Tulpa FX - Ahool
A howl in the dark, rhythmic wings to a death march, a notch in the feedback spiral. The Ahool is a beast, a demon, a creature of folklore, a friend, a fuzz. You can make your own opinion, but make it carefully.

    Thanks for sharing. I like the format of having pure sound demo with comments in letters rather than voice. The shimmer was explained in a way that helped me with my own unit. Your music sounded like a playful and good jam session.

    2 years later, this pedal still goes for 500 euros. This price is justified by the science inside it, but not by the hardware. Way too expensive. I can buy a synthesizer with this kind of money..

    I still have it on my board...but the 8-bit processing has become an issue with 24 to 32-bit pedals in front of it... Not worth the $500 they still want for it... Looks like the new Mercury X is the replacement pedal that covers it and alot more...

    For me, the DD6 is the best PURE digital pedal from the Boss compact Series. No analog or tape modes. Digital at its best. The Warp mode is phenomenal. Tonally, it lacks some warmth if compared with the DD2/MIJ DD3, but it sounds clear and absolutely killer. I´m glad I still have mine in pristine condition, with its box lol

  • @ChrisB-lt6hp

    I’ve had one for years and everyone bangs on about the Styrmon, to me this always beat it hands down. My friend has an eventide 3000 and it’s was a monster, but this can do much of what the 3000 when I use it with the eventide delay. I use mine for ambient guitar and keyboard works and can’t think of any thing better, they are like instruments that you need to know.

    • @jasonm9264-f2o
      @jasonm9264-f2o ปีที่แล้ว

      Same- to me, the Strymon is more "metalic" and maybe "clean", whereas this is more "warm", eg a little more distortion and more mid-rangey by default- for my music it's more organic.

    • @tested211
      @tested211 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that is true. I just got one a couple of weeks ago - nearly sent it back. It's high flexibility means that it's also quite easy to make "bad" sounds (or sounds that are not at all what you are looking for) That's not a fault but it does mean that the learning curve is going to be steeper than most reverbs.

    One quick thought I had: Your channel name reminded me of something music related from a few years ago, but I couldn't remember exactly what. Then as you pieced more of this track together, it hit me: "The Sparrow and the Crow" by William Fitzsimmons. If you haven't heard the album or the artist, I highly recommend! Beautiful stuff that sounds like it could be in a collection with some of your tracks that I've heard so far.

  • @Ten80pete
    @Ten80pete ปีที่แล้ว

    Boy, do I feel dense... as I'm binging your videos on my long drive home (listening, not watching until I'm at a rest stop) this is the first time I'm realizing that maybe I should have left Session View alone, as it has only led to confusion. I thought it was REQUIRED that you start in Session, record any Audio/MIDI there, then arrange, trigger, edit (modulation and automation stuff), THEN record the individual tracks to Arrangement mode, edit maybe timing, crossfades, equalization, etc. and then stitch together. Idk why I thought that was what I was stuck with, but recording directly into arrangement mode makes everything fit together significantly easier in my (admittedly) cluttered mind. Thanks again!

  • @Ten80pete

    How is it that I have scoured TH-cam (and most of the internet, to boot) looking for a resource that could help explain how to use Ableton for someone unfamiliar with most DAW's, and while I found hundreds of enormously popular channels with playlists packed with unhelpful tutorials, and one channel that was slightly helpful (but mostly just funny and entertaining), I stumble on a beautifully captioned "relaxing vibes" channel in the pursuit of chasing guitar tone that conveys useful Ableton techniques and is more helpful in 2 minutes than 14 hours of my "Ableton Tutorial Playlist" ever was. Thank you for... being, L&L. Keep doing that 😁

  • @Ten80pete
    @Ten80pete ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm really mostly sad that this intro video hasn't gotten more interaction/engagement. I know, most people just dive into a channels main content, but considering I JUST discovered your channel, I want to express my appreciation for the content I've seen thus far. You may be a noise maker, but I also recognize a poet when I see one(s words). I don't know if that's an intentional stylistic choice, or an extension of your personality, but I Love it. The style of poetic silent narration with ambient noise tutorials is such an outside the box concept that I don't know if I could explain it to someone who hasn't seen/heard. I'd probably say "If I were to ever lose a tether during a spacewalk, floating into the beyond, knowing what is inevitable, I'd autoplay The Lark and the Loon videos and know that life is good." Luckily (or unfortunately) it's highly unlikely that I'll ever escape earth's gravity, let alone go on a spacewalk, but the sentiment stands. This is my new comfort soup for the chickens soul... or something like that.

      I’ll be honest. i had sort of given up on this channel. i was deep in production on a demo and it was slowly suffocating me. i could feel that i was doing it to do it, not because i wanted to. your comment, along with a few others, are encouraging a return. i’ll be back in a bit, astronaut. keep the shuttle warm for me.

      @@thelarkandloon7116 You have no idea what your response means to me, and I'm happy to have provided any encouragement (provided that work on the channel doesn't cause too much stress). You've got some truly incredible talents, and I don't say that to stroke ego. Allow me to apologize in advance for the many hours you'll spend reading my TH-cam Comment Novella's if/when you make your return. TTFN, hope you're having a wonderful evening!
