A conversation with Gregory Diehl on the big questions in life. We cover ideas from three of Gregory’s books - on romantic love, the entrepreneurial mindset and then the heroic and exceptional mindset. Gregory and I have quite differing perspectives as well as underlying assumptions on many questions. I felt that we were good at listening to each other and growing through our exchange, which pr...

Unlocking the Power of Vulnerability: Overcoming Fear and Building Authentic Connections
Men who are willing and able to really stand up and be the loving and protective guardian of the wife and family are very attractive, actually. I say this as a woman coming from the place of being brought up with too much leniency. My father was a nice and very agreeable man. He let my mom “take care of the kids” and both parents worked. I naturally flowed into all of the beliefs and vices of the late 60’s and found myself in a living hell of my own making. A “Manifest Man” with a strong support system sounds like it’s moving in a good direction!
As an artist and a woman, I can totally resonate to feeling a bit like an outsider, not fitting in. Listening to Jonathan’s understanding of symbolism and story has connected me to what I have always known to be true but have never heard someone put into words. Like…. I thought I was the only one who “came from a different planet.” Now I know I’m not alone.

Been watching th series but I'm going to buy the books instead
My name is Lars

We do this for our good women, not unknown women that might turn on us.
You want true masculinity just look to Christ not the church fathers. Christ was the most manliest man who ever walked this earth.
🙏
I'm so blessed to be raised by old school Christians, this is 💯 % on point Jesus is the one true living God the Bible is the guide for everything richous and good in this life , there's nothing in the world for us , everything in the Bible and living biblically will bring you a real fulfilling life
Yet, Genesis 1:27 (KJV) “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” This passage implies that God created man and woman simultaneously, as equals, both bearing the image of God. Genesis 2:21-22 (KJV) “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” This passage, in contrast, describes woman being created after man, formed from his rib, suggesting a sequential and dependent creation. Weird how Jay only picks the one as if there are no contradictions in the bible.
In Orthodoxy, Holy Scripture has no contractions. Perceived contradictions are limitations on the part of the reader - something which is inevitable when reading the Bible outside of Church Tradition - which is clearly your issue. There are many Church Fathers who have given a interpretation of the verses you quote. Your interpretation that God created man and woman as equals, both bearing the image of God is correct. But to add "simultaneously" to that is both unnecessary and illogical. So are you being dishonest, or just regurgitating bad ideas without thinking them through for yourself?
the bald guy gives me vibes he sucks popsicle sticks
As a man, I have a much easier time loving others than myself
Almost nobody is talking about the fact that T levels and fertility rates in the US have plummeted. We should be very concerned with finding the cause of that and reversing it.
It’s the food
Dyer is the only reason I know about Orthodox in the first place. Heard of it sure but never bothered to look because "that's just Russian Catholicism" is what my feeble American mind assumed.
If you REALLY want to help people, make sure they understand that all religions and gods are manmade fairy tales.
Rather I will add, not to take advice from dirty young men, as one will likely fall into the mud with them :)
I didn't have a father. I don't know how how to talk about these feelings of inadequacy and solving my problems without feeling burdensome and whiny. I don't know how to have these conversations with my own priest or men at my parish. I don't even know what I would say
Check out Core on maniphesto.com . Might be a good place for you to start.
Maniphesto is a hidden gem, specially for young men. This conversation with Fr. John Strickland by itself is unmeasurably valuable, offering tremendous wisdom. Thank you Paul for your work. Christ is Risen!
Not at but work anger with god
Take anger with God to heal the soul
Anger is like drinking poison & expecting the other person to die ☠️
Fr Trenham has an otherworldly ability to teach. Truly a good man.
Keep up the good work
Observe the Torah like the Messiah did. Then you are a follower. Otherwise, you are a Christian. 😂
That isn’t feminism. What you’re describing is the patriarchy, the belief that femininity, or being a woman, means that you’re weak. No feminist bashes femininity.
You have it the wrong way around. Masculine men love feminine women. We marry them and create loving families with them. Feminism wants women to be more like men - in powerful and lucrative CEO positions, not prioritising being mothers to name but two simple examples.
@ Feminism wants women to have the CHANCE to be successful, or, as you put it, “more like men.” Also, pleasing a man shouldn’t be a reason we keep ourselves from doing anything. If a woman wants to put her life into being successful, having a vagina shouldn’t prevent her from doing that.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Jay it’s funny, when he makes fun of these evangelicals mega churches pastors cracks me up, he’s great as an informative source and you see this man doesn’t play a character of a saint wanna be and still makes good work for those who seek answers
