Mario Superstar Baseball | All Superstars (TAS)
0:00:00 Wario Special Cup
0:52:22 Peach Special Cup
1:34:01 Yoshi Star Cup
2:04:31 Bowser Special Cup
This is a tool-assisted speedrun of the Mario Superstar Baseball speedrun category "All Superstars" where the objective is to get all characters in a fresh challenge mode file to superstar status. This is achieved by completing objectives specific to each character in game. Note that this is starting from a fresh challenge mode file, and not a fresh MSB save file, this means that Special Cup and the Bowser team are already unlocked. The purpose of this TAS is to demonstrate an optimal route for the category, rather than necessarily being to the usual TAS standard of frame perfect optimization and RNG manipulation. Therefore the gameplay portion of this TAS is mostly a result of simple savestating until I got a result I was happy with.
Almost every opponent gets mercied in the 1st inning saving a lot of time over conventional runs. Of the 21 games in the run (3 5-game playthroughs with the normal captains plus a 6-game playthrough with Bowser) 4 go to the 2nd inning due to certain star missions requring a 2nd inning for a total of 25 innings played along with one Bowser Jr. encounter. Peach and Shy Guy's 5 strikeout goals hard require a 2nd inning. The other two were Diddy strikeout Baby Mario (who is 9th in Yoshi's lineup) and Petey 5 catch.
This run saves almost 10 minutes over my previous run found here: th-cam.com/video/y4ITuljfTV4/w-d-xo.html I actually finished the gameplay portion of this one shortly after the old version, but had it sitting on my desktop for almost a year putting off making the tracker on the side and rendering it in 1080p. The timesaves come mostly from playing the Yoshi playthrough on Star Cup, skipping a credits cutscene in one of the playthroughs. I also saved a a few minigames for the Bowser playthrough so that I could get money to buy Bowser and Bowser Juniors star upgrades. I believe there are also only two 2 inning games as opposed to 4 before.
As for future timesave, I think this route is really good and have a hard time imagining it being significantly improved in a major way. There wasn't any crazy detours or moving all over the map in any of the playthroughs, so I think a future TAS would have to focus on serious RNG manipulation and optimal at-bats to save significant amounts of time. That is all a little over my head, but if anyone else is interested in that, let me know and I will hope however I can.

It’s crazy how extremely precise you need to be with so many factors to do these challenges. This is not even close to being humanely possible in this time frame.

Am I the only one hearing "Steak" instead of "Strike"?

Lore of Mario Superstar Baseball | All Superstars (TAS) momentum 100
in retrospect, it's kinda funny how the game has all of these interesting and sometimes self-sabotaging challenges to unlock new recruits for the team, ("Drop a squeeze bunt!" "Make a sacrifice fly!") when simply(?) crushing the opposing team by 10 points just recruits all of their players instantly.
Love your TAS dude!!!
Can you do a TAS 100 on Mario Super Sluggers?
This is an extremely impressive run! Every game is completed in the minimum number of batters for both teams. The only possible improvement I can see is trying to hit a single every time, and then a grand slam for the 10th run, because doubles take longer to play out. Did you try to do this and found it wasn't possible?
For speed purposes homeruns are actually bad because of the animation/celebration after. Also if you ended on a Grand Slam the bases would be empty which makes it slower to get your 3 outs you need to end the inning.
I see a few of these achievements are "smack more than 2 hits.... steal more than 2 bases....." etc but the achievement is counted on the screen when only 2 hits are made or 2 bases are stolen (1:37:17). Was this like a mistranslation or something? is the acheivement really smack AT LEAST 2 hits or steal AT LEAST 2 bases? I'm confused. Thanks in advance for the help
Yeah you get the achievements for getting at least 2 hits or 2 bases stolen just poorly worded.
Not trying to be rude, but don’t you think that it would have made more sense for King Boo to be the MVP of the last game for Wario, Luigi to be the MVP of the last game for Peach, and Birdo to be the MVP of the last game for Yoshi? Only saying that because no one gels well with Wario’s team except for Bowser’s team and the Koopas and Goombas.
The reason for King Boo as mvp in that run is that his Finals MVP challenge is the only one of the four that you are allowed to do on Star Cup
Was this on easy??
3 of the 4 runs are played on Special Cup (the hardest difficulty), because the game locks you out of certain goals based on difficulty. The 4th is played on Star (2nd hardest) because it avoids having to watch the credits an extra time.
What exactly does superstar status do? I've read online that it boosts stats, but in my game it appears to have little or no boost
In exhibition you can toggle the superstar status with Y (or maybe X?) and it gives a minor stat boost.
The display overlay is fire!

Will you be doing another TAS since the all superstars category was rerouted or is this still the most optimal route for tool assisted runs? It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve seen this run but it’s still amazing to watch.
Wow
This tas is so cool man, are you going to make any more tas like slugger or something? Edit: Mario sluggers fyi
This was a great TAS to watch.
@jfm If I have Mario superstar baseball then for sure I can beat every single cup on mushroom cup, flower cup, star cup and special cup and I can make every character superstars
Showing the achievements you get really helps a lot. Great job all around on this!
Mario Super Sluggers has this hilarious loading screen of Wario sticking his butt in the camera and dancing. The joys of the Wii…
Sadly it’s a terrible game

Hi, didn’t you make another TAS video with these four teams previously? Poor Daisy during Bowser @ Peach… And hooray for Yoshi with the home-run!!
I wish I could have that thing on the left side of the screen so I knew what i cleared
Always love when you can watch a TAS twice in the same amount of time it’d take to watch the RTA WR. 😂 The RNG’s brutal in this game, man.
Stuff like the Toadette note block, Baby Mario booted ball, and the clamber goals are a nightmare for rta runs
@@jfm5864 very good video!
@@user-bs6lw4fr4r The Kongs have an ability called “clamber” that lets them climb the walls of the stadiums and make catches that would otherwise be impossible. As you can guess, this is very situational, especially for someone as slow as Donkey Kong.
Underrated game for TAS-ing, needs more views and praise!

Great and always
At 57:01, it shows you pitched a perfect game, but you clearly didn’t because Diddy got on base for you to make the double play with Peach. Hmmmm 🤔
The two numbers displayed on the right are the run and hit counters. A “hit by pitch” (aka “bean ball”) does not count as a hit in baseball (similar to a walk). The double zeros represent zero runs and zero hits correctly. It would not count as a perfect game, however, it would count as a no-hitter.
Game doesn't count a walk as a hit for the scoresheet
man FUCK that chain chomp minigame. i could never figure it out and i'd get hit every time despite standing still when it wakes up
I hate piranha one too 💀
@@EddieOverwatch piranha aint nearly as bad tho 😭 i hate this and the barrel minigame bomb omb fireworks was probably my favorite
Awesome TAS - i've had this game for years and played it a ton and I literally never knew that if you mercy a team you automatically get all their players!
10 points needed without enemy earn a point
False, you need 10 points of lead from your opponent example if bowser do a grandslam you need to do 14 runs since he has 4 runs, that only applies for win with a shutout (no runs from opponent) missions.
Fantastic presentation for such a cool category. Awesome job!
Gee Mario and DK just aren't Optimal for this Category huh
It's less that they are bad and more that Peach, Bowser, and Wario are kind of forced to be captains in 3/4 of the minimum playthroughs in the run due to specific goals they have, which leaves Yoshi, DK, and Mario as the remaining options for the final playthrough. Yoshi's starting location makes him the most optimal, as he starts in the most out of the way point and pretty cleanly goes through the whole map in a big circle, edning on Bowser.
Cool.
Wow!
