While I agree with some of your points, I do think mature themes CAN have a place in fantasy worlds as those can be valuable vehicles for exploring these themes outside of the context of our own world. This can give writers the room to make viewers question their presumptions or raise certain questions without getting into a murky political debate. On the other side, I do think there is also space for the more escapist and light-hearted fantasy worlds you describe. They're just different things that serve different purposes.

One of the stupid design decisions of star field is not locking the player off of content based off decisions cause once you finish the main quest the game resets so why tf should you be locked out of various branching quest lines it would make it actually worth playing the game again

Serana and Cicero being the two characters I have the easiest time finding people thirsting over because of how they actually behave in the game is both extremely telling and incredibly funny. Not complaining, though, I love horrid little murder clowns and I am happy a lot of people are fond enough of him to make fun drawings and mods and share them, and vampires are great, as well.

This is definitely a weird vid and as someone who's been playing Skyrim since its release, I have never thought about the sex in Skyrim lol. I honestly prefer my games without that. A joke here and there like in Oblivion (like the Lusty Argonian maid for example) is funny, but sex in games usually make it not enjoyable for me personally and like Skyrim as the sexless game it is.

13:20 It's funny you mention Serana is the only interesting NPC because I felt the same. There might be mods for interesting NPCs, but I haven't played with any of those. Serana has so much character compared with nearly all the other characters, and she's my favorite companion.

Skyrim defenders in the comments are obviously children or reclusive people who don't know what usually motivates people in real life and how male/female interaction happens. Skyrim DOES feel dolled up due to the lack of any sexual tension in all situations where in real life it would be present. A few indirect hints of sex throughout the game don't change the picture.

I really resonate with the weariness of the overbearing grim-darkness in modern fantasy. It can really elevate certain stories when it's used as an element to make a point (or when cranked up to 11 for aesthetics like in 40k). The issue I keep coming across and that you pointed out (especially since I read a lot of fantasy novels and webnovels) is how horrible people/horrible situations that the main character is subjected to becomes the main draw of the story with few truly good or redeemable characters that aren't unceremoniously killed off or defiled.

I also avoid romantic options in videogames other than Skyrim, only so my spouse will give me gold every so often from their market, and to have someone look after the kids i adopted (ill pick the ones who have the worst living conditions). Ill also have them at a house i never use and have my main home in a completely different hold lol

I get the point of this video but calling skyrim a "modern" bethesda game when it's a 13 year old game is just disingenuous and it was released at a time when bethesda was still making good changes to their games so i think your arguments would've been more fitting for their recent games like starfield. That one in particular shows how a full decade later they haven't improved their games since skyrim

As other comments have pointed out, Skyrim does have references to sex, it is just done in a subtle way. Its used only for storytelling purposes and not at all gratuitously. I have many issues with Skyrim, but the amount of sex in it is not one of them. I think its fine how it is. Like you, I prefer games that aren't horny, and its something I consider to be a big negative about BG3.

Obviously characters have sex and reproduce in the background. It's not brought up because it's not relevant to the player.

headcanon: the dragonborn is sex-repulsed asexual/aromantic, and the game is entirely framed through this viewpoint, sex is never shown or mentioned because they actively choose to ignore it, the dragonborn is bad at romance and flirting so they treat the amulet of mara and marriage as a purely legal arrangement (like a friendship upgrade) and thus when thinking about having children they only consider adoption
