Excellent video for someone like me starting out!
Hey great job.. just wondering where?not specifically..are fishing I’m in East Texas
Do you need sinking line ?
Need to see more vids bud! Great work on that beasty🎉
What fly were you using? and how were you working it?
Nice! Carp were laughing at me all spring too! Taking a slower approach is good advice. Thanks for the video.
Woooo.... Good video. Congratulations.
Not many people fly fish for carp
What’s your go to fly rod size, brand, and model? Thanks!
can't wait to see more
colorado nice
What was your technique for working fly through water?
Short quick strips!
If you are new to tying or lazy like me you can do a simple version that has worked very well. It is a leech pattern that doubles as a minnow. I used a weighted jig hook, black marabou tail, and black ice dub or Simi seal dubbing. You might find Simi seal labeled as MFC - ARIZONA SIMI SEAL. That's it. Really works!
I love simi seal. I use it a lot for leech patterns similar to what you describe, and they catch fish! This pattern I find to be slightly more realistic to a minnow, but that may just be convincing the fisherman more than the fish.
This is really cool! Watched a few of your videos now and encouraged to try this in Texas. What do you look for when it comes to bodies of water and areas to fish?
Honestly I just fish wherever I can whenever I can. I have three little kids who keep me very busy so most my fishing is within a ten mile radius of my house. Have been lucky enough to find local gems just by exploring. If I could choose a specific body of water, the number one thing I would look for is structure.
makes a lot of sense! I'm going to give this a shot. Thanks for the quick feedback!!@@OpportunityFishing
What type of indicator is that ? And where can I find them ?
It's called Oros. Most fly shops in the states should carry them, or you can order them online. Mad River Outfitters has them I believe
Wow! That water is super clear. What a fun spot to fish. Great video. Hope to see another soon. 😎
Thanks! It's definitely my favorite type of fishing in Colorado at least!
Ya man nice catfish.
Thanks! Got lucky! Hope you have a great holiday!
Nice! I’ve been tying a nearly identical pattern for trout also based on the baby fat minnow. Gold bead, Micro barred marabou, pink pearl and minnow belly ice dub, and Simi seal for the back/belly make an incredible micro parr pattern. I’ve played with bruiser blend also, but I like the way Simi seal holds its shape a bit better for the balanced version. I use the gel super glue to set the eyes, and solorez thick resin for the head. Setting those eyes with superglue first really helps
I love simi seal! I use it alot for leech patterns.
@@OpportunityFishing me too, it’s killer stuff. If you style it with boiling water, it will calm down a bit for the balanced minnow pattern. It looks a bit messy at first
Baby Fathead Minnow?
Thanks for making this!!
Thanks for tuning in!
Damn I wish I could have made it bro.. sweet video, looks like fun!!
Yeah man! Another blue spot on the map crossed off the list! Plenty more to explore
come to support, thank you for sharing interesting videos, I like your content, keep up the good work, always success for all of us
Many thanks to you my friend
Thanks!
Sweet trip, Aaron! Great job on the scenery, fantastic you saw so many moose, awesome fish handling and gorgeous fish! Well done, my friend and great video
Thanks Matt! I always enjoy seeing moose... from a safe distance.
There’s one way to catch catfish right there. Hopefully it was not too pricy.
Hey AJ! Nah TFO had my back. 45 bucks for the rod section that broke including shipping and I was back in action less than a week later.
@@OpportunityFishing sweet same here I’m on my 3 rod and they never give me a hard time’ going after some big brookies tomorrow high up
Not trying to be disrespectful at all, just curious, is that considered a big bass where you are fishing? In Ohio that is ab average if not somewhat small is why I ask.
Not disrespectful at all! Yes in Colorado this is considered big. We grow large trout here, but Largemouth over 3lb are rare. Smallmouth seem to fair better than largemouth in Colorado water though. We have some lakes with impressive Smallies.
Great skills my guy!
Thanks!
I’ve heard That using a power bank without the GoPro battery in the GoPro works very well for keeping the camera cool. Idk how well it works but I’d like to try it.. suck that your rod broke, but glad you were able to land that beast!!!!!
That makes sense since it's the batteries that get so damn hot! Will keep it in mind for next year. Thankfully it's starting to cool down a bit and before we know it it's going to be fall fishing season! Narrowing down dates for the potential golden trout hike brother. Will hit you up soon!
Really sweet fish, Aaron!! Great work
Thanks Matt!
sucks to have the rod snap but atleast you landed the fish..beautiful cat!! what a tank 👊💪
Thanks! Was an amazing catch for sure! Very grateful for it.
I am curious. Are some of the walleye Saugers? Really nice video. Thanks.
No Saugers in this lake, but several Saugeye. Thanks for checking it out.
Nice catch!
Thanks! Probably my second favorite catch this year, and one of my all time favorites for sure!
GO YOU!!!! That's the way to do it!!! 👍😎
Haha thanks, was a blast!

Bro, awesome video!! 👏 what an amazing fish!!
Thanks buddy!
Hawggin bro!! Congrats, I bet that was one hell of a fight on that fly rod!!
Sure was! They were fired up pre storm!
Its so peaceful fishing at the airport
Lol, I know what you mean. There is an airport a few miles away. You get used to it, but I am very conscious of it when editing videos.
That looks like a fun way to target them. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking it out!
real cool video bro, dont think I ever saw anyone fly fish for Walleye..got some nice ones too! 👍👊
Thanks 👍
Dude this is so awesome! Never seen anyone catch walleye on the fly. Well done!
Thanks! Yeah that's why I decided to make a video. There really is not much about fly fishing for walleye on TH-cam right now. Like I said in the video though some people are pretty good at it. Usually those people have boats though.
Real cool shot of that walleye mouth at 7:55 Aaron. Sweet!
Thanks, yeah they are cool predators for sure!
Good video man that was some unique fishing
Thanks!
Good job brother!
Thanks!
Nicely done sir!!
Thanks!
Nice. I’m putting more effort into catching walleye this year
They are cool fish, pretty tasty as well if you keep them.
nice variety day with some good fish! 👍💪
Looks like you need to start keeping those crappie, probably over populated, could get some really nice sized ones with some culling!
Actually they have been improving in size since people started harvesting more in this pond! This year the average size has been 10in with some over 12. There is a fine balance between selective harvest and over harvest in these tiny public farm ponds though.
@@OpportunityFishing that’s good! And yes absolutely, especially with crappie, they’ll go nuts if let’s alone and all the sudden you got 5 million dinks lol
This is a goal for me just don’t know whether to try the river or lake. Walleye can be tough enough to catch in my area without making it even more challenging lol
I fish for crappie and smallmouth and catch them occasionally on the same flies. Clouser minnows, leech patterns ike the wooly bugger, definitely not an easy species to fool on the fly. This time of year is great though if you want to try it!
You should really try this at night. You’ll prob get walleye and large crappie. Perch don’t see all that well at night so the walleye will come in within casting range after sundown.
Funny you mention that. I caught a 20in walleye a few nights ago while fly fishing for crappie.
What is the strike indicator called that you use? I found it. Great vid!
Oros , I also like the airlocks
Well done!
Thanks!
