I introduce the Vocal Sauce Rack 4. I've made some major upgrades to the whole functionality of this rack This effect rack has everything you need to process vocals. I wanted to it to be able to do everything that you need to quickly process vocals. All of these parameters were mapped and optimized for editing vocals. The only thing that this effect rack does not have in it is delay and reverb....

how instal for windows preset
This effect rack is only for Ableton users. Ableton is both windows and Mac compatible.
Do you need Studio to show those stacks of other tracks, on the left nav? I currently have Assistant and am looking at upgrade paths, as well as planning for what Celemony do this Black Friday, if you know what I mean. I know you need at least Editor, to work on other Instruments. Just trying to figure out the differences. The upgrade from Essentials to Assistant gave me more drop down options, which were pretty useful on vocals. Thanks for the tutorials, btw. Much appreciated.
@@VentureNW I think you need studio to do that but I'm not certain
@@VentureNW I can always do a one-on-one to help you
@@VentureNW let me know if you want to set one up
@@Mr_Audio Thank you. Crossing fingers for Black Friday. haha
Does your audio interface support 32 bit? If not that will cause issue between your daw and computer system
I'm guessing someone somewhere told you this information. This will not cause any issues. Let's get that out of the way first. 24-Bit audio and 32-bit audio is a different way of storing information that is all Most consumer interfaces support 24-bit audio going in and 32-Bit audio going out However, there are some interfaces that do support 32-bit audio going in But most of these are field recorders and this is so that if you record too loud of a sound in the field, you can reduce the clip gain to get that peak back so you're not going over 0dbfs when you export. And this can be done in your daw after the fact Most interfaces people use for recording vocals, guitar, drums and other sounds don't support higher than 24-bit going in However, they do support 32-bit on the output This will not cause any issues between your daw and your computer system because it supports 24-bit going in and 32-bit going out. See 32-bit audio has existed for quite some time now. If you want to know the science behind it, 24-bit audio is stored using binary code 32-Bit audio is stored using scientific notation and all that means is you can fit a lot more information in the same amount of space as 24-bit audio I'm guessing I should probably do another video using audio examples to better explain my point
Here's a link to the interface that I have if you scroll down aways. You'll see what I'm talking about. You'll see that it has 32-bit conversion, no compromise in monitoring. Although it only records 24-bit audio in it allows for 32-bit going out. And this interface only cost $500. solidstatelogic.com/products/ssl-12
@Mr_Audio i have that same one
@@soundsfromYYBY then your interface is capable of this as well. If you look at that link I sent you scroll about halfway down. You'll see that it supports 32-bit output Once in your daw, you can process in 32-bit on any interface. What you hear will probably be 24-bit if you're interface is not support 32-bit output but you'll still have all the benefits of 32-bit
So helpful! Thanks for sharing 👍🏿
How do I load my stems from cubase into melodyne so I can work on them individually?
You have to put melodyne on each track that you wanted on. I usually put it at the beginning of the chain. Then I like to transfer all of them in at once. You can click the transfer button. At the top for this. However, you can activate all of the transfer buttons at the same time. There will be a little red record button off to the side where all the tracks appear. You can click the record button on the top track in melodyne and then hold shift and click the record button on the bottom track. This basically selects all of them to be recorded. Then you just play your vocals through all the way through and then they are imported into melodyne You're kind of like recording them in Certain daws have ARA support Mine which is Ableton does not so I have to do this every time
Maybe a one-on-one would help you. We can set up a zoom call sometime tomorrow if that works for you?
For instance are you using melodyne standalone for is this loaded into your DAW How do I get my song from my cubase into my melodyne?
You kind of have to record it in. There's a transfer button up top Click that and then play the vocals sample through Then it will appear melodyne. Then the video will make a bit more sense
You can use the standalone option but I prefer to use it as a plugin
All these melody tutorials that say beginner are not really for beginners You guys start with your whole project loaded already and I'm searching the internet to figure out how to load my project properly and I can't find that anywhere absolutely crazy A beginner project should actually start from the beginning
This video basically just gets you familiar with all the tools in melodyne. At least the basic ones. What do you seem to be struggling with? Maybe I can help.