Great conversation. I would add though that every society in the historical and anthropological literature (non-mythological) has been patriarchal. Matriarchy is a genuine myth (give it a google, it really is). It has never existed and never will. And even the women who seek roles of authority over men in society always end up having extremely masculine traits. It is inevitable. God help us all in our crazy times and thank you both for sharing your work! Dropped a sub :)
gotta admit the title is catchy
Blessings ☦️✝️
Finding out Trenham likes Jocko made my day a bit better
The pilgrimage was an extraordinary experience! Thanks to all of you who helped creating the documentary!
Great video!
JAY DYER!!!!!! I was trying to remember his name because I wanted to come back to his videos!!!! A friend of mine showed me him in 2013, and I recently converted to Orthodoxy and wanted to find him. So glad you posted this
"So that we can end our lives without shame..." I will never become a orthodox christian, because I cannot think outside of or conceive of myself outside of the Roman orthodox tradition, but boy, -as the americans say- how I would like to hear some time such a cristaline truthful phrase as that coming from tremendous Fr. Josiah. This moral simplicity, straithforwardness, naming a spade a spade and no ecclesial-modern-politically correct speech, not daring to teach on phrases of Christ, the likes of "You who are bad, you still know how to give good thing to your children...", without seeking "humanístic" excuses SO as not to make it sound as it sounds, that, dearest orthodox brothers of mine, is a very specific and typocal sofisicated sort of catholic Church hypocrisy and cowardice. That is why I listen so much to Father Trenham: good strong mind, Christian loving heart, and balls of steel that clang against any worldly Spirit. I envy you orthodox guys for that kind of timeless paressia. Beautiful, profetic, manly, humble and daring. It is my pleasure to pray to the Lord God He would give a part of Fr. Trenham's Spirit to many of our best churchman. Trenham once used " a lowlife". Admirable correct punch in the nose, and then waiting for a heart to open, that's the man all out. Admirable. I think we had this in people like Padre Pio or Fr. Fulton Sheen. But now? Even Bishop Barron is not that charitably fierce. All the Best, beautiful Orthodoxy, preserved from feminising modernist obligatons of those who helped to bring about imperialist modernisms, the weakened catholics. Pray for this feeble Sister-Church of yours. Peace and strenght in the Lord who won over the world, to You all. (a flemish Catholic living almost 30 years in central México)
Christ is king !
Whaddup Day Jyer!
13:23 I really like what Dr. Randall smith said on the subject of people saying there’s hypocrites in church something along the lines that there’s hypocrites at Walmart but you still go there
Father Josiah must not talk much to the women in his Parish. Because most orthodox women I’ve known (including my wife) are mothers yet they also have careers outside of the home. I dislike people who denigrate women who choose to get a college education and become more then just a baby making machine.
Great discussion. Thanks for having me on.
That’s was some old school 36 mafia😂 when the smoke clears, who run it, the bitches ain’t run shit but y’all mouth 😂😂😂😂
To me Schopenhauer is the greatest philosopher of all time, but whenever he wrote about women it always feels to me as though he speaks from personal frustration more than reason. Everything is worth taking serious but at the end I don’t really see his arguments.
Better think about it more hard then. because he’s got a right on the nose
@ But why
@@utilitymonster8267 he’s the only one that has the balls to admit that men and women are working on completely different moral fields, which intern makes contradictive clashing values. You can either take this path or you can take the woke path of everybody’s the same
@@utilitymonster8267Which parts of the argument don't you see?
@@utilitymonster8267i have a gf a he is 100% spot on
Simple solution - throw out the tv into the garbage can.
❤
What does he say about acrimony right before 28:30???
Great to hear this topic from a Christian perspective. Thanks for having and sharing the conversation.
If anyone reading this wants to see what REAL MEN look like start with Nathan Reynolds. No greater man of faith, truth and courage
God called me to his church throught Kyle. If wasn't him i would probably still be a miserable protestant
Thanks for a wonderful adventure! I’m looking forward to the next trip!
I really appreciate and resonated with Jonathan describing his struggles maintaining relationships. I also find that there is some outsider aspect within me, which I don't truly understand yet, and I struggle the exact same way with keeping in touch with people. It has been a difficult struggle and now, especially because I have been single for a while, I am really trying to be intentional about fighting the tendency to isolate. It is encouraging to know I am not alone with that difficulty.
