USS Hornet, 4th Essex carrier, named for Hornet sunk earlier, and the launch carrier of the Doolittle Raid in earlier 1942 which caused Japan to conduct invasions resulting in the Battles of Coral Sea and Midway. The battles halted Japan’s military advances and beginning with the Guadalcanal Campaign, was fighting a defensive war until its surrender in 1945. This Hornet museum is only car accessible in Alameda which was once a very busy military Navy installation until the base realignment act to cut military costs after the Cold War. The museum ship is in fair condition, with the flight deck not in good shape; the arresting gear is removed and not as many aircraft as other carrier museums, but the S-3 is nice, as a very unique and marvelous engineered plane.

that would make you very young still, this sim came out 10 years ago, the first sim I used was at Lawrence hall of Science in early 70's was a lunar lander on a teletype to a mainframe downstairs, the next sim was on my Radio Shack trs80 I took out a title loan on my car to by in 1978 for $1700.00 to buy, pre mouse pre internet, now at almost 69 I play with this and others to keep the hand eye coordination sharp for flying untested planes I build from foam board and my drones I build and fly.