@@Mr_Audio The BEST And MOST Comprehensive Beginner's Guide?
I installed the free Mr. Audio's Vocal Sauce Rack 3.0 but what software do I put it in to use? lmao
You'd need Ableton
@@Mr_Audio Damn
However, I am working on developing these into actual plugins that work with all daws
ty for sharing
How do I deactivate that feature in my plugins? Or what limiter would you recommend?
I'm pretty sure the future is only available in izotopes ozone and Fab filters pro L2 If you don't have those, you probably don't know anything to worry about I don't think you can disable the future, just turn it down to zero
This did not at all explain dither. Learned about noise floors though
The more consistent pleasing sound which I forgot to mention is dither I have a couple of long form videos that explained dither and show what it sounds like But this video is very old I'm much better at making videos now
WOW
Thanks!! Gonna use method 5 more. And how important would you say the point about the kick and bass being in different notes is? What would make a bass standout more?
@@rmndnb You could try boosting some low mids on the bass Sometimes I'll keep the kick and the bass the same note, make sure they're in phase with each other So they're not canceling each other out in any point And then resample that one note together, put it in a sampler And play it like an 808 in a sampler Sometimes I also find that that works as well. It depends on what kind of music you're creating If you don't mind me asking, what kind of music do you normally create
@@Mr_Audio Thanks for the answer. I make drum and bass so getting this part right is key! But learning everytime. Also I mostly put the bass slightly after the kick plays to give it even more space.
It's definitely also a good method but it might make your low end feel a bit loose at times but sometimes that's enjoyable though. That is something that is done in a lot of reggae tracks. You should definitely try ring mod sidechain I forgot to list the links for the plugins in the description but I will list them tonight sometime. But method number five that I mentioned works very well for that genre too. There are a few videos on TH-cam explaining how to do it. I would just type in ring mod sidechain in the search bar and you'll see a few videos, they're short and sweet but very informative. I'll probably go more in depth with ring mod sidechain in the future.
@@Mr_Audio appreciate it bro! I haven't looked into ring mod sidechain yet so I will do.
Awesome thanks dude
it works for windows?
If your Ableton is up to date it should
now add some sidechaining, it'll make your drums pop out more! sounds awesome
Who thought it was this simple...
There is not much “room” in the original voice to begin with.
Even though it did not have that much room in the recording, I still would not have used it had I not taken some of the room away. And the room, you can really only hear it on a few notes. But those are the notes that I was singing the loudest. So of course the room reflections would definitely be noticeable with compression at least on those parts.
And plus if you check out the rest of the comments, most everybody found this trick useful. I hope you do too as well my friend!
Is there a vocal you're trying to save with significantly more room reflections than the one that I'm showing in the video?
Trolling, you didnt do what your title said
Much appreciated Mr audio you’ve solved my problem thank you
Dude I'm going to be making this into a plug-in soon so don't worry it's going to be way better
@@Mr_Audio 🫡🇦🇺
Hi bro! I sent you an email, pls check!
This is not an introductory or beginner video. At best this is a poorly organized intermediate video. You spend most of your effort providing disclaimers about what you dont use, which is not what beginners need to hear. You jump from feature to feature without really showing much about them. You started going through the tools, which was good, but you quickly lost the audience with technical terms that beginnera may not know. If you want to provide something of value, perhaps you should slow down, let the viewer know what you will be covering, go over basic functionality of the program, and take your time explaining things, and spend less time telling viewers what you dont use, or that you will be covering a feature later. Training is about capturing the audience and keeping them engaged. It is not about your expertise, your prowess, and rambling. Get organized and follow a plan.
Hey friend, thanks for the engaging comment. I was fairly new to making videos at this time. I'm still fairly new. If you were looking for something specific that wasn't covered in the video I'd be happy to schedule a zoom meeting with you to discuss it.
