Great job, so thorough, a lot of crv's get thrown away in the rust belt just for that rear mount, think of the crv,s your saving by helping people tackle this job. Thanks for showcasing your skillset and passing it on the next guy, I'm in the finger lakes region, and I own 2 ,2nd gen crv's , I think your video is edited/shot like a pro and the rear swing job is so valuable for people to see. Thanks again, can't wait for the next one.
Thank you so much for the comments. They help me to keep motivated to publish these videos. This may not be up your alley, but I am just finishing up a three drawer cabinet for filling a hole in our kitchen where we removed the refrigerator. My grandson‘s CRV videos seem to get most of the comments. Thanks again for watching. Duane.
Ty this motivates me
Thank you! Your comment motivates me to keep pushing ahead with the channel. Have a blessed day. Duane
👍
Thanks Hope you have a great day!
I watched all four videos on the engine change. Thank you for your response to one commenter indicating what lead to the need for the replacement engine. I may have to do this swap on my daughter's CR-V, as she ran it low on oil - even after I told her specifically to check the oil at every fuel fillup. Still runs, no milkshake in pan or oil in coolant, but CEL is on and there is noise on cold startup. I figure a stretched chain. Can get a JDM engine here locally for $1250, so may have to go this route. I don't have a lift to get the engine out the bottom, so I was hoping out the top was a doable proposition. Thanks for the video.
No. Thank you for watching the videos. Every comment, like, view, subscribe, is a plus for my channel. I really hope that they were helpful and encouraging for you to undertake your project. I really didn’t know if it was possible to remove the engine from the top and that is why I decided to make the video! Thanks again for supporting my channel! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thanks for the video, I have pulled this motor once from the bottom and looking to try it out the top. Ive got a donor crv that I will be swapping into my late father's/only owner 03 crv with a cracked block. Hopefully you can open yourself up to tips/advice/input.
Thanks for watching the video. Always open the helping So I may be a little slow on responding. The only thing I would do differently is bag my hardware specifically where it came from and mark each bag. Make sure to support the transmission with a jack that you can move up and down. Be careful, careful and try to have fun! Duane
@DuaneUrch just pulled the engine from the top. Your video helped direct me on where to go. I removed the axle just because it was already coming out anyway. This was actually pretty easy, in some ways its not as tedious compared to going from the bottom, I hate messing with frames as well. Now on to installing
@billyvallejo5530 My question to you now is - now that you’ve done it both ways, which way is the best for a home DIYer? Thank you for watching the video and commenting. All likes, comments, subscriptions… really help to build the channel. Hope your installation goes well. Duane
@DuaneUrch i think I still prefer going from the bottom. But Ill tell you if I do it from the top a couple more times and get familiar with it I will probably stick to the top 👍 The home DIYer should begin by doing it from the bottom, there's less things that can potentially break.
Great Video, Fabricating is time consuming but rewarding. Great Job!
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! YES, creating something is very satisfying. Hope you had a great day!
How much would a reputable mom and pop charge for this i wonder ? These engines are fairly cheap on the market from what ive seen compared to others.
Overhead is the big driver on the costs! EST. 10 hours out and 10 hours in, not counting all the wait time on the seal, engine/transmission mounts. If there are no issues! And there is always issues LOL ! No doubt more in labor than the cost of the engine. Thanks for watching. More videos on the way. Hope life is treating you well!
255k on one of ours and 354k on the other. Newest one has 60k
This old engine would have run longer BUT my grandson is a new driver and ran it with the coolant low. blew a head gasket, we tore it down and did a valve job... but saw some scoring on the #2 cylinder, put it back together as an oil burner. Got 15,000 more miles out of it and decided to make the change the engine while the car was here for a rear suspension rebuild. Thanks for watching! Go for 5000,000!
Amari is a lovely and capable assistant!
Thanks for the video, I will use it as a reference. I feel like I will be replacing my daughter's car engine soon. Not looking forward, but cheaper than a mechanic shop.
Your welcome! Bagging and tagging the parts would have made reassembling much easier!
That turned out amazing. Nice job.
Thanks for the comment! Hope you have a great day!
Awesome job.
Thanks for the visit! I think my next video is going to be about making a 3 drawer 30" kitchen cabinet to fill in a space where a refrigerator was removed. Then it's back to the fence project from last summer.
Where do you get v blocks?
I made them in a machine shop class back in my early 20's. Kent State has long since shut down the program. Thanks for taking time to watch my channel! Duane
Swap 3 lobe head on it
I just went online and started to educate myself on your comment. (THAT WAS A LONG TIME COMING). I didn't even know such a thing existed. I'm afraid if it had any more power it would rip out something in the drive line. Thanks for your comment! It helps my channel when I get Likes, Comments' & Subscribers. Hope you have a great day! Duane
That is one pretty engine!
Great design! I spent €800 but still no first cut. th-cam.com/video/yzTg5Sby9wA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N-cJiddZVvFtAzGm
Everyone needs a plasma cutter!!
Love the spirals! Well done!
