwegian, we have a more "mature" word for boyfriend, if one is not married, and live together, which is "samboer". I think partner is nice in English ☺
@@VictoriaSagelyahhh thank you for explaining got it. I hope you didnt misunderstand me. 💐
@@yagmurunsecimi it's all good ☺
Greetings from Turkey 🩷 I love your videos 🌸
Thank you 🥰
hey Victoria, it's great that you already have Christmas markets at the beginning of November. You have two months of Christmas, that's great. For us, Christmas markets don't start until the end of November. and yes collecting things is a problem it looks nice but you can't part with it but then everything is full and you become a hoarder. I read a book by a well-known author about how you can live with a few things, minimalism, that was very interesting. I'm trying to do that now😊
Yes, it’s nice that the Christmas market opens in November 😊 That’s smart reading a book about it! I also like to watch TH-cam videos on minimalism, I have found it useful and become inspired, I like @SimpleHappyZen she’s very good 👍🏼
I understand you so well, November is my least favorite month 😂but we finally got snow in Siberia so it’s not that gloomy!:) Christmas market is so cozy!:) and I think you should be proud of yourself, the floor looks great 😍have a great weak and thanks for the vlog, I enjoyed watching it🥳
That’s nice! I’ve heard Siberia is very cold. Are you born and raised there? Thank you 😊 Thanks for watching!
@ yes I was born and live in Krasnoyarsk my whole life 😃but I lived in Saint Petersburg for three years 👍🏻 it’s cold in winter, usually between-10 and -20, but sometimes it can be -35😱summer is usually very warm 😊
That's so interesting! Would love to visit Saint Petersburg one day, but it's not recommended for us to travel there now 😔
@@VictoriaSagely I totally understand that 😔hope one day you can visit Saint Petersburg, it’s very beautiful! And I really want to visit Oslo!:) I’ve one been to Stockholm and Helsinki from the Nordic capitals ☀️

Victoria I have a question do you now have no sun from 3pm onwards ?
The sun sets at 4pm these days, so still some daylight at 3pm, but slowly getting darker :)
Yey! New video!! Can you share your nighttime/skincare routine? :)
I only wash my face with a cleanser and water, moisterize and call it a day, so I don’t know how interesting that is 😂
