I so hope the journal has found its way into a permanent collection, or that it does once the appropriate time comes. It's too gorgeous and touching to be thrown away and/or forgotten.
This is wonderful on many levels…very moving, especially for someone like me who does art…I suppose this lady is relatable to all, but for me I understand the crafting aspect of her notebook and loved how she created it, and that, after all, her dream came true. I do wish more could have been known about her, but it’s so lovely she got it into the hands of the relatives and can now be remembered today!
Apparently there is a huge possibility I am related to Conrad on the Veit (there are a few ancestors on my grandfather's side with the 'Veidt' surname) side of my family tree. I stumbled upon this video because I wanted to get more info on who Conrad Veidt was since Grampa sent across an old postcard with Conrad's picture on it in amongst some old photos insisting that we're related to him lol. My surname is actually Veit-Williams btw.
I object to this because Lily Veidt's nephew was not the closest relative to Conrad Veidt; for god's sake he had a daughter, who wasn't told about his death. She learned this through the media. I am angry that Veidt's widow's extended family got access to all his personal artefacts and Vera Maria Viola Veidt had no say. Awful. She died in 2004.
I saw Above Suspicion last night on TCM. The movie should have been about Conrad Veidt's character. ;D
00:08:28 She effectively preserved a lost film. She's referring to Bride of Vengeance here, I believe.

How interesting! Thank you for sharing this story! You should do more research on this.
Have you thought of doing one of those ancestry kits? Maybe something will come up?
