The eagle symbol was a common symbol in ancient Rome , the Nazis , like in America , hijacked the symbol for their own use. Also, the Parthenon was built in this form around 126 AD, and it was converted into a church in the 7th century- that is why it has lot of Christian symbols.

the swastica is stolen from the hindu religion so it would not be a surprise if they stole other symbols

Wonderful pub. Have not been for 15 years or so but used to regulary before then often taking my little boy in with me at lunchtime. The Guiness was of course perfect, the food fresh and filling and the staff great fun if they had the time. Thoroughly recommend it. From an Englishman who was always made very welcome. Hope it has not changed.