The fence is beautiful!
looks like it works great, how come you didnt just spin around and blow on the way back instead of reversing all the way back each time
Wind and stones. I had a car parked in the road and one in the driveway so I was trying not to hit them with the stones. The wind was also coming from my back so I didn't want it blowing back on me on the way back up the drive. Thanks for watching the video and making comments. Check out some of my other videos if you get a chance. Duane
Cool Prize! The starter is 120V... no converter. Spray it down with Fluid Film--spray the seams in the housing, the mating services between the cutter bar and skids and the housing, inside the housing and chute. The Fluid Film will cut down on and even prevent corrosion. It never dries but it can be rubbed away so touch ups are needed. It would be good to change the oil after an hour or so of run time... that gets rid of the fine metal flakes from engine break in. It sounded like it ran fine after adjusting the choke... I'd let it warm up for say 4-5 minutes before actually blowing snow so the oil warms and flows well before it's stressed. Have fun!
Thanks for all the great advice! I will definitely be using the Fluid Film since I already use it on all my automobiles. I even have the spry gun and aerosol cans on hand. I will confess that It never occurred to me to use it on the snowblower. Didn't even know that there was such a thing as a 120 volt electric starter, and I have been twisting wrenches most of my life. Thanks again! Duane
@@DuaneUrch Most of the starters on snowblowers operate independently of any electrical system in the snowblower (e.g., for lights or grip warmers). They simply use house current via an extension cord (either the one provided with the machine or a standard 3 prong -- Me... I use either a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord. I don't think I own a 16 or 18 gauge cord!). There are dedicated snowblowers with batteries out there in the world but I haven't encountered one in person!
That thing is new, and that Powermore engine was already badly surging .
YOU ARE RIGHT! Every small engine manufacturer seems to be shipping their engines out to the consumers as lean as possible. We can that! Thanks for the comment and for watching. Duane
212 CC is about 6 and 1/2 horsepower. That auger lock feature you showed at the end is a little more common these days on nicer machines than it used to be. Although it's very strange that they chose to give you only one reverse speed. Even many low end machines have to reverse speeds. Still a very nice machine I really don't have any experience with Husqvarna equipment. One thing I would do is preventive maintenance is take the wheels off then put some anti-seize on Hyundai axle. That will prevent the wheels from seizing through the axle. That way the wheels come off easily if it's ever in need of a future repair that requires the wheels to come off.
Thanks for the great advice about using anti-seize on the axle hubs, that is definitely going on my list of things to get done. Someone else also suggested using Fluid Film on the sheet metal seams and areas where the paint gets worn off. I agree with you that more reverse speeds would be convenient, I have it in the back of my mind that it's that way for safety and Liability. Thanks again for the comments and for watching! Duane
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Nice Job and at a great price, almost FREE! and thanks for the Idea, I have all that stuff and need a roller.
Thanks! Hope your projects go well. BE SAFE! If you would LIKE & SUBSCRIBE it would definitely help my channel. I have some neat projects coming soon. Thanks again! Duane
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
A HOT water heater??? If the water is hot, why would you need to further heat it?
Brilliant! You made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the comment.
Chamfer the fitting!
Yes on the side that is usually mounted to the floor or wall of the mounting flange ( I called it a fitting) it was relieved that allowed room for the core weld. But you me wondering about 40 size of the tank. So when I got home a found a calculator on line that I could put in the dimensions to find the cubic inches of a cylinder that is 44” X 19” in diameter. It calculated to 12,475.26 cubic inches. I found that a gallon of water has 231 cubic inches. I divided 12,475.26 by 231 and came up with 54.005 gallons. There’s no way I could’ve figured that out the internet! Thanks for making me think!
Just out of curiosity, why did you fill the tank with sand vs filling it with water? At least with water you could drain it when not in use and more easily move it around since it doesnt weigh 600lbs. Otherwise this was a great build and great upcycle of scrap materials.
I live on gravely/sandy soil and it hardens up like a rock when it’s dry. I can actually drive a full cement truck over the yard when it’s dry and Get hardly any ruts.
Sent that last message incomplete by accident. Sorry. 50 gallons of water weighs 417 pounds approximately. I felt that extra 200 pounds in the drum was worth the inconvenience.
@@DuaneUrch Makes sense, didnt think of the weight dif of sand vs water.
Looked like a 40 USG tank.@@DuaneUrch
Likely nominal 50 USG or 40 Imperial Gallons. I made one out of a Stainless pressure vessel and total weight with water is 970 lbs. It is about 20" in diameter. Flanged and dished heads. I used blocks of Oak drilled for 1" SS Pipe welded to the ends for Bearings. Flush welded SS couplings and plugs on each end. Works best on wet soil . It does not fill in the holes, just mashes down the bumps.
Nicely done
Thanks for the visit
Thank you! I do like getting comments, good or bad.
How do you know so much?!?
Anything I don’t know , I just ask my wife.
Fascinating!😊
And come back in 5 years to hollow rotten tree 😂
That’s why they had them trimmed because that’s what they were already starting doing. They were afraid that the limbs were gonna land on their house.
Well done, Duane!
😱Not the anchor bolts!!
Been there, that is soooo much work to do correctly and it looks like it was. Nice of you to help your friends, please run for government, we need better people in there...
Thanks for your comment. If we all treated one another as dear friends, there would be no need for government. GOD BELESS you and yours.
I know you too❤
I'll never accept the way Americans build houses! Woods and water doesn't match
Agreed. My personal house is built with precast concrete. What is your preferred way?
House shown is 140 years old. Where's the problem? How old is yours?
@grantmcinnes1176 That is what I told my buddy! Started building mine in 1980 but there always seems to be some new project.
Y'all are good friends indeed.
Thanks for the comment! Hope you have a good friend.
Very nice of you to lend a helping hand. 💪🏼
Thanks!
Impressive AND cute!👀