@Mr_Audio I think I was looking for something simpler. You have obviously worked with the product, but sometimes when doing videos, we forget to plan out what we are going to say a little bit. I didn't mean to be so hard on you. I reread what I typed and I thought "damn, I was kind of hard on the guy".
Great Vid, but why do not record in 44.1 kHz, to avoid this dither thing? Downsampling do not so much impact to your music, like dither.
Good question I actually made a video on this, but I'll give a simple explanation here. Plugins have aliasing filters. Some may start to slope into the audible range when using 44.1k That's the only reason However, when you downsample you can create a lot of ISP's. There are always trade-offs
Try lfo from oscillator 2 for a more modern sound and use the spectral wave shaping options
Straight up legend
Cool video, makes a lot of sense! We're always happy to see people doing their own research, not just blindly going all in on one specific solution. Totally agreed on room treatment. Software solutions for calibrating your room and speakers are not a replacement for room treatment - it is always a good idea to have at least some basic treatment done, although the balance between the software correction and room treatment is probably subjective and very much dependent on your room, budget, and other personal conditions. Also, interesting point about how the different of different sound absorption materials affect different freq. ranges, this is rarely discussed when it comes to room treatment. Great advice regarding headphones and headphone calibration too - a lot of creators will find it to be a quick and legitimate (and consistent) solution with a lot of bang for your buck. With that said, we still find that room correction has a lot to offer even in poorly treated rooms. Yes, software calibration has its limits (standing waves, for example), and applying a significant software correction in an untreated room can indeed have questionable results in some areas due to the severe compensation applied. Despite that, a lot of Sonarworks users report a significant overall improvement in such scenarios too. And then of course, if your room is well-treated, software correction will provide that extra layer of accuracy too. Additionally, channel delay is also corrected for a better sound stage balance, which also adds to the improvement (especially when it comes to poor room properties). In other words, our experience and research show that software correction still has a lot to offer in both scenarios. Also, your point about speaker placement and positioning cannot be overstated. Severe low-end cancellations or buildups can often be significantly improved simply by adjusting the speaker placement, their distance from the back wall, etc. In fact, software calibration is a great analysis tool to use, as you can make educated decisions on adjusting your entire workspace layout (making adjustments based on the measurements). At the end of the day, mix translation is what counts - if you can clearly see that a specific approach improves the mix translation and consistency, then the method used is legitimate.
Wow! I really didn't expect the creators to comment on my video. Thank you for supporting what I said in the video. And I totally agree that if your room is well treated software can add that little touch to it. But that's just it. If you're going to use the software, your room should be well treated. It's meant to be the icing on the cake, not the cake. Anyway, I thought it was really cool that you guys commented. Thank you for supporting my small channel.
A constructive comment/criticism, if I may, from someone who has spent decades teaching and lecturing - you spent so much time, and so many times, telling me what you were GOING TO show me, that I lost interest before you got anywhere near showing me those things. Also, you didn't seem to have a plan or script (even just headings) that took us from an overview to details, or was entertaining and informative - it was just a totally random approach. I'm sure you know what you're doing, but from a teaching point of view, it lost me by the 6-minute marker and I just gave up.
I was new to making videos when I made this. I'm still fairly new. I'm just figuring it out. If you need help with something specifically, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
@@Mr_Audio Thanks for taking my comments in the spirit in which they were intended :) Yes, we're all learning all the time. Having a properly structured video leads to more structured input into the brains of those watching. Same as when i give a 1-hour lecture to a lecture theatre with 550 students. I need to GET their attention, KEEP it, then SPARK their inquisitiveness, EXPLAIN stuff very logically and in order, clarifying any tricky concepts along the way. I'm sure you already know this, but knowing and doing it are two different things :) Keep at it - you obviously know your subject matter really well. It's just a case of practicing how to structure it, lay the video out (not a full shooting script but at least a series of topic headers) etc. And try to stop saying "I'm going to be covering this/explaining this/ etc in a few minutes". Maybe once, if you have to, but not as often as you do it in this video. Keep on learning :)
mr.audio is the goat!
