We have both at our studio! The soffit mounted speakers were left behind by the previous owners nad we have no idea how they were built. Our other set of speakers is on sound anchor stands. We switch between the speakers and have learned the room but there's def something funky going on around 180-350hz.

Good information. I have a question: If I used something like a WhisperRoom system for my control room or sound booth, would that classify as a floating floor?

Have you used roc Wool,, And acoustic fabric. I did the same thing and it worked pretty good actually work great

Nice Mitch, I see you bought the TC-Electronic pug-in's with the real time "hands on" controllers. I bought the whole line of them as you did and I have to say, I use them all the time for production and mixing. Mine is the white desk top rack, I also got the HD-muti-band compressor, and HD-Limiter. They all sound great. Nice studio Mr. Gallagher!

Ok, why given all your supposed know how would you ever recommend a mix or mastering studio that has glass on the front wall, no symmetry, and looks like DIY panels (2"? and corner traps)???? Seriously????

Absolutely beautiful studio, so cozy and comfortable and easy to use. Straight to the point and without ridiculous fancy stuff just for the sake of it. You can tell this studio works perfectly when Mitch, who has had the best of the best equipment on his hands decides to pick just the right things to create music and have the best time. Wish i lived in the states to buy things from Sweetwater, Mitch is the best sales person any company would kill for. Not only because of his knowledge and sales ability, but because of him being so humble and kind. Thank you for this video. ❤

My home office/studio is fairly small, so I'm currently rocking the freestanding speakers. Unfortunately my layout also dictates the speakers sit on isolation pads on the desktop, which isn't providing the amount of decoupling I'd like - so I've sketched up plans to build small riser stands that should hopefully improve performance in that regard as well as provide a more optimal vertical position.

Great discussion! With loads of cash soffit would be awesome but a headache if the monitors needed adjustment or replacing. For now I’m team free standing with the AMIE system.
