Incredibly cute.

Don't care if people are dumb and can't understand the junction system, Final Fantasy VIII is one of the best in the franchise, with a fantastic characters development and story, and the junction system is actually pretty fun. This scene is corny but super beautiful

How long before this did she lose interest in Seifer? 😂

This was one of my favorite parts of this game!! It still is!

Such a fantastic scene, it makes me mad at myself for having played FFX before FFVIII. Both this and the Sudeki Da Ne sequence from that game are so great, but X represents such a massive leap in production value and presentation that by comparison, this really is just three shots of two voiceless, poorly animated models. Though, far more subjective, I think the reason X's love scene hit me so much harder was because of the dialogue and because I enjoyed X's characters so much more. It took me until I was partway through disc 2 of VIII to give a shit about any of these characters, and even then, only Squall, Laguna, and Matron Edea are the ones I like. Which is a major problem in such a character-driven story

i may be one of the few that consider 8 is better than 7. because of the love story between squall and rinoa and i think squall played a better "distant" character.

Not going to lie back in the day I had special memory card with just one save on it that was as close to this scene as possible and I’d load it up just to listen to this song for hours.

This game had an amazing story, but so many things were holding it back.

I hated this part. Him and Rinoa had a nice moment, then he turned Rinoa in. Then he later regretted it and went to get her. Squall is the worst main character.

I remember this being my favorite game as a kid bc I identified with squalls mentality so well. I realize how messed up that is now though lol

@3:07 its so great that Squall thinks to himself how she will be safer in the other seat, but decides to keep it too himself because he is conflicted on her being safe in his arms or safe in the other seat.

I remember replaying this part of the game over and over again just to hear the song. It's also one of the scenes where characters show relatable content. I think some time during Disc 2, I was able to relate to Squall: not trusting people and afraid of losing people. When he and Rinoa talked about losing friends and the fear of having the comfort taken away, I found it very relatable. Unlike Squall, I'm afraid of others hating, not liking, and thinking badly about me, so here, I was able to relate to Rinoa when she feared everyone mad at her and not wanting her around. Just 1 or 2 mistakes or complaints is enough to make me think that everyone hates me, but it will take many successes and compliments before I start to believe that it's not true.

There's a reason this is my second favourite game of all time

It becomes sadder when you realize that the reason why Riona's mother made this song was because she was in love with Laguna and it was her telling her how much she loved him then he got sent away. But it becomes happier when you realize that their love continues via proxy.
