When did you visit? Would December be a good time to go?
@@CollectorOfMemories-pq1nq looks like it would be freezing just taking a look at the weather now. And if the wind is ripping on that open hillside it’s going to be very very cold. I imagine dangerously cold would be accurate
@Philbilly_Rocks alright, thank you. I didn't want to risk going in the summer. Perhaps spring time would be best...
Very common problem with those 4.3s
I like these old Chevys. I get a truck for next to nothing that does the 8 ft bed truck things I want without the price of a mortgage.
@Philbilly_Rocks yes not to mention the 4.3 will run forever! Good gas mileage and simple to work on!
Over 20 years gold prospecting up here in AK I've seen many homemade dredges. None were worth the hassle. Inefficient and nothing but headache after headache. A new/used commercial dredge or combo paired with an efficient Honda pump will pay for itself in efficiency alone.
I have to agree. Pay to play as they say. Enjoyable for recreation out in the northeast but not feasible as a profitable tool by any stretch. If you were on killer ground maybe but that’s usually restricted.
Nice!
These are gorgeous 🤩 Also, I like your music on your shorts.
Amazing
I like going everywhere..I hope our paths cross..you seem like a pretty cool dude to go rock hounding with..🤘🏻
@@Purplediamondqueen2727 thank you very much and thanks for checking it out. Hoping I get back here again sometime
@@Philbilly_Rocks i’m here right now probably for another couple of days, then I’m moving nearby in Nevada to find quartz crystals and fluorite
@@Purplediamondqueen2727 I’m jelly! That’s awesome!!!!!
@@Philbilly_Rocks have you ever rockhounded in Utah?
@@Purplediamondqueen2727 never saw this, no I have not! Any recommended places to check if I’m back that way?
Where can public do this?
There are several locations in Herkimer county New York. The cheapest atm is Crystal grove. Nice cabins and such with a store etc. Then there is Mohawk valley minerals and several others. My Herkimer videos are at Crystal grove and diamond mountain mining. Def try it once if you can just prepare for heat and some bugs. And tough digging
Is that flint?
Yes it is!
Amazonite?
@@angelamarie727 I think it was more sulfur ish, maybe a copper or pyrite type of mineral if I’m thinking of the right location
@Philbilly_Rocks still pretty cool..
Where can u find these
@@angelamarie727 in ely Nevada there is a public mineral collection area. It’s out there for sure
@Philbilly_Rocks thank u.. I live in ohio. I seen one of ur videos and was thinking to try the place by flint ridge for the 1st time. I love gemstone
@@angelamarie727 love love love flint ridge. For me it’s bar none with Herkimer mining. It’s just tough and a lil less rewarding unless you find a real good one. Def hike around and search the ground! Especially after a long summer. People have probably left some cool chunks and this time of year you can see who has been digging what and where etc. very nice intro spot.
This is really cool
Why are some of the crystals on those rocks bigger then others.. also can u just go there and dig for the gems. Or do u have to beat the rocks apart
We've been there a couple time this year, yesterday to be exact, and it's $10 per person it go in and dig then $1 per pound you haul out. There's a scale and drop box on site to weight out your haul and pay. You can go in and just dig to your hearts content or go through the pits already dug, but for the most part you'll be amazed at the amount of flint just laying on the ground that has been scattered. The owner comes in every now and again to fill in pits and dig new ones so there is always something new laying around just like in this video. Just remember one tip, the upper layer of flint is the blue/gray to white in color and the yellow, red, black and pinks are below to upper layer.
@W8MJL I would love to find crystals and gem stones more then I would flint. I've heard u can find those here also. How likely is that? And do u have to break the rocks to find them or just dig the dirt? I've never done either and would be so fun to do.. I live 26 minutes away. Just need to know what I need to take. Would love to go when someone who knows what they are doing goes! That would he awesome
@@angelamarie727I've only heard of a lucky few that have found just the quartz alone, but it required a lot of digging. Most of the crystal you'll find, just like in this video, will be on and in the flint. If you walk through and really watch you can find pieces with sparkle but braking into the larger ones could reveal a lot more, those you'll have to dig for unless someone left one exposed or tossed it aside.
@@W8MJL thank u for your information!
@@poa2.0surface77 next summer is for sure the plan.. I wanna go hunt rose quartz too.. that's my dream
It was great meeting you.
@@hipbeeexplorer that was a cool trip for sure. Looking forward to getting back up that way
Fabulous stuff to knap, cut and polish, or tumble!
I am really looking to go geode mining, so can you tell me if they are in Iowa
@@harrymcguire4790 yes. There’s a large geode belt that runs along the east edge of Illinois and up from there. It will take some homework. Vickers geodes may be close to you
Great job all around fam. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
@@GSProspecting thanks for being a real one in the community gs. Appreciate the comment.
Could you give me a more specific location in Ohio to find this please?
@@petal_lane03 this is gone. But there is a farm in central Ohio. The owner recently passed. I talk about the site in one of my first videos. I’ve never seen another pocket like this
@@Philbilly_Rocksthank you very much.
Mashallah, Good nice
Looks like claim at Crystal Grove. I know it takes hours and hours to finally find that first pocket. Congrats.
Thanks! It was a smaller type of pocket but still awesome. Dying to get back!
@@Philbilly_Rocks same here. 3.5 hour drive for me so I can't do a day trip. I try to go every year.
Where do you get it i want ittt
Amazon or eBay will sell you blocks you can melt. If not you buy a bunch of bismuth pills and heat them with foil
@@Philbilly_Rocks thanks its my fav element gonna buy it
Right in my back yard! Glad you enjoyed NH and the WAM. Nice Gold too
Hot dang! Love New England! Thanks for the comment!
I know that guy !
He’s quite the character! 😂
That flint is really nice, are you at the place folks call flint ridge?
A lot of people that flint knap heat treat their stuff, not sure why on the jaspers
@@diggingappalachia954 they sure do. I was told a kiln at 400’f temp walked up slowly and then back down. And yes it’s the flint ridge region east of Columbus. There’s a museum in the area with some very neat pieces on display as well as neat history on the area that I do recommend checking out to add to the experience. You can walk through a path where the natives used to mine their flint for arrowheads and other such tools from what I understand. It is incredibly sharp I will say that!
If you ever get a chance they have a knap in there every year, it’s a stone tool makers show, I only know of a few of them around
@@diggingappalachia954 I almost always miss it so I need to key my eyes peeled!
Good stuff man glad to meet you and see you in the future
Are you in NH, Maine or AZ?

Id love to know where I can find these in ohio!
Central area
See me too iv been a gemstone hunter for many years now do all kinda of hunting I love by the Ohio River like my back yard is the river lol. But over the years iv found a few incredible things as in minerals gemstones Etc but I would love to know where I can find big pockets and larger crystals. I do have one incredible find it weights ruffly 80 to 90 pounds. It's a mineral but I'm honestly not too sure what kind of mineral it is tho. It is crystal form I can take my flash light and see completely thru it. And it's white not a see thru white irs like milky only it's a giant 90 pound chunk if crystal. I know it's worth a good bit. I'd even be willing to sell it if someone knew what I was talking about and knew how I could easily sell it as I have minerals of value including the ultra rare finds Ohio Diamonds. Iv found a couple over the years but ya wish I could find stuff like this down here in southern Ohio by the Ohio River..
Wow. That vocal fry just earned a fucking thumbs down. Ridiculous.
What is the difference between bismuth and pink bismuth ? Can you use the regular stuff as an antidiarrheal?
Oh yes. Of course follow label and all
Work on that vocal fry broski.