I have struggled with iLok and uaudio labs destressor, but now its ok. Need to learn this that you're mixing. Thanks man!
Great video. I found your channel randomly with voice sauce rack video, saw a bunch of good stuff for free on your page. Checked your channel. You have some really great content, it's upsetting to see how little views you get. This is amazing what you are offering to the community and so I'm pretty sure that you will start popping sooner or later, because that's some true dedication you are doing to the small audience you currently have.
My channel is growing. People will see. Thank you for your support friend.
Thank you 👍
Gegagedigedagedago!
I have been using Melodyne as a plugin within Bandlab CAKEWALK. I didn't realize until now that now Melodyne is practically a DAW in itself... ie., you can record your individual tracks within Melodyne.
Yeah melodyne is very powerful!
Thanks for this, Mr. Audio! You are a great teacher, and I like your frank, no-nonsense approach. You say what you mean and mean what you say, and I appreciate that so much.
I've heard that i should not touch this but never knew why haha. Thank you!!
You're a BOSS!!! BTW I did reach out to a lead product specialist at Steinberg/Yamaha to ask them to send you cubase so that you can do demos on it for Melodyne. I hope they reach out to you.
Thank you. I hope they send me something. Would definitely love to try it out with ARA support Would speed things up for sure
im trying to go along with this tutorial why and everything is the same but the sound isn't the same
I probably have an EQ or something on it. I would have to open that video project to see what that was that was causing that. But I can send you the preset if you want.
Also, this video is pretty old. I should probably do an updated version.
You're a life saver, this helped me a lot! Thank you!
Glad I could help
I can only smell the colour blue in my right ear
What's the name of that guitar sound on Ableton?
It's guitar open but I made it sound way different. I think I could make it available to you guys if you'd like it by the end of the week
That’s very interesting and something that I never payed attention to
GREAT VIDEO!!! I wish that you had this for Cubase and ARA features.... But, that aside... I'm like @westonwrathsimmons... It was nearly impossible to find this... one of the single best Melodyne videos to ever be produced as a tutorial.
I'm sorry TH-cam just doesn't seem to like me quite yet!
I will try to make one if @cubase sends me a license...

@@Mr_Audio Wonderful. I've emailed the lead product specialist at Steinberg/Yamaha.
😂😂😂😂try another job man that's a big waste of your time
Thanks for the engagement friend
why is the audio panned to right only
There must be something wrong with your system I just rewatched it and I don't hear what you are talking about.
@@Mr_Audio nope you can hear it especially on the mix of the vocals the right side is approx 70% louder next to 30% of left only.
I downloaded the video from TH-cam cuz I thought you might be on to something. But the audio is mono. Because there is a time when I had an ear infection in my left ear. Which caused me to lose my hearing a bit in that ear about 70%. It was quite significant. And it stayed that way for about 3 months. I had to create an effect rack with a left and right channel so I could balance my audio for how my hearing was. Basically you put it in mono and mess with the left and right until it sounds like it's in the middle. It's a trick old school engineers used to use who had partial hearing loss in one ear. I made this video around that time so naturally, I thought that this could be true. I will probably do a video on hearing loss. Anyway if what you say is true that you're hearing 70% less on one side, you may have partial hearing loss.
In Ableton Mac, does Melodyne export the adjusted track automatically?
Actually with Ableton you record your audio into melodyne and then melodyne plays the audio from there What I like to do is once I've tune and timeline everything inside of melodyne I'll freeze the track, duplicate it, mute the original, then minimize it so I have a backup. You know if I like want to go back and change it later. This way I can commit to the audio but I always have the option to go back. And then I flatten the duplicate track. Then your track has all the melodyne baked in.
this is dope for pulling a kick out of a sub heavy track.....btw i use your vocal tracking every single day...i got rid of the deesers but i knew i wanted this
I'm going to make some of these racks into actual plug-ins. With extremely low latency I've got a plan. It's going to be awesome. There's going to be free plugins as well!!!
Indeed, this is the BEST And MOST Comprehensive Beginner's Guide for Melodyne! Thank you, Mr. Audio
