Clean Tires & Wheels | A Value-Added Service
Clean wheels are the cherry on top of your tire experience at Kenwood Tire. It's the least we can do to thank you for buying tires from us!
So we clean a lot of wheels!
Left uncleaned brake dust has a corrosive effect on wheels, particularly on chrome. Metallic brake pads are common on European vehicles and leave black dust that's hard to clean. Ceramic brake pads leave a residue too, but it's harder to see.
Wheels and tires should be cleaned at the same time as a car wash, but the mild soap used for the paint can't clean the brake dust and other road grime. You'll need a proper wheel cleaner!
What's the best tire and wheel cleaner?
At the shop, we use Dark Fury, a body-shop safe wheel & bug cleaner made by Superior Products of South Roxana, Illinois. Dark Rage works like an acid cleaner on heavy wheel dirt, but it’s acid-free and safe for any painted and plated surface. It works great for bugs on windshields and to clean gutters and RV’s.
Diluted 4:1, it’s an economical way for us to shine for our customers! We spray it on and leave for a few minutes, before agitating with a brush and hosing it off.
See how it works on the brake dust of this Mercedes GLK350 -

What is Proper Tire Repair? See How It's Done.
มุมมอง 148K4 ปีที่แล้ว
There s a time and place for a tire plug, but a proper tire repair means removing the tire from the wheel, inspecting the inside, drilling with a carbide bit, buffing to a rough finish, gluing and filling the hole with a one-piece repair unit. When the repair unit is set, I seal the buffed surface with a repair sealer, before mounting and re-balancing the tire We fix over 1300 tires a year See ...

    Hmm it would be possible to 3d print a hub mount to center on a rod, should be close balance by hand. Heck today would be easy to set up 2 load cells and a hall effect sensor to grab vibration and run out electric motor to spin it up. These are balanced 3 dimensional correct? Thanks I think I will look into your materials and tools. Is ether best to seat bead? or just pop with high pressure air?

    The patch I used had stickers all over it that needed to be exposed. I followed these instructions doing it wrong because the patch used in this video apparently has no stickers to expose. I recommend watching a few videos on this process to make sure you do it right.

    Hey, so my tire is like $420 and I’m leasing my Toyota 4Runner.. so it got a nail in it about a year ago which they patched and now it’s leaking and they say they can’t fix it and they want me to buy a new tire. Can they take the old patch off some how and redo it? I feel like I’m getting ripped off.! 😭

    • @jesussavessinners123
      @jesussavessinners123 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they can do that, I work on 18wheeler tires and it works all the time assuming uit was not placed properly or they probably used a patch tha was too small. I would get a second opinion, I would go to a small tire shop.

    • @doridelicious
      @doridelicious ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much 🙏 I actually told them that you put the patch on and I paid for it, it’s been less than a year and it’s not holding up so you need to fix it. I’m not buying a new tire and they said they will redo the patch so I have an appointment Saturday! 👌

    How do you get the tire off without breaking the bead?

    • @stevenc8140
      @stevenc8140 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need ratcheting tie down. Floor jack. Place tire (NOT WHEEL RIM) against part on jack that lifts car. Thread tie downs through wheel first to both sides of jack. Using shaft adjacent to jack wheels as where you place hooks. Run long piece of tie down completely under jack and then thread through ratcheting side. Tighten down tie down as much as possible. Then go over and raise floor jack. You will hear a pop! Tire bead broken. Flip over other side and repeat. It WORKS.

    For me personally, I've noticed that any assembly that has more than 10 pounds of Road Force causes a noticeable shimmy or vibration on the highway, whether it be at 55mph, 65mph, 80mph, it's always there if you are sensitive enough. There is a shop close to me that is willing to get the Road Force as low as possible, usually well within the single digits.
